Time taken to get test results

I’m really annoyed it takes so long! Surely the government should have this sorted by now. The whole family is on day 3 off school and work. My sons cough was borderline in my opinion. I’m wishing I hadn’t bothered getting him tested so we weren’t in this position! We’ve been tested before and had results in under 12 hrs, so it is possible.

I can’t be the only one thinking like this, surely the delay in getting results is going to put some people off being tested at all.

South east - surrey

Safar · 21/10/2020 13:24

My friend had one for her son in Surrey last week and got it on the 5th day. Hope they arrive today 🤞

grenlei · 21/10/2020 13:27

Tests in East Kent seem to be fairly quick atm (although as everwhere I am sure there is a lot of variation), my DS made an appt Sunday evening, had the test Monday at midday and got the results yesterday evening - so about 36 hours from test and 48 hours from his first call. I think that's pretty reasonable.

BatSegundo · 21/10/2020 13:39

SW also.

Safar · 21/10/2020 14:08

Hmm maybe the south west has low numbers because they’ve lost all our tests 🤣. Ahhh you’ve got to laugh at this, some serious improvement is needed soon!

pickles93 · 21/10/2020 14:27

I've just had my negative result back, tested 11am yesterday morning. 27 hours wait in total, East Midlands (but not a current 'hotspot').

Safar · 21/10/2020 14:31

That’s much more like it, glad you got a quick response.
I think we should ask for data on number of tests which get ‘lost’, I feel sure I won’t get a response now.

RiseUpWoman · 21/10/2020 14:45

Day 7 for us.

Moomin37 · 21/10/2020 15:49

Southwest here too... given up counting days because clearly the result will never arrive!

kittlesticks · 21/10/2020 16:18

Going with never here too!

buckleten · 21/10/2020 17:24

On day 9, still nothing - have given up waiting now!

bettycat81 · 21/10/2020 17:30

Home tests booked Saturday afternoon, arrived and sent back monday afternoon, results received this (wednesday) afternoon.

4 days total. Too long if I was working away from home.

Safar · 21/10/2020 17:30

Unbelievably we’ve just got the result! So 6 days plus a few hours. What a relief!
I can’t believe the stress we’ve been through. Things need to improve I will be contacting our MP

Whycatspaint · 21/10/2020 17:30

Here’s a little bit of hope Finally after 166 hours a negative! So sorry for guys still waiting it’s a nightmare and I really hope you also get yours soon

Moomin37 · 21/10/2020 17:33

Ooh we've just received a negative result 🥳 Still fuming that it's taken so long but hugely relieved that we can now go out and I'll be able to concentrate on my work tomorrow. Really hope others get good news soon.

Begonias · 21/10/2020 17:36

Did my test on Monday morning, posted it to Glasgow got the result this morning at 6am. I'm in West Yorkshire

kittlesticks · 21/10/2020 18:32

Omg @Moomin37 !!
Really glad it arrived - although I still have no hope for ours!

throwaway100000 · 21/10/2020 18:34

I received my (new) result in 25 hours! I’m in the Midlands.

tattooedmummy1 · 21/10/2020 18:36

I'm in Kent, my last test took 4 days to come back. Which is short really. But it was routine test (healthcare worker) and I had none of the big 3 symptoms. So I did the school run for 3 days, went to wilko for cat food, and went to work. And then it came back positive.

The test before took 11 days to come back! Luckily that was negative.

teamBoo · 21/10/2020 19:56

Finally received ours this evening- 8 days after testing. A negative- phew! What a mess it all is. I shall be writing to my MP.

Moomin37 · 21/10/2020 20:25

Thanks @kittlesticks - 🤞 that you get some good news soon

rooty123 · 21/10/2020 21:14

Got ours back and it's... Inconclusive... 😭😭😭

Whycatspaint · 21/10/2020 21:19

@rooty123 so sorry what a nightmare. What day are you on?

rooty123 · 21/10/2020 21:20

Got test on Sunday am

Noregrets78 · 22/10/2020 00:10

Joining in - DD tested first thing Monday. So she's missed three days of school so far, including A-level practical which she might have to wait until next year for. Thoroughly fed up, wish we didn't bother, she feels well now! And of course if it's positive then it's been circulating in her 200+ bubble at school for that long. Grrr. Tested at Ashford Kent.
