Would you go to Greece?

Currently on the exempt list.
We're looking at 4 nights this weekend

My main worries are:
Currently at 27 per 100,000
Changing rules in wales whilst we're away
Getting ill whilst there and not being able to get home to kids (who will be safe at their dads)

On the other hand I'm desperate for some sun.
Have worked throughout the pandemic (ITU and community nursing)

I guess you would be flying out and stay in some resort... Not worth the risk!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/09/2020 07:03

No way.

lunalulu · 22/09/2020 07:04

Where in Greece? Some places not exempt.

CountFosco · 22/09/2020 07:04

No, not worth it.

FredaFox · 22/09/2020 07:04

No I’m not bothering to go abroad until next year now
Can’t isolate at work, I’d have to use my annual leave or be unpaid. Not worth the risk, everything is changing so quickly

Colourmylife1 · 22/09/2020 07:05

I would wait until the further announcements have been made today. More restrictions could be brought in. You also need to do a risk analysis- what is the worst that can happen and how would you manage it. e.g what if Greece brings in further measures while you’re there (remember all those holiday makers stick in hotel rooms in March!). Can you quarantine when you’re back if the air corridor is stopped? What if flights stop suddenly?
If you do go have a wonderful holiday and enjoy the sun.

Colourmylife1 · 22/09/2020 07:06

*stuck

DamitJanet · 22/09/2020 07:06

I wouldn’t, but I wouldn’t travel anywhere abroad at the moment.

alialys · 22/09/2020 07:07

NHS? What is your employers stance if you have to self isolate because of going abroad? We were recently issued with new guidance

redlockscelt · 22/09/2020 07:10

I wouldn't fly anywhere right now.

waltzingparrot · 22/09/2020 07:17

Could you afford pricey flights to get yourself back at short notice, if necessary?

Worriedmum999 · 22/09/2020 07:22

HmmConfused

beela · 22/09/2020 07:25

Nope.

I wouldn't get on a plane right now.

KatherineJaneway · 22/09/2020 07:26

Can you afford to self isolate if rules change?

JKRowlingIsMyQueen · 22/09/2020 07:29

I went last week and it was great. Other than masks on public transport, it was the same as any normal holiday. Go.

PJsEveryday · 22/09/2020 07:39

You worked on ITU and are thinking of going abroad right now? I've followed the thread on here with NHS staff exhausted and in fear about what awaits them and it's a very bleak read. I completely understand your desire for a hwell deserved holiday but I dont understand the desire to go abroad right now.

Okbutnotgreat · 22/09/2020 07:43

I would but only a package deal where one company is responsible for everything. I just googled and Tui have a Covid Cover guarantee which looks pretty good and isn’t extra cost and Jet 2 have something similar though not sure if that’s a policy you have to take out.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 22/09/2020 07:44

No but wouldn’t travel anywhere at the moment. The virus doesn’t spread itself so we should be travelling for essential reasons only I feel.

BlackberrySky · 22/09/2020 07:49

The risk outweighs the reward at the moment. Don't go.

Nestme · 22/09/2020 07:51

Absolutely no chance at the moment. That ship has sailed now until next spring/summer imo.

Natalie654321 · 22/09/2020 07:54

I would!! As long as you can afford to self isolate after.

Palavah · 22/09/2020 07:57

Not a straight no.
Depends - package/protected? Who are the flights with? Could you afford to get back under your own steam
I understandyour desire to get away for sun and sea. Good for the soul and body.

IfIHadAHeart · 22/09/2020 07:59

I would go.

MyPersona · 22/09/2020 08:03

No. I don’t understand why anyone would consider flying anywhere during a global pandemic unless absolutely essential, the concept is utterly ridiculous.

frozendaisy · 22/09/2020 08:07

Cyprus looks a better bet than Greece
