@Jerble
good news that you got it and also good news that they are doing better at managing the supplies that they have. If that is repeated everywhere then every chance of less wastage generally.

Like a lot of us on here, the lack of side effects lead me to think I'd probably had the placebo.

Both of my children are ill. DD tested positive on Sunday and DS tested this morning but waiting for result.

So far I feel ok! I'm beginning to wonder whether I had the vaccine after all!

GreenPlum · 23/01/2021 11:01

DS tested positive!

This will be interesting!

So far I feel fine!

Frazzled2207 · 23/01/2021 11:05

Fingers crossed for you and your family. I would be tempted to take a test at the smallest hint of a symptom. Do you have a DP too?

As I understand it the vaccine is more likely to stop you getting ill than stop you getting it at all. But of course you can get it asymptomatically vaccine or no vaccine so not sure that would prove anything.

Thank you. So far they're both coping ok.

I've got the three home test kits that we have to use as part of the trial and I will use those to test as soon as I feel anything. So far though I'm 100%. I don't want to jump in too soon!

I'm divorced but my daughter's boyfriend is staying. He lives alone so formed a bubble with us and he was here when she tested so he's stuck here now! So far he's ok. We live with my elderly and disabled father. He had the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Dec 24th. So far he's ok too.

What is the best guess for when the novavax trial results will come out?

BG2015 · 23/01/2021 12:33

Green plum I'd be tempted to go for a lateral flow test, we have a few centres here where I live where you can go if you have no symptoms

Then you could start the home tests if positive

GreenPlum · 23/01/2021 13:08

OK do you have a link where I can find my closest site? I think I thought it was only schools and unis that we're doing lateral flow tests. I've been totally on it with everything up to now for months and months rules, tiers, restrictions, days, tests, criteria this, that, the other, symptoms, bla bla bla, and I'm just beginning to lose my grasp 😞

BG2015 · 23/01/2021 14:43

Just google book a lateral flow test. I'm in Staffordshire and there's a few and others that pop up from time to time

GreenPlum · 23/01/2021 15:29

I did but it's just the university

I was definitely under the impression that there would be some definite news in February and that it could be approved in March/April

We're expecting some interim results in next week or so ( I've been doing remote data entry for Novavax trial) ...colleagues have been vaccinating at Wrexham
Frazzled2207 · 24/01/2021 08:26

Oooh how exciting

Vaccinating with novavax or gone to the vaccination programme you mean. Sorry, got myself confused!

They've been vaccinating for the Novavax trial...recruited almost 500 people at Wrexham (15,000 recruited worldwide I gather) I also have colleagues who have volunteered to help with vaccination programme in general and have been vaccinating using Pfizer and Oxford vaccine ( I had Pfizer vaccine before Christmas but my 2nd appointment was cancelled last week and no idea when I'll be getting it now which is so frustrating as until I get this I'm not able to return to work) ...many of my colleagues have now also had their vaccination and some are recruiting into Covid treatment trials within hospital One thing this pandemic has shown is that clinical trials can be opened at much greater speed than before ( some within 2-3 weeks of protocol development) and all the bureaucracy that used to slow them down has been tightened up , which will hopefully be of benefit for future trials
GreenPlum · 24/01/2021 10:01

10,000 increasing to 15,000 in the UK.

Over 22,000 worldwide Smile

@Stopyourhavering64 I understand now. Thank you 😃

Cooroo · 26/01/2021 23:31

I had a 3 month appointment this week and they told us interim results due very shortly. If it's looking effective they will unblind and offer vaccine to placebo people. With 2nd dose in whatever the normal time span is.
We could get the vaccine without having to wait for it to be licenced.
I'm not a scientist and may have got the words wrong! But it was very exciting news as I'm only 61 and may still have a bit of a wait for vaccine otherwise. DP is regretting not volunteering!

GreenPlum · 27/01/2021 00:18

That's fantastic news! Thank you for letting us know.

My three month appointment in next Thursday so I'll ask too and hopefully will be told the same thing.

Both of my children currently have covid.

Yesterday I had a sore throat and a headache which is how their illness started so I logged onto the app and am using the three test kits they gave us. Today they've gone though and I feel fine again!

The first one just came back negative.

I'm thinking I had the vaccine!

andadietcoke · 27/01/2021 12:10

This is amazing news!! Fingers crossed. I'm there next Friday so will ask too.

Daftapath · 27/01/2021 13:18

I'm back on the 9th. Looking forward to seeing what they have to say!

BG2015 · 27/01/2021 16:44

I've started weekly lateral flow tests now as I'm a teacher.

First one is negative- hoping they all will be negative

BG2015 · 27/01/2021 16:45

Green plum let's hope that's the case and they all come back negative.

Frazzled2207 · 27/01/2021 21:16

@Cooroo

fabulous.

I am in on the 4th (and looking out for @andadietcoke) when I'm there!

What I don't get is surely they need the results of this batch of blood tests in before they make an announcement? And also I don't believe they would unblind us (unless needed) because even though there might be some interim data they also need to know how it performs over the full year?
