She travelled from London by train from Scotland to London and back knowing she was positive! And visited parliament! no excuse for this.

Absolutely inexcusable. She’s shouldn’t have travelled down in the first place, let alone do the journey back. And her statement is along the lines of ‘I travelled back without seeking advice’. Whose advice would she have sought, Cummings?! She didn’t need advise, it’s perfectly clear that when you are COVID positive you don’t get on a train.

What does “suspending the whip” mean?

I just saw this on the news and shook my head in disbelief. It feels like everything is just total chaos.

Effectively she doesn’t have the support of the party/doesn’t represent them.

What annoys me is that they like to blame the public for flouting the rules and causing deaths as well as creating laws that make someone a criminal for seeing their friends and family but seemingly MPs from a variety of sides can bend the rules so they aren't inconvenienced the same as everyone else.

Frouby · 01/10/2020 20:13

Hope she gets the fine. That's absolutely disgusting.

PicsInRed · 01/10/2020 20:15

That is a fucking embarrassment.

PicsInRed · 01/10/2020 20:17

Although I would note that Scotland hasn't made an incursion into England like this in around 700 years, so there's that.

mrshoho · 01/10/2020 20:17

I'm loathed to judge the general public who may well have to take decisions and risks to keep a roof and food on the table. This MP would not have these financial worries and had no excuse for her actions.

Unbelievably selfish and reckless.

musicalfrog · 01/10/2020 20:27

Just wow. What the f......?

DonnaDonna01 · 01/10/2020 20:29

I don’t think she’s the only one, did anyone hear Chris Whitty’s reply to a journalist who asked if he followed the rules on the briefing yesterday - I do try or words to that effect wasn't very convincing!

trumpisaflump · 01/10/2020 20:33

This is absolutely shocking. Though if Nicola Sturgeon hadn't been so smug when Scottish COVID levels were low, and spoke of closing the 'border' with England I would possibly not enjoy some schadenfreude here.
This is not to trivialise her actions. She may well have infected others on that train.

HeyMacarona · 01/10/2020 20:35

“Ms Ferrier was one of the MPs who called on the prime minister's advisor Dominic Cummings to resign in the wake of the controversy over his visit to the north east of England during lockdown .”

“At the time, she said his actions had "undermined the sacrifices that we have all been making" and described his position as "untenable".”

Well that’s just awkward...

CactusForever · 01/10/2020 20:52

Bonkers! She should resign.

tobee · 01/10/2020 20:52

Chris Whitty saying he tries to follow the rules isn't in the same league as this MP though is it?

Keepdistance · 01/10/2020 21:02

Maybe now mps will realise how important mask wearing is in say classrooms etc.
Because you literally cannot trust other people!!!
I could vaguely understand travelling after taking a test though wouldn't do that. But to go be by PT while positive.
I also dont think people acknowledge that
Masks are not 100% so she could easily have infected others.
Even distancing in the HoC wouldnt make it safe just less unsafe.
But in classrooms kids are elbow to elbow with potentially another kid whose parents didnt SI after getting back from abroad or has been sent in positive or whose sibling is at home with a cough.

HRT135 · 01/10/2020 21:04

Should resign but bet she won’t. Who would leave that gravy train voluntarily?

NotAnotherUserNumber · 01/10/2020 21:22

This is disgusting behaviour. Even if there weren’t rules in place, how could someone be so selfish as to travel on public transport when they know they are infectious!

NotAnotherUserNumber · 01/10/2020 21:25

Apparently she also said:

“The public health advice is crystal clear. For the safety of others, anyone with coronavirus symptoms must self-isolate, in line with government guidance. They should not leave the house for any reason.”

So she did this very deliberately and knowing that she valued her convenience over the safety of others.

DonnaDonna01 · 01/10/2020 21:31

@tobee no it isn’t in the same league but worrying if the top medical advisor who is helping to create the rules and asking us to follow then can’t say he’s following them to the letter himself; what hope have we.

lljkk · 01/10/2020 21:35

Is she going to get the mega fine ,I mean, there are big fines now for not isolating, right?

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 01/10/2020 21:39

She 100% should resign. It's inexcusable as she would have given people covid on the train. What an absolutely heartless cow.

mrshoho · 01/10/2020 21:54

She had no fear of losing her job or income if she had done the right thing and taken the decision to isolate, so as others have said it was purely for her convenience or want that she took these decisions. How she can face her constituents again I don't know

True. Maybe he's trying to be honest? Or future proofing himself? Or tacitly saying the rules are hard to follow to the letter? Confused

notevenat20 · 01/10/2020 21:56

I think I am the odd one out but I don't really care. Millions of people are breaking the rules every week and this is what is causing the increase in infections. She is just added to that list.
