Shocked at people blatantly ignoring rule of 6!

I knew it would happen, but it has still shocked me, especially the types of people who are doing it! (Eg not always younger ones). Someone at work, who has only just returned from shielding has flouted it 3 times already. She has bad chest and heart problems, so I’d have thought she’d be more careful. It’s hard not to feel cross about it, especially when you’re keeping to the rules yourself, mainly to protect people like them!

Gilead · 17/09/2020 17:42

I’m still shielding as best I can.
My neighbours probably won’t stick to the rules. I won’t report them. I understand why they do it. They help me out. I don’t want to report them and feel that employing bouncers to ‘ police’ this is abominable.

LowLou · 17/09/2020 17:49

Not shocking. Mostbpwople have very special.and exclusive reasons as simple as not agreeing with the mad rules and have been whatvrhe fuck they.like since March 12th. All of them believe they are ok to do this and can probably reel off a whole listbof reasons as to why they or their circumstances are too special to follow the guidelines issued.

Every rulwmor guideline that will ever be issued with Covid in mind will be disregarded by a majority because our government fucked up in so many ways and so now no one seems to be able take personal responsibility for thier chooces or actions and instead chooses to do whatvthey please and if pulled up on it will will give all the special reasons why they canr or wont follow whats been asked.

@annabel85

It’s working in Belgium but we won’t know here be until many won’t comply with the law

There's too many in this country who feel an innate need to be rebellious. Civilised people grow out of that phase at some point in their teens.

I’ve just seen a video of an Australian woman being strangled by a police officer for not wearing a mask. It later emerged she had an exemption to not wear one.

Is this the civilised society you want? Your calling people criminals for breaking the rules. Is this kind of behaviour you advocate ‘criminals’ to have? Your being brain washed by the government to see your neighbours as criminals and snitch on them to the police so when this type of behaviour happens to them - it’s easy to swallow because of course if they followed the ‘rules’ they would t get strangled ...

RaininSummer · 17/09/2020 17:58

I haven't broken any rules up to now and haven't been in pubs or restaurants or on holiday but I will at some point in the next few months see my 2 daughters and their ohs together for the first time in 9 months so may reach 7 in total and then back to no rule breaking at all.

Fosler · 17/09/2020 18:05

The trouble is that there's no logic whatsoever. Sweden didn't go into lockdown and force the wearing of masks and yet are coming out of this ahead of us.

It's ridiculous. It's not about health, it's about control.

The damage to people's health will be devastating as well as jobs and mental health.

This x 1000. I have seen that video - disturbing doesn't even come close. The woman standing there, being held still, while two police offices cover her face. There - compliance!

This is not the sort of civilisation I want to belong to, thank you.

IloveJKRowling · 17/09/2020 18:12

The government are doing what they can to keep schools, workplaces, pubs, shops open to keep the economy going, without cases getting out of hand again.

Bollocks. They were told they needed to give schools money for SD, smaller class sizes over and over again. They were told sending schools back like this was a huge gamble.

They were told they needed functioning test and trace.

I've just spent 4 days constantly refreshing the computer screen to get a test. How many have given up? DD no longer symptomatic and false negatives go up when not symptomatic so the chance it's a false negative will be much higher.

Meantime, if it WAS coronavirus her teacher, and kids she's sitting shoulder to shoulder next to and breathing all over in school are continuing to mingle in school, spreading it further.

Bollocks they're doing all they can. They've given zero money to schools to help them, zero.

While Dido Harding, incompetent to the point of farce, gets how much? How much is being made in profit from failed PPE contracts?

If I'm following your post correctly - genuinely hard to tell with the typos - you're conceding that government rules are stupid and senseless and arbitrary and fucked up, yet you're berating people for thinking for themselves and taking responsibility for themselves rather than blindly doing as they are told? Confused

Personally, it's not a question of me thinking I am too special to follow some of these rules. It's that I know many of them are bullshit.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing though.

Boris was absolutely vilified for going down the her immunity route initially, and most people thought we should have started lockdown earlier at the time.

I am more shocked that people think it is acceptable that the rules are different in England given their significant impact on family life. It’s outrageous, particularly when many parts of England have very low infection rates.

The most disturbing thing out of all this for me was how quick the government were able to get people to turn on their friends and neighbours. They have turned ordinary nice people that have never been in trouble with the law in to hated criminals and rather a lot of the public eagerly applauding it.

Scary

dworky · 17/09/2020 18:29

It's very shocking that selfish people will not show any consideration for others

mummabear1967 · 17/09/2020 18:31

Unless they’re having an extremely large gathering I’d just mind my own business.

I definitely won’t feel bad having 7 people in my house. It’s my choice.

wildcherries · 17/09/2020 18:33

@Funkypolar

Yet it’s okay to sit in a class of 30 or go to work in an office with a hundred people.
This is why people are fed up. It is not shocking in the least.

It’s shocking that 22 men can have a game of football on a field yet 22 women can’t have a SD picnic on said field ...
DipSwimSwoosh · 17/09/2020 18:38

This week I have taught about 200 different children in classes of up to 32. My own children have gone to school and nursery. But we can't meet one friend and her child at the park as we equal 7 people.

Kidneybingo · 17/09/2020 18:44

I will be following the rules, definitely. However since I have been teaching full classes again, I've noticed I keep forgetting my mask to go to shops, and have to go back for it, or keep getting too close to people if I meet them. It's making me forget to be honest because I'm so uses to seeing hundreds of people mingling freely every day.

ASchuylerSister · 17/09/2020 18:48

It’s because they don’t make sense. I can go to work and mix with god knows how many adults/kids but then can’t meet my parents in their garden because there’s 7 of us...

My kids can spend all day in a stuffy classroom with 30+ other kids but can’t go to the park with them out of school...

I’m allowed to the pub with a bunch of strangers because that sort of socialising makes the government money...

No thanks. I’m going to continue to meet my family, outside, even though we’re 6+.

chestergirl39 · 17/09/2020 18:49

When you put it like that it is ridiculous isn’t it, but where do you draw the line? Who’d want to be Boris now? I worked in a hospital all through lockdown and that felt weird as outside work everyone was keeping a big distance but inside was a different story. I completely supported distancing though as it was needed to take the pressure of the wards. It’s starting to creep up again now, so we do need some control measures.

I do think they've lost people by hammering home the 'get back to the office' message to people wfh, yet simultaneously bringing in these restrictions.

If it's that serious then they should be encouraging home working (as the Scots and Welsh are).

secretllama · 17/09/2020 19:20

I keep reading "selfish people who break the rules..." "if only people weren't so selfish..." etc etc.

I cant believe people have turned on each other so bad that people visiting their families are now "selfish". People aren't doing it to be smug, or to be purposefully rebellious. Its seeing their family (or friends) for christs sake. Mental health is important and right now , for many its at rock bottom.

The people who refuse to follow the rules are the people who'll help lead us into another lockdown which will be worse for everyone's health.

But if people generally acted more sensibly, avoided really close contact outside their household or really large gatherings, kept more distance etc etc then we get to do more of what we want, which will improve mental health. It’s not rocket science is it?

When we are finally "allowed" to hug our families and gather in groups , the virus will spread again. Then another lockdown. Infections are lower so restrictions are eased...virus spreads again. Repeat and repeat ....

I'm not waiting till the virus is gone to be "allowed" to hug my family. I'm selfish, sorry about that! 🤷‍♀️

jasjas1973 · 17/09/2020 20:33

@chestergirl39 So our fault for not obeying contrary rules but the very thing we need to control CV - testing and tracing etc is a (totally avoidable) fucking mess but this twat Johnson gets a free pass???
