This is pure data, NOT for the "worried about Corona"

People have just put personal messages in case @BigChocFrenzy peeks in, it looks like her account has been deleted so this was the only place I could do so. Some of us liked her style and it's constructive when somebody is hurt to let them know that.

ancientgran · 23/10/2020 20:14

IceCreamSummer seems to have deleted hers as well.

I'm amazed that you are happy with all the messages MRex, you are normally the first to pull people up on anything not data related.

I'm not sure what there is to like in telling people to fuck off but each to their own.

Shrillharridan · 23/10/2020 20:16

@bigchocfrenzy
You are a fucking LEGEND 💜

ancientgran · 23/10/2020 20:17

Shrillharridan you realise that isn't the same as telling people to fuck off?

Coquohvan · 23/10/2020 20:23

@FingonTheValiant

Oh found it, 184 hospital deaths in 24 hours and 114 in care homes since Tuesday.
Oh @Fingon I read that earlier so sad today’s numbers again. Take care Flowers
boys3 · 23/10/2020 20:40

7 day moving average - past month - for English regions.

North East looks a lot more positive (as in 7 day average largely flat)

The two recent big number reporting days clearly impacting most though.

I found this piece on the BBC really interesting. It is explaining why covid is so dangerous. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54648684

There's a thread attacking that article for scaremongering

regional 7 day rolling positivity rates
That's quite stark, isn't it! The localisation of the last few weeks may be on the turn.
ancientgran · 23/10/2020 21:42

There's a thread attacking that article for scaremongering Yes I saw that, it's written by a journalist so you have to accept they are selling a story. I still thought there was some interesting information in there.

boys3 · 23/10/2020 22:02

It;s quite mixed picture in the SW though isn't it @ancientgran

Exeter improving after the initial Uni surge, Bristol and BCP not so great.

Overall though a fair number with a lower rate in the past seven days as opposed to the seven prior to that - caveat going up to the 20th does risk further cases being yet to add. I'll have to see if these graphs still look the same tomorrow evening.

All in the context of the English median cases per 100,000 being over 120 per 100,000 in the seven days to 20th Oct.

ancientgran - you're the one who usually goes off on a tangent, wittering on about all sorts of things not data related. I don't think this thread is going to be as useful now.

boys3 · 23/10/2020 22:11

I don't think we often reference Googlebox on these threads. However final segment of the show that has just finished was on Andrew Marr with Michael Gove and the 9 billion cost (so far) of track & trace. To which the Leeds lasses comment was we could have had security guards stood outside everyone who should be self-isolating.

At £25k a pop (full cost of employment but probably on the high side) that would pay for 360,000 of them for a year; or 720,000 if just a six month contract.

She may have had a point.

boys3 · 23/10/2020 22:14

Googlebox???? Gogglebox

cathyandclare · 23/10/2020 22:23

Anecdata alert. Dd Is at Bristol uni and commented that people came back to term much later there than friends at Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds and Notts.

The surge in Infections has been slower ( She thinks time rather than behaviour related) but things are noticeably changing now.

boys3 · 23/10/2020 22:24

Nottingham, city, looking better - but about to mightily irritate some its suburbs - the districts within the conurbation all double figure positivity, and creeping up too.

and in the hope that focus and civility returns suggested bedtime reading.

Bristol Uni is reporting 1,152 cases amongst the students and 25 amongst staff in the period Oct 7-23; over that period Bristol reported an overall 2,129, meaning the Uni accounts for more than half by itself.

cathyandclare · 23/10/2020 22:33

Yes Patricia, and looking at the map the purple areas are in the centre and Stoke Bishop which corresponds with halls.

Interestingly, Redland and Clifton where 2nd and 3rd years rent are lagging behind. It could be less close contact out if halls, or ( as I suspect) less push to test.

PatriciaHolm · 23/10/2020 22:45

And that would fit with this from the PHE Surveillance data - showing greater incidence in Uni Year 1.

Keepdistance · 23/10/2020 23:08

Cathy have we got a map of bristol?

Waveifyouknowme · 23/10/2020 23:16

boys3 BCP is less than great. Three senior schools complety closed, senior schools with whole years isolating, two special schools closed, loads of primary with classes isolating. Three nurserys shut. This combined with the idea that as we are in the 'sauf" we were hit hard in March which was a lie (South often gets lumped with London)
This combined with the poor hospital facilities (recent combination of two major hospitals for the detriment of many) and poor road structures (no motorway to ship sick people) and the high incident of elderly means we are fucked. Add all the above to the hidden deprevation, the reliance on hospitality /tourism and the fact that our cunt of an MP, who constantly votes against welfare support, is blind to what is happening in his ward means that before long we will understand what RTB is saying.

Side note, I am sad at what has happened. There are so few spaces for intelligent women, we have enough outside forces trying to silence us, we should support each other regardless of our viewpoints.
