This is what I heard when I turned on the news just a minute ago...by demonstrators in London today...I'm actually really shocked. Do people really think this?? There were A LOT of people at the demonstration...

Conspiracy theorists are seeking evidence of organisation in a world of entropy.

We all do in one way or another I suppose.

Lovemusic33 · 26/09/2020 20:46

I don’t think people should be calling the protesters “stupid”, everyone has a right to an opinion even if it doesn’t make sense to others. Some people may not agree with my covid beliefs but it doesn’t make them stupid or me stupid (though I have been called stupid.

I can see why some may not believe it exists, I believe it does exist But am also aware that people die in hospital of other causes but may have then tested positive so it’s counted as another covid death when in fact they died of something else (Cancer, heart attack, other illness), we are then given a false picture of how many people have actually died from covid?

Some people do believe in these conspiracy that seem totally crazy and not possible, others are just out to disagree and rebel about the whole being controlled thing (being told what to do by a government they have no trust in).

I’m getting pretty annoyed about the posts on social media slagging people off for not complying to the rules, people wanting praise for not breaking the rules and the people posting about covid not being real (linking to various conspiracy theories). But at the end of the day, everyone is entitled to a opinion and tbh none of us really have a clue what’s going on or what will happen next.

Covid deaths are exaggerated, I work for the nhs and have colleagues who work on oncology wards who have told me that patients are being listed as Covid deaths if, they had tested positive for Covid at the time of death or anytime in the past, even if they'd died of an unrelated cause like cancer.

Serin · 26/09/2020 20:48

I've lost one colleague and nearly another to covid.
I've caught it myself (from a patient) back in March.
Very unlikely that a GP would get it as they are hardly seeing anyone around here! [Grin]

It is what it is now, I think the risks from the neglect of other health conditions and mental health conditions such as depression/anxiety and loneliness are actually becoming as important as covid now. I think it's unfair to lock up the young any more now. We should obviously do what we can to protect the elderly and the vulnerable but for some of my patients the loneliness is a fate worse than death.

Also 3000 children die every DAY from Malaria. (UNICEF 2019). Don't see anyone panicking about that 😢 but of course they are black and poor.

alreadytaken · 26/09/2020 20:48

@SheepandCow Test and trace in the community is absolutely nothing to do with the NHS. The contract was given to Serco, a private company. Responsibility rests with Dido Harding, the chum of Boris who used to head up talk talk - remember the failures there.

larrygrylls · 26/09/2020 20:49

Roo,

For what purpose would people exaggerate Covid deaths?

Unsure33 · 26/09/2020 20:51

That’s ok let them all take a test then volunteer in the hospitals without ppe. Simples

SheepandCow · 26/09/2020 20:51
@Staffy1 I just think this. The government says that they care about people dying from coronavirus.

They are saying that they are doing his for humanitarian reasons. Yet, we have many, many accounts of people who are suffering in this time due to-
Health services being cancelled
Support groups and support workers being cancelled.
Many people's physical and mental health are being ruined at this time.

Also we have doctors on here saying that they are being told to record Non covid deats as covid deaths.

It all does not add up. I don't know what they are doing, but people are right to be suspicious.
That's a laugh. The government doing it for humanitarian reasons...!
As if. They're (failing to) put in place some very half-hearted restrictions to save the economy. Unchecked Covid running through the population would be economically devastating.

We don't know who anyone is on here. Just because someone claims to be a doctor doesn't mean they are one. It also doesn't mean they're not also a far right fascist.

Absolutely, if CV was 3rd world disease, with around 1 million deaths in 9 months, would be lucky to get a thread on MN much less billions spent on treatments and vaccines.

alreadytaken · 26/09/2020 20:52

Roowig2020 - another one who is making things up. People are counted as Covid deaths if that is what killed them, cancer would probably also be listed as contributing to the death. If the cancer killed them but they also had covid the cancer would be the main cause of death with covid listed if it contributed to the death.

Unsure33 · 26/09/2020 20:53

@Roowig2020

Well I know someone who works in the nhs who says you are wrong and they are dreading hospital admissions rising again .

So ?

That explains a lot.
What an absolute (very unfunny) joke.

vera99 · 26/09/2020 20:54

The only thing I know for certain at this point is that the virus is dangerous, Johnson is incompetent and Netflix is not infinite. By spring we will have a much clearer picture of how dangerous is the first the latter two we know already.

jasjas1973 · 26/09/2020 20:54

Doesn't matter as unless you have a CV positive test & die within 28 days, whats on the death cert wont count toward the death total.

alreadytaken · 26/09/2020 20:54

A real life doctor, someone who can be shown to be what he claims, talking about death certificates

www.independent.co.uk/voices/coronavirus-nhs-doctors-death-certificates-conspiracy-theories-a9513981.html

frumpety · 26/09/2020 20:55

The thing that kills you kills you. On a death certificate there will be the thing that killed you, anything that led to that unfortunate event and possibly other factors that contributed to it.

MargeProopsSpecs · 26/09/2020 20:57

@alreadytaken

it's very obvious, *@mintychoc1* that you are not a doctor and that you are lying. You can claim to be anything you want on the internet but only the gullible will believe you.
Give it a rest there's a love.

Covid has disproportionately affected black and other BAME groups in the UK.

It also directly affects us. It's human nature to be first concerned for the people closest to you.

Finally, many people do care about malaria and other deaths elsewhere. People campaign, donate, and research treatments and vaccines and preventative measures. They won't be able to do any of that if they die or develop disabling Long Covid, or if our own economy is ravaged by unchecked Covid.

RepeatSwan · 26/09/2020 20:58

@Hmmph

I think a global pandemic with nearly a million dead officially and cases increasing daily is so mind blowingly terrifying people just cannot cope with it.

A conspiracy is easier to deal with.

This is my interpretation too.

A conspiracy is less scary than the utter randomness of the pandemic. At least with a conspiracy there is something to understand, and it feels like someone is in charge. A goody could win against a conspiracy but not against a random act of nature.

Rosehip10 · 26/09/2020 21:01

@Sarahpaula On the internet anyone can claim to be anything, a random on MN claiming it is in now way evidence that "doctors are saying that they are being told to record Non covid deats as covid deaths".

Or do you believe any random shit or person online...

Eng123 · 26/09/2020 21:02

It's a shame that we don't have a virus that kills the ignorant isn't it. I've often said that we should remove all the warning signs in society.. about six months should do it!
Have you heard about the two rockets? One filled with scientists, engineers and artists, the other with telephone hygienists and estate agents... Douglas Adams was a visionary!

ButteryPuffin · 26/09/2020 21:02

Always handy when a poster uses the term 'sheeple' as you know then they're a complete idiot.

SpecialWGM · 26/09/2020 21:04

@JKRowlingIsMyQueen Well if that was your unified message you have failed miserably as all I've seen is people with cardboard signs saying 'CoNVid' and 'Lies' on.....

Rosehip10 · 26/09/2020 21:04

@Mintychoc1 raised your concerns with the BMA, RCGPs and the GMC maybe? Don't tell me, you did, and there was no interest due to the "conspiracy", or you didn't as you are a MN fantasist claiming to be a GP?
