How many people have you touched in the last 6 months?

Went for a walk with a friend the other day and accidentally brushed her arm going through a gate. It felt very odd. Thinking about it, apart from that I really don't think I've touched anyone else outside of my household since march.

Was then talking to another friend about it and she reckoned she'd touched about 20. Not job related, just socially. Wtf?!

So what's your number?? Feel like this is the covid version of the 'how many people have you slept with?' threads!! 🤣

DH, hugged stepson & his GF twice, hugged best friend & her husband twice, + received one hug from a work colleague when I was really upset. Accidentally brushed hands with shop assistant in Waitrose and we both apologised profusely.

Tiredmum100 · 23/10/2020 16:49

100 +, but I am a nurse, although very mindfully for it be quick and only for what is needed, all whilst sweating in PPE.

NeedWineNow · 23/10/2020 18:59

My mum and our friends (another couple) and DH.

KitKatastrophe · 23/10/2020 19:02

My parents, grandparents and husband and children. So 8.

I've been touched by people though - I've had a dentist appointment, haircut, smear test and blood tests.

Alternista · 23/10/2020 19:06

Outside my household-4.

And I’ve been touched by a couple of doctors Grin

mamaduckbone · 23/10/2020 19:07

3 regularly - dh and dcs.

My mum, once, at the end of the summer holidays before the kids and I went back to school. I put my mask on and gave her a big hug. We both cried.

A very dear friend who I saw for the first and only time in a year over the summer (one quick hug when we left)

A couple of children at school who have needed it - one in particular who has SEN.

So, 6 or 7 in total. Weird, isn't it?

BogRollBOGOF · 23/10/2020 19:12

I have two tactile children and am touched out!
DH

Hugged DM in June when I saw her for the first time since Feb when she was ill in hospital (and aquired a stubborn chest infection...

Hugged a pair of friends in June when I'd reached the random sobbing stage from a weird combination of being completely peopled out by my family and totally understimulated from external company. Ended up havig a very theraputic drinking session on their sofa.

My osteopath/ sports massage once a month.

BiddyPop · 23/10/2020 19:21

I hugged DM twice since jan. And 1 hug for 1 DSibling when she stayed overnight when cases low in summer.

I have had to touch a couple of my Cub Scouts - zipping up lifejackets, supporting as they stepped into boats, etc and 1 was upset at 1 point - maybe 8/9 touches since midMarch. And we did a touching of left foot shoes instead of the left handed shake to welcome them to Cubs on investiture in July - that was 4 additional “touches”.

But that probably is it. Outside of DH and DD who both live here.

BiddyPop · 23/10/2020 19:21

I seriously need a physio or decent masseuse to touch my back very soon!!!

nibdedibble · 23/10/2020 19:24

Dh
2 dc
Dad
Grandmother (and that was because she demanded a hug, she has barely touched anyone since March)

I desperately need some hugs from my lovely friends. I’m not even that tactile!

HerRoyalNotness · 23/10/2020 19:30

My household and my rheumatologist checked my thumb joint at last appt. Oh and the dentist doing my cleaning. The phlebotomist taking bloods, the pharmacist that gave me a flu shot. I think that’s it. Wasn’t touched by the optometrist doing my eye exam. Seems my life is a merry go round of medical appts Grin

TurkeyTrot · 23/10/2020 20:53

DH and 3DC
Mum and Dad (elbow bump only)
Sister and nephew
Dentist and dental nurse
Hairdresser
4x medical professionals for breast screening and follow up
Friend about to start chemo
Nightmare colleague who hugs everyone
That's 17!

StitchInTimeSavesNine · 23/10/2020 21:08

Probably 500. I've wiped noses and tears. Put on coats and redone pony tails. Held hands and fastened shoes.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 23/10/2020 21:11

Too many to count. I'm a nurse, you simply cannot provide care from 2 meters distance.

Bagadverts · 23/10/2020 21:16

Outside of my DParents - hairdresser and beautician and various medical professionals have touched me.

It isn’t even hugging it’s just brushing a hand when you pay (I haven’t used cash at all) or brushing past someone (wide pavement/quiet road so can avoid).

ShatnersBaboon · 23/10/2020 21:21

Beyond my immediate family I don't think I've touched anyone. A nurse touched my arm with gloved hands when I had my flu jab. I'm not a touchy feely person, so the past few months have been very easy for me in that respect.

BrienneIsMyHero · 23/10/2020 21:22

DH, daughter, dog at least once a day and once I hugged my best friend who is a nurse.
I had an emergency dental appointment this week and I nearly cried when the dentist gently touched my jaw with both hands. Just feeling another human being touch me made me emotional. May sound weird to some but it just felt nice and normal...I enjoyed being at the dentist! Shock ( for context I wfh and basically I only see people when getting groceries and out walking my dog)

YonderTweek · 23/10/2020 21:25

I hugged my MIL once. And her husband after his dad passed away. Apart from that, and a quick smear test at my GP surgery, I don't think I've touched anyone outside of my immediate family for months. I'm not very touchy feely but this is quite unusual even for me.

screamingchild · 23/10/2020 21:29

In the last month,
Husband
Young sons
Mum
Dad
Sister
MIL
SIL
Nail technician
Dentist
Four children at work in primary school when I put arm around shoulders or rubbed their back because they were sobbing.
Baby niece
Family at my Nan's funeral

kittensarecute · 24/10/2020 10:55

@kittensarecute

About 5 in total, I haven't even hugged my best friend and he's the huggiest person you'll ever meet but he's taking Covid very seriously due to his asthma,
Oh and my cat and my stepbrother's gorgeous dog who i walk three times a day (if pets count)
kittensarecute · 24/10/2020 10:56

*sorry week not day!

GreenPlum · 24/10/2020 11:03

Three in my household and three nurses for flu jab, blood test & cervical smear. They were all masked and gloved.

MrsMop1964 · 24/10/2020 11:24

One- my daughter. However this is the norm for me- can't stand touchy feely-ness at all.

MenaiMna · 24/10/2020 11:37

5: DH, DD, DN (toddler), 2 nurses who took my blood a total of 5 times.

Astrabees · 24/10/2020 14:01

5, and two of those were very pleasurable indeedGrin
