Does anyone avoid shops and shop online?

OP posts:
chocolatenut · 16/10/2020 20:16

yes I am only really shopping online

Funkypolar · 16/10/2020 20:21

Only because I hate masks and standing outside in the rain. The death of the high street.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 16/10/2020 20:21

Yes, I go to the supermarket because aldi don't deliver near me but that's it, clothes, house stuff, everything else I do online.

PetitFours · 16/10/2020 20:22

Yes, apart from the supermarket. The only thing I've been to buy in person recently was a piece of furniture that I wanted to see in person first.

CatToddlerUprising · 16/10/2020 20:22

Yes. Since March I’ve been to the local corner shop twice, supermarket once and a high street once (for school shoes plus two other shops)

DominaShantotto · 16/10/2020 20:23

I can't wear a mask - the current hatred toward those who can't (and no, lanyards are not a magical cure for this - I still get shit with one on) means that I don't go out to shops or anywhere masks are required.

I do school runs and the odd Costa drive-thru

eurochick · 16/10/2020 20:23

As much as possible, yes. I hate wearing a mask and there's no point clothes shopping in person if you can't try anything on.

Megan2018 · 16/10/2020 20:25

I did this even before the pandemic. Shops are to be avoided at all costs, all the time.

We buy 95% of things online, only go in to a shop if there’s no alternative.

I have never understood shopping as a leisure activity though.

Kazmerelda · 16/10/2020 20:26

Exactly this. Tbh for the last couple of years I have felt the high street was dire and would often come home empty handed and order the items I needed online. Food shop been delivered for years. Only really went out for lunch or dinner.

As well as the masks, people being rude and a lack of social distancing puts me off more now!

Whenwillow · 16/10/2020 20:27

Yep, but I've always hated shopping so no change for me. I'm not neurotic - I do the supermarket shop.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 16/10/2020 20:30

Yes, I can get everything online or delivered by local businesses.

Don’t see the point in risking shops when it can be avoided. Not to mention lots dont seem to think SD applies to them and too many non mask wearers.

Lemonsyellow · 16/10/2020 20:32

I go to the supermarket and places like Boots and Superdrug in person. I haven’t been shopping at all otherwise, not even online.

Heyha · 16/10/2020 20:32

I went into the supermarket for the 3rd time in 6 months last week- hated every second so won't be repeating in a hurry.

I will go into my corner shop, petrol station (if I can't be arsed to drive to pay at pump), supermarket for click and collect, and my animal feed merchant as that's basically a massive barn with three or four people in it when it's busy. I miss having a browse of the random aisles in Lidl and Aldi but that's about it.

ElvisPresleysSideburns · 16/10/2020 20:33

Yes, have been getting all my food and everything else delivered since March. Have very occasionally popped into town just before cases started rising again, but only few things I can't order on line.

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/10/2020 20:34

No. I go into town less frequently but I don’t avoid shops.

I do get my food delivered by a supermarket but that’s a habit from way before Covid.

I also work in a shop, but it’s a gift shop set up, not on the high street.

MiracletoCome · 16/10/2020 20:34

Yes, I hate shopping now in shops, easier to buy everything online including groceries.

MsAnnFrope · 16/10/2020 20:36

For groceries etc I’ve gone back to deliveries but I like to support our local indie shops so have been there to buy books, chocolates and sewing stuff.

Viv0321 · 16/10/2020 20:37

Is it wrong that I’m annoyed that Bandm and Poundland don’t deliver? Blush

I go to Lidl and Aldi, because they are small and I can get in and out quickly, have not brought any clothes this year, but last week went to a small independent boutique and got a lovely warm winter down coat. I’m not going into town because I hate wearing a mask!! Of course I wear one in the shops but don’t wear on outside. Have decided that if Queen Nicol says you have to wear them out side that I will not do it!!

thriftyhen · 16/10/2020 20:42

Just supermarkets, one lovely charity shop and the rest is eBay or Freecycle. I'm not a fan of new stuff, so have avoided the high street for a long time.

rosie1959 · 16/10/2020 20:42

Yes everything on line apart from the ofd bread/milk
Not because I am particularly afraid of catching coronavirus but because I can stand masks not being able to try anything and being glared at if you happen to walk the wrong way

QueenofLean · 16/10/2020 20:45

Yes, not because I’m worried about Covid but because the whole thing is such a fucking ballache now.
Hate wearing a mask, you can’t try anything on... there’s no point.
I’ve saved quite a bit of money though as I used to browse and buy things that took my fancy. So it’s been good for my wallet.

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/10/2020 20:47

Hate being surrounded by people in masks. I can't read faces. So I'm not going into shops and largely avoiding anywhere I need a mask.

PracticingPerson · 16/10/2020 20:48

I go to thep shops I like and avoid the ones I don't. I like to shop in person but some shops are too stressful now. But I couldn't shop for books online, sacrilegious!!

I wish B&M, home bargains and primark would. There is a poundshop online though.
