F you Boris

There will be civil unrest in Manchester following this and I don’t blame them.

People won’t follow the rules as they have no respect for the government any more. Does anyone? Incompetence bullshit and lies.

'Where really should the responsibility for out of control virus lay? Isn’t it, really and truly, with those spreading it? When we all know how it is spread, if everyone did their part, it shouldn’t be like it is in Manchester.'

People are just unable to take any kind of responsibility. All over mn we have posters merrily declaring they will do what the fuck they like, then when we have a situation like GM it's Johnsons fault for not helping the poor Northerners.

Compliance needs ramming down people's necks. We have the old chestnut of 'they lifted lockdowns too soon!!! ' but then of course we have the snowflakes wanging on about 'dictatorships' if they don't do it soon enough.

Numbers in July/ aug of course meant things could be lifted a bit, all the people in the NW had to do was follow basic social distancing advice.

'People are catching it in hospital, work, schools then taking it home.'

Yes, then households mix. We had someone, was it this thread? I forget, there's been so many selfish twats, who was having dinner parties and gatherings because well, 'fuck Boris' seemed to be the gist.

As the last couple of posts show, some people just like the idea that we could contain the virus with personal responsibility much more than they like the idea that once it's endemic, the time when masks etc could actually curb the spread has passed. And refuse to think about what a virus being endemic actually means. I understand their feelings to an extent, it at least gives the impression of some agency. That's more attractive than the alternative. None of them can ever manage to explain precisely how a virus that's endemic can actually be curbed in a society where kids go to school, millions of people have to attend physical workplaces and some jobs just can't be done remotely though. Its all slogans.

'the time when masks etc could actually curb the spread has passed. And refuse to think about what a virus being endemic actually means.'

The evidence that masks could ever curb the spread has always been weak, mhowever when people are unable to socially distance for example on public transport it is better than nothing.

It is very easy (as you demonstrate) to shrug and be all it's endemic blah blah whilst ignoring the very comments on mn where people just cannot be arsed to be compliant. Not mixing households and keeping 2m away from people has been proven to reduce transmission. I've no ides why we've become such a hapless, selfish nation.

CrappleUmble · 23/10/2020 15:49

I said etc to include SD, not mixing households and the other things you mention, to be clear.

As for shrugging, that's what you're doing when it's pointed out that these things only go so far in an environment where the population is at work and school. It isn't ignoring, it is pointing out that we cannot simply prevent all transmission from taking place now. Hapless selfish blah blah slogan personal responsibility virtue signal blah some more.

@SheepandCow

The Blair led changes (enthusiastically continued by those who came after him) have brought about (or at least significantly exacerbated) the dreadful postcode lottery situation we sadly see so much nowadays. Be it NHS treatment, mental health support, social care, or housing. Terrible.
Have to agree with this...

I forget, there's been so many selfish twats,

Predictable I've got 3 close friends who have tested positive this week, all the parents have been infected by their kids who were infected by school. How is this selfish? Should all kids be pulled out of school?
