To do list before second lockdown ?

Hi all,

Want to make sure I don’t miss out on anything so can you please share what are the things you need to do before lockdown (in the likely case it happens?)

My short list so far is:

  • teach grandad how to use video calling
  • return books to library and get new ones out
  • take stuff to charity shop before they close
  • maybe go to the hair salon and take the kids to barbers
  • go to primark and Poundland for bits and bobs
  • do all pending house maintenance
  • final trip to Ikea

Stock up on loo roll and wine 😀

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 19/09/2020 16:56

Haircut, vet, medical appointment, visit father and sort out some IT stuff for him.
I’d be surprised if non-essential shops shut this time around.

NewStart2020MyArse · 19/09/2020 16:57

No shops will close. Panic buyers make my blood boilAngry

JamMakingWannaBe · 19/09/2020 17:05
  • Dental checkup
  • DD's feet properly measured for winter shoes
  • Car service / buy windscreen washer liquid / fit all weather tyres
  • Flu vaccine
  • Fill the freezer with food
  • Stock up on craft stuff for DD
  • Buy stamps (for Xmas cards)
  • Buy sparklers for 5 Nov (not sure when these will be in the shops)

I'm tempted to buy non-perishable Christmas stuff (crackers, Bailey's etc) ASAP.

BestZebbie · 19/09/2020 17:11

There are sparklers on Amazon already.

weepingwillow22 · 19/09/2020 17:14

There is talk that is will just be pubs, restaurants and leisure facilities that will close for 2 weeks from tuesday.

You know this for definite? Non essential shops closed last time. It's not panic buying to get things in order before a lockdown
QueSera · 19/09/2020 17:31

Panic buyers make my blood boil

Preparing in advance is the opposite of panic buying.

MissPoldark · 19/09/2020 17:46

do all pending house maintenance

Christ, that’s a tall order!

take stuff to charity shop before they close

Our charity shops never seem to have opened, unless they’ve been on reduced hours & ive not noticed

OverTheRainbow88 · 19/09/2020 17:47

Due a dentist check?

OverTheRainbow88 · 19/09/2020 17:47

Boiler service?

WhiteChocTwix · 19/09/2020 17:50

Dentist and eyebrow wax for me this week. Might move my Oct hair appointment forward. Need to buy the paint for a garden related project I have planned. Wine rack fully stocked! 🍷

greengreengrass14 · 19/09/2020 17:52

No checks at dentist available here so that one goes by the board, only emergency care.

opticians (I am down to one pair of glasses and if those break, I'm stuffed)

printer cartridges for home schooling
up to date with recycling taken down (if Iim ill i will struggle carrying them down several flights of stairs)

Carryin on getting paperwork in order which I started doing last time to make sure that if I can't someone else can access it etc.

Up to date with post each day.

Try to stay on top of bills.

weekly food shop

Staying on top of cleaning and washign so it doesn't pile up.

Next stop folders for DD's GCSE's so she is organised for study at home.

Gas safety check done
Check smoke alarms weekly

Buy drop down ladder in case of fire to get out of win...(only half joking)...

postage stamps in case I need to post back covid test?

Get hold of replacement computer if this one goes I'm stuffed...

whirlwindwallaby · 19/09/2020 17:53

Didn't Poundland, Wilko etc stay open as they sell essentials?

Twickerhun · 19/09/2020 17:55

I need to take the kids to get their feet measured.

Beebityboo · 19/09/2020 17:58

Are you anticipating the lockdown to be as severe as March? Nothing I've read makes that seem very likely, think they will close pubs etc first.

Dillo10 · 19/09/2020 18:00

Eyebrow wax
Cheeky Nandos
That's about it

LowLou · 19/09/2020 18:00

I'm going to buy some.four so I can bake. I missed out last time.
Im purposely putting off mundane shitty jobs at home so I can do them when stuck at home.
Making the most of going out and about. I don't go to shops etc anymore as I seem.to attract the face lickers and the cough in your facers and 2metres is the same as 2mm so let me breathe down your neck and rub my bags against your ass brigade but I'm rarely at home.
Mornings are job hunting and applications then every afternoon I go for a walk the difference is that I'm now going further afield for my walls so I won't have exhausted what's on my doorstep when we get locked up.
I'm holding back on a few box sets.
I've bought an exercise bike.

Brown76 · 19/09/2020 18:05

Check if we can get dental checks
Flu jabs
Trip to the dump
Order Christmas presents
Check brexit/lockdown/zombie apocalypse supplies
Distanced visit to parents while I can

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 19/09/2020 18:05

I dont think it's going to be as bad as March. After the Cummings nonsense, they cant really expect anyone to stick to it.

But, im going to get dc1 a dentist appointment if I can (me and dc2 have had them since lockdown).

I want to book eye tests. Stock up on more things, but that was on my hard brexit list anyway. Might just bring that forward a tad.

I think weekends will be hard even if schools are open, so might stock up on craft things.

Might try to fit in a coffee/lunch with friends this week/next weekend.

FippertyGibbett · 19/09/2020 18:13

Stock up on wine and chocolate 🍫 🍷

Georgyporky · 19/09/2020 18:14

Eyes, ears & fanny already had the MOT - thanks for the reminder about the dentist.

OverTheRainbow88 · 19/09/2020 18:21
