How many people have you touched in the last 6 months?

Went for a walk with a friend the other day and accidentally brushed her arm going through a gate. It felt very odd. Thinking about it, apart from that I really don't think I've touched anyone else outside of my household since march.

Was then talking to another friend about it and she reckoned she'd touched about 20. Not job related, just socially. Wtf?!

So what's your number?? Feel like this is the covid version of the 'how many people have you slept with?' threads!! 🤣

Just my DH and children on a day to day basis.

I work in care and once a week or so I may be supporting someone who needs hands on support but even this is being kept to a minimum and I’m all PPE’d up so not sure it really counts anyway.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/10/2020 10:58

DP who I live with
Hairdresser
Eyebrow lady
Dentist
Flu jab pharmacist
Plus my friend who is a big hugger, twice - it just seems too strange not to hug him, and we’re both still alive

The weirdest thing for me was at the start when I wasn’t sure if we were allowed to pet animals. I am forever making friends with local cats and dogs, but only touched our own cat for months. I’m right back on it now though.

Comefromaway · 22/10/2020 10:59

My husband, my son, my daughter, my son's girlfriend. I may have touched my mil too as she has dementia and we had to care for her when fil was in hospital.

MrsBennetsnerves · 22/10/2020 11:02

Husband, cat, 2 nurses, 2 doctors.

BoulangerieBabs · 22/10/2020 11:03

My household
Hairdresser
Nurse taking bloods
Pharmacist giving me flu jab
Colleague who was sobbing, it felt inhumane to just leave them without giving them a hug.

andadietcoke · 22/10/2020 11:04

DH and DTs. Baby nephew and toddler niece who needed toilet help. One friend, and a doctor.

Fuckityfucksake · 22/10/2020 11:05

My dh and dc
My sister and nieces
Hugged a colleague who needed comforting.

People who've touched me
hairdresser
GP
Hospital Dr.

It is bizarre when you actually think about it. I was a 'toucher' back in the old days (pre-march 2020)

CrackersDontMatter · 22/10/2020 11:06

Loads but I work in a nursing home. Outside of work, my husband and children -6, my parents -2

So 8 but counting residents at work it's probably closer to 60.

Ragwort · 22/10/2020 11:07

Quite a few, I work in retail and most people seem to forget that you're not meant to give someone cash in their hand & they automatically put their hand out to receive change - also in a small shop it's almost impossible to avoid touching or bumping into people, particularly in our minuscule stock room.

Not overly bothered - just pleased not to have to do any 'social' hugging or kissing which I loathe Grin.

yearinyearout · 22/10/2020 11:10

Three. DH and two dc

randomsabreuse · 22/10/2020 11:11

Few drs as had appendicitis, so loads of prodding...

Have "rescued" friends kids stuck in swing seats or half escaping from rucksack carriers, and they've rescued mine in similar situations...

Missing general contact, despite all the medical stuff...

IndieTara · 22/10/2020 11:12

Just my DD, XH keeps trying to hug me and I keep side stepping...

annonymousse · 22/10/2020 11:17

100's. At least 20 per day when I'm at work.

Personal life - about 6

redcarbluecar · 22/10/2020 11:26

Maybe 10, but no regular physical contact with anyone.

LindaEllen · 22/10/2020 11:32

Only my partner since March.

QueenStromba · 22/10/2020 11:32

A radiologist, a nurse at the hospital, a hospital consultant and I think four phlebotomists. They've presumably all touched hundreds of people. This is with the majority of my health stuff being done over the phone. I'm not entirely sure how the whole protect the vulnerable and let everyone else catch it thing is supposed to work.

lughnasadh · 22/10/2020 11:34

No idea.

I'm not avoiding touching people, but it wouldn't really register if I/they did. get close.

I'm not really a tacile person, but if someone throws an arm
around me or something I won't faint away for fear of covid.

ifonly4 · 22/10/2020 11:37

Well I've chosen to touch my DH and DD and give my Mum one hug with our masks on. Another here that works in retail though and regular contact with money being handed over - not good for them or me.

Sockwomble · 22/10/2020 11:39

Dh, ds, a relative just before they died, flu jabber and dental hygienist. Visited my parents in the summer but socially distanced. Still not gone back to hairdresser who is my only other regular 'touch'

Bingbongbinglybong · 22/10/2020 11:40

Four people.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 22/10/2020 11:43

Loads - I work with small children, there’s no avoiding it.

ClaudiaWankleman · 22/10/2020 11:46

Hundreds.
Contact during sport, busy tubes and trains, someone fell on me on the bus etc.

I think human contact fulfils something in me that I need.

yeOldeTrout · 22/10/2020 11:48

I think most of my contacts have been when getting change back (I still use cash).

More than a micro-second brush: 1 friend & 5 housemates. No occupational exposure. No relatives in UK.

PineappleTart · 22/10/2020 11:48

No one. Oh wait I got a flu jab. That's it, in over 7 months and it's very wearing

HazeyJaneII · 22/10/2020 11:51

Thankyou @Husky12
I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm pleased to hear you had that moment of contact I'm sure it meant the world to your mum!
Sadly she was in a medically induced coma, but I would love to think the impression of my touch was there when her life support was turned off.
Like many others on this thread, I've never been a big hugger and I am not a touchy feely person, but my mum was, and know she found it really hard in those weeks of lockdown and shielding, to not have physical contact with anyone. If she's in any sort of heaven, she is sat holding the hands of random strangers listening to their life stories and woes and giving her grandchildren a massive hug.
