BJ to hold press conference with Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance tomorrow - new restrictions to be announced perhaps?

OP posts:
Areyousureted · 29/09/2020 12:52

Maybe no mixing with other households?

Sallycinnamum · 29/09/2020 12:57

From what I've read this morning it seems to be a general update with no new restrictions being announced.

californiagurl · 29/09/2020 13:04

@Sallycinnamum it's only just been announced as far as I can see - where is the information from earlier this morning?

TazMac · 29/09/2020 13:06

Yeah I’d guess no mixing with other households.

Andy Burnham is being quite vocal about the curfew and people piling into shops after pubs close, so maybe something on that too?

Sallycinnamum · 29/09/2020 13:13

Its been trending on Twitter since midday.

A couple of 'insiders' are saying the press conference will be reiterating what the current restrictions are but God only knows what they'll come up with tomorrow.

slipperywhensparticus · 29/09/2020 13:15

He can sod off with new restrictions we need to work on the latest ones first

HoneyBee03 · 29/09/2020 13:15

Maybe it's just to clarify the new restrictions for the lockdown areas in the North as currently Boris doesn't seem to have a clue.

Rushjob · 29/09/2020 13:29

What would be best is resignations from the three of them.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/09/2020 13:39

As a member of the government they don’t apply to him, so he probably doesn’t see the need to know them.
Yetiyoga · 29/09/2020 13:44

@Rushjob I like Chris Whitty. He seems sensible.

Yetiyoga · 29/09/2020 13:44

Anyone know what time this will be?

fabulous01 · 29/09/2020 13:48

Boris didn't know what the restrictions were today (he has just tweeted an apology for mis speaking) so doubt he can give us more restrictions ...

Qasd · 29/09/2020 13:50

What?! We have no idea if the other restrictions have worked yet! Certainly we are no longer in a situation of doubling every week whichever way we look at it I think we need a little longer to know if measures so far are enough..or else just go with another full lockdown and have done!

herecomesthsun · 29/09/2020 13:50

I see they avoided slipping it in before Bake Off this time Smile

molifly14 · 29/09/2020 13:53

I'd be very surprised if it's more new restrictions, case numbers have shrunk over the last three days (although it doesn't mean a lot) but we've not had enough time to know if the current restrictions have worked

herecomesthsun · 29/09/2020 13:55

"If you are a University student... you can /can't go/can to college because you have...you haven't...you have the right grades!

Now find some accommodation! and.... stay in it!...and DON'T have any parties...OR meet any one....OR talk to anyone....going to lectures? NO! that's ....not allowed....don't even MENTION sex"

poor students. It's even worse than the 80s with all the fear about emergent STDs.

Poor

HeyMacarona · 29/09/2020 13:58

Maybe this?:

Liverpool could be first city to impose two week 'circuit breaker' lockdown www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2020/09/29/two-week-circuit-breaker-lockdown-could-imposed-first-city/?WT.mc_id=tmgliveapp_iosshare_Av9j9kxFlvT1

Bibidy · 29/09/2020 14:07

Hopefully just some talk about what's going on in the local lockdown areas. Surely they won't put in more restrictions when they haven't even given the existing ones a chance to make a difference yet.

feellikeanalien · 29/09/2020 14:15

Whatever it is it won't be good news.

Rushjob · 29/09/2020 14:17
@Rushjob I like Chris Whitty. He seems sensible.
That job needs to be done by someone neutral, Whitty isn’t.

herecomesthsun · 29/09/2020 14:20

Maybe Boris is going to go over what are the rules again.

Friendsoftheearth · 29/09/2020 14:23

Just a guess, I don't have the inside track to No10 however I am pretty sure it is going to be: London circuit breaker lockdown I am almost certain. We have heard from our London firms that it must be skeleton essential workers only until further notice. Along with other large cities and other affected areas in England.

KatherineJaneway · 29/09/2020 14:25

Evening Standard said that the proposed plans might be in the North Easy and London - household mixing would be banned and shops, pubs and restaurants to close for two weeks. Who knows though.

Bluebellwoodsinjune · 29/09/2020 14:27

There are always leaks beforehand but none this time?

So maybe just current rules as PPs have said.
