Yeah, Yorkshire linen had nice snuggly throws.

Someaddedsugar · 29/11/2020 08:49

23 December?! That's a bit mean!

I wish it was a Boyes too @PickAChew!

Not for everyone but I bought some hair dressing scissors on Amazon in the first lockdown and have been cutting my own fringe since - thankfully only on Teams calls for work and can angle my head so you won't see on the odd occasion it's been wonky Grin.

Have you had a look at the Fenwick's window on YouTube? I know it isn't exactly the same but it was quite a nice trip down memory lane and then a focus in each section of the window... apologies I can't remember if you were watching it live!

And that road at the Arnison centre is chaos - yesterday the car park wasn't busy but it took me 10 minutes to get from the new Burger Priest to the mini roundabout at Costa (must only be 100 metres max) because of the McDonalds queue!

Gilead · 29/11/2020 09:09

It was a surprise! Praying we don’t get snow now because I’m desperate to have it done!

I can imagine! Fingers crossed for you everything goes ahead as planned!
Someaddedsugar · 29/11/2020 09:32

I've just read an article saying tier 3 areas are looking likely to move to tier 2, with the potential for the tier system to be removed on 3 February. I wonder if that indicates another full lockdown in January as a final push...

MissEWeatherwax · 29/11/2020 12:09

There will be no business left if they close in January. God it is so depressing. Hopefully everyone can start getting the vaccine and life can start to go back to normal. They can keep the cleaning stations at the supermarket, I like themBlush
I can’t wait to be able to go to Costa and sit and watch the world go by.

MissEWeatherwax · 29/11/2020 12:13

The last time I cut my own fringe I had to wear a headband for a month it was that bad.
When I’m on teams calls, I turn the camera off. Mostly on mute too. I hate hearing people breath, it’s so annoying. Is probably worse because we have to wear headsets.

Shitfuckoh · 29/11/2020 13:31

I'd just like to be able to have a coffee with a friend and a decent rant without the DC listening. I don't mind if it's costa, my house or her house. Just.. adult company is really needed right now.
I'll mentally plan for us being Tier 3 until after New Year and if it changes that's a bonus, if not I won't be disappointed.

MissEWeatherwax · 29/11/2020 16:33

Yes, I’m resigned to us being in tier 3 into January. But I am never visiting Chester park again, when this is over. It’s so bad I’m going to feed the swans next time I go. I need to get a life.

PickAChew · 29/11/2020 17:52

@Someaddedsugar you're braver than me for going anywhere near the arnison centre on a Saturday! I'm doing my markses shop on Tuesday, this week, before it all opens up again.

I tackled my fringe during the first lockdown and it just wouldn't sit right, either curly or straight. I vowed to leave it alone after I had my hair cut in August. I've accepted that having a fringe isn't sustainable, for now, and I will just have to live with either showing off my wrinkly fivehead or looking like an old English sheepdog until regular cuts are possible, again!

Someaddedsugar · 29/11/2020 19:15

@PickAChew I did question my own sanity! I have no idea what made me think it was a sensible time or day to visit such a place. Never again!!

@MissEWeatherwax we went to Chester Park this afternoon (ended up leaving as it got extremely busy very quickly) and the swans were out in full force. DS was quite happy throwing bread from a distance while I stood guard. We were then mesmerised as a woman started throwing bread into the air and the seagulls were catching it while flying. Very impressive to watch!

MissEWeatherwax · 29/11/2020 19:33

I once saw someone throwing bread to the seagulls on Framwellgate bridge in Durham, was mesmerising and scary all at once.
And the time some seagulls attacked some school boys with their chips from Clems Grin.
Well done feeding the swans, there was a request for food on the save Chester le street Facebook page. So I will be taking bread and oats on my next walk. I will throwing down very fast and running away.Blush
I suppose there is nothing else to do is there. Normally all the christmas events start this weekend.
Was disappointed yesterday when I realised I could have attended a Christmas food market at CLS cricket club. Definitely going to next one.

MissEWeatherwax · 29/11/2020 21:59

The Beamish booking slots are open now for from 5 December. They have just posted on their Facebook page. I need to get organised and book.

MissEWeatherwax · 29/11/2020 23:12

The beamish slots aren’t open yet. I was too eager Blush

IggyAce · 30/11/2020 05:48

Beamish can be booked from 1st December at 10am. The bakery, sweet shop, pub and fish & chips will be open for take outs. I also assume they will have the little stalls selling hot drinks & gift shop bits.
We are hoping to get a visit booked.

Pretty rubbish here my isolation ends tomorrow yay. My ds went back to school last Tuesday and by Friday there was another positive case so he’s back to online learning & isolation until 11th. Spent Friday feeling quite down, I actually got up and went out for a walk at 6:30am on Saturday. It really helped me focus and feel better, I’ve really missed my daily walks. Looking forward to getting out tomorrow, so I can get my Christmas shopping finished.

Mind you my ds been put back into isolation has made me realise they should move schools to online learning for the last week of term. Otherwise there is a high risk of staff & children been in isolation over Christmas.

Someaddedsugar · 30/11/2020 07:33

@IggyAce hope you're ok. That sounds so hard - I wouldn't know if I was coming or going in that situation!

I totally agree - a family member is a teacher and has already said that knowing their luck they'll be isolating for the Christmas period.

DaddysGirl36 · 30/11/2020 10:32

I'm braving The Range today. I'm hopeful it'll be quiet as the rest of the shops open up this week. May nip to M & S too - trying to get a snow globe gin but they sell out as soon as stock comes in

Shitfuckoh · 30/11/2020 18:08

DS1 is so looking forward to getting out for a walk tomorrow - 14 days of isolation. No idea if he'll be returning to school next week yet or not.

I haven't been in a store that isn't the local shop since.. August!

TheSilveryPussycat · 30/11/2020 18:59

For an easier way in and out of the Arnison Centre, go via the Mercia Retail Park (the one with Smyths and KFC). I have been trying to find the motivation to go shopping at Sainsbury and M&S for several days.

PickAChew · 30/11/2020 20:52

Yes, that's what we do, though we still get stuck, sometimes.

OT: blast from the past.

gingercat02 · 30/11/2020 20:59

Pickachew DH gets really narky when I call JL Bainbridges 🤣

Gilead · 01/12/2020 09:48

I always go to the Arnison via Pity Me and as said that brings you via Smyths, Asda etc. Generally quiet.

PickAChew · 01/12/2020 13:06

The only disadvantage of going that way is the smell of Bell's makes me so hungry.

No problem today, though, as we had some for luch for DS1's birthday :)

Glad i went fairly early today, though. Only Next had a queue just after 10 but there was a big one for M&S by 11.

Gilead · 01/12/2020 13:50

🤣

PickAChew · 01/12/2020 17:49

Glad to see the market hall will be open every day, in the run up to Christmas. Also have the dates of the outdoor markets.
