Does anyone avoid shops and shop online?

OP posts:
FieldsAndSun · 16/10/2020 20:51

Have only bought one item in a shop since lockdown and hated it so went back to shopping online

Whatever9999 · 16/10/2020 20:52

I do. But mostly because I struggle with rules, in so far as I need to stick to them 100% and get very stressed if other people don't. I also struggle wearing a mask and start stimming when I do, which means I get stared at (and funny comments), but if I don't wear it (and wear my lanyard) I also get the stares and comments

YouAndMeAndTheDevilMakesThree · 16/10/2020 20:53

Yes. Not because of Covid though, I just hate going to shops! So my shopping habits havent really changed much.

RuthW · 16/10/2020 20:54

Me. I've done one shopping trip since March.

AlwaysLatte · 16/10/2020 20:54

Yep! Now I've got the deliveries sussed, so I'm now booking the next one 3 weeks in advance. And everything else on Amazon/John Lewis/etc. And clothes shopping. I prefer to shop this way anyway, I'm just more organised now!

CurlsandCurves · 16/10/2020 20:55

Just the supermarket.

Not needed anything else aside from clothes for the kids. Which you can’t try on so might as well order online.

Emmapeeler2 · 16/10/2020 20:55

Yes, not because I’m worried about Covid but because the whole thing is such a fucking ballache now.

This.

maddiemookins16mum · 16/10/2020 20:58

Yep, but I did 70% of mine online before Covid. Now I do 90%.

Thanksitsgotpockets · 16/10/2020 20:59

Yes. I can wear a mask briefly to grab one or two items from a supermarket but not for proper grocery shopping. I've done this about a half dozen times since they were brought in.
I've been in one none food shop since masks. Didn't buy anything. It was too stressful.
My child got the bare minimum for their birthday, none of the nice little incidental things you see out shopping.

Msmcc1212 · 16/10/2020 20:59

Megan2018

I did this even before the pandemic. Shops are to be avoided at all costs, all the time.

I have never understood shopping as a leisure activity though.

^this Grin although I do quite like little gift shops.

MarshmallowManiac · 16/10/2020 21:01

I have been going into them as mostly I don't want the high street to die.

Iheardarumour · 16/10/2020 21:01

Big shop at Ocado. Odds and ends from a local shop or supermarket. I still do business at the post office, Superdrug, the local card and gift shop, pubs, restaurants, the bike shop and takeaways. We have a good local high street and I like to support them.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 16/10/2020 21:04

Never used to visit shops pre covid, however we are planning to go to the local city and the shops to do our Christmas shopping as we want to support the highstreet, especially small independent shops. Probably will make sod all difference to their survival but I'd like to do something

KNain · 16/10/2020 21:05

Nope. I work in the city centre so I still go shopping on lunch breaks / after work. Have to say, the shops in our town have been pretty busy for the last few weeks - certainly can tell they're gearing up for Christmas. Mask and sanitizer doesn't bother me. Only shops with a queue are Primark and H&M in our town so I don't tend to go to them much - i don't mind queuing for a bit, but when I'm in my dinner I don't have much time and I didn't buy much from there anyway tbh.

I still shop online as well. Usually do click & collect now though.

LightUpLetters · 16/10/2020 21:07

I don’t like wearing a mask so all shopping is done online

VictoriaBun · 16/10/2020 21:07

Haven't been in any type of shop at all since March .

Bargebill19 · 16/10/2020 21:08

Yes. Online saves the hassle of driving, paying for parking, pick pockets and crowds.
Shopping sat beside the fire with a cuppa - what’s not to love?
I only go out to our small local corner shop/post office and pets at home.

wishing3 · 16/10/2020 21:08

Not been since March. I’m pregnant, partner was shielding so just feel that it’s unnecessary risk when can buy online. I’ve tried to buy local stuff but get that I haven’t been as helpful to local economy as others.

Passthecake30 · 16/10/2020 21:09

I’ve always had a weekly food delivery, but pre-Covid I would nip out to the shops for random bits and bobs. Now I plan my meals, with the main aim to avoid supermarkets at all costs. I hate wearing masks, and find the whole social distancing thing stressful.

The only actual shopping we’ve done aside from that is Clarks and sports direct, just before school. No point in looking for anything else if we can’t try on.

MuchTooTired · 16/10/2020 21:12

I do 90% of my shopping online now. The other 10% is in our local family owned supermarket who have taken the rules quite seriously so I don’t feel at risk in there, and the pharmacy to get my medicine.

I’ve never really enjoyed shopping though!

mosscarpet · 16/10/2020 21:23

yep, definitely. In truth I used to do about 80% shopping on line anyway. Now I have become an even more efficient on line shopper! Been to an actual shop 4 times since April - supermaket x2 and then ikea and Dunelm with dd before she went to uni.
Not bothered about COVID (I'm at work every day,in a patient facing role in NHS) but really really cant stand all the restrictions, being told off for going the wrong way, queing, rude stressed people etc... so I plan on basically not going into an actual shop ever again if I can get away with it!

Greyshaggyrug · 16/10/2020 21:23

Yes, I always food shopped online anyway. I can’t stand masks so don’t go to the shops and won’t until they’re not required. I’m definitely richer!

Mcmole · 16/10/2020 21:29

Yes, 100 percent online. I still shop loads but in the comfort of my own home and where I don't need to worry about my glasses steaming up with a mask. I also try to use local online suppliers too - bakers, fruit and veg, milk, ice cream etc.

Vivana · 16/10/2020 21:40

No I go out a lot but maybe cutting back on that now as of a new job with a odd shift pattern. I also worked in a supermarket right through lock down and just left that job after a few years in it. It doesn't bother me all the people and I'm use to wearing a mask.
