How many cases in your child’s school so far?

Magnavixen · 11/09/2020 15:04

Our children back have been back to school since last Thursday.

So far 3 positive cases in 3 different year groups.

They are in bubbles of approximately 180 students each.
2 of the positive cases have been in their year groups.
Only close contacts required to isolate.

I’m surprised at how quickly the cases are appearing. Is anyone else experiencing the same?

Three entire year groups off here - secondary due to seven positive cases.

Family of four, work/ attend 4 dif schools

School 1: 1000 age 3 - 18 0 》cases
School 2: 500 chn aged 11 - 14 》 0 cases
School 3 : 1100 chn aged 11- 18 》 0 cases
School 4: 450 chn age 3 - 11 》 0 cases

Greater london, low incidence rate at moment anyway. There were confirmed cases at 2 of the schools before lockdown.

chestergirl39 · 17/09/2020 18:12

“how is it the school’s fault? No mention the school knew the kids had been tested. Secondly, the guidance is clear if you have symptoms (so you need a test) you self-isolate till you get those test results.”

You’re right, school didn’t know they were waiting for tests, they had all been in contact socially, not in school. Should have been isolating after first positive test. Parents fault.

Secondary all in but no official news on any cases

Londonmummy66 · 17/09/2020 18:16

Zero - boarding school just shy of 1000 pupils
one - non student facing member of support staff also boarding about 1300 pupils and staff

BelleSausage · 17/09/2020 18:43

One (so far) at the school I teach in. Loads more seating results.

DD is in a tiny rural primary (fewer than 60kids in the whole school) so non yet

jb2941 · 17/09/2020 18:51

No confirmed cases at my DC's primary school. But there has been potential cases.. which tbh I think is just a cold type thing. We live in an area with virtually no cases. I know that's not fool proof. But half of my sons class are odd with a cold type virus. For my son it's just been cold symptoms but for others it's been a slight temperature and coughing (probably due to colds!). They are all presenting differently.

RaggieDolls · 17/09/2020 19:43

We've been back since 1st September in a 30 intake primary. So far, there are no cases.

oomymoomy · 17/09/2020 19:46

First one today (North Yorkshire).

shortsaint · 17/09/2020 19:47

All 80 in Year 13.

Great.

JustSaying101 · 17/09/2020 20:09

Butterbeeeen · 17/09/2020 20:12

MarshaBradyo · 17/09/2020 20:13

@shortsaint

All 80 in Year 13.

Great.

Do you mean all home or all tested positive?
CrumbsThatsQuick · 18/09/2020 00:36

2 senior, 1000 pupils, 1 case
3 junior, 300 pupils, 0 cases

Sctree · 18/09/2020 00:45

1 case in secondary. Tons of kids sick in primary and unable to get a test. Several schools with confirmed cases in the borough.

Potterpotterpotter · 18/09/2020 09:08

We had an email yesterday with an update to say there have been 0 confirmed cases in all of the schools trusts which has approx 10,000 students. So 0 still.

Kisforkaylied · 18/09/2020 09:33

Small semi rural primary - 1 case last week. Support staff who comes from nearby city. Only a few "close contacts" sent home to self isolate.

AriettyHomily · 18/09/2020 09:34

None but no one has been able to get a test for a good two weeks. There are quite a few off sick in each class. Small, single form entry school.

DH is a teacher - large secondary. Also none but ditto the testing situation.

MagpieSong · 18/09/2020 10:35

No cases for us, but primary school in the next village along is already closed. Our cases are still low (mainly due to rural area), but now schools are reopening there are more cases and several schools in the county are shut or have sent bubbles home. I think there are lots of people (that I know of, not talking about mumsnet users) assuming no ‘positive tests’ means no Covid-19, but there are lots of people who just can’t get a test, so it’s not strictly the case. A number of children in the area are off due to coughs/fever, however there’s also a cough/cold virus going round. I’m a bit anxious as the next village along is pretty close and that’s where our doctors is (our villages shut temporarily due to Covid-19). I’m hoping the school issues are relooked at as the children at home isolating aren’t being taught (even when symptomless) and it’s obvious that children do spread it. I don’t understand why pubs are still open, it seems bonkers. Obviously we don’t go, but some parents of children in DCs class are likely to be, which affects the whole classes’ children. For younger children, bubble size is huge (class size), so exposure isn’t really low. It’s acknowledged they can’t social distance, but nothing is really in place to protect them, which is rubbish. There was more in place before the summer than now.

itwilldropoff · 18/09/2020 11:19

East lancs here and three year groups are having to isolate, this is from a small village primary of about 200 pupils so nearly half the school population are at home. Not sure how many actual cases but each year group bubble is being told to isolate as they’ve been in close contact with a confirmed case.

ClinkyMonkey · 18/09/2020 13:41

There has been one case in the Upper Sixth at DS1's school of 1400. But it was during induction week at the end of August. when only one or two year groups at a time were in school on any day.
None at DS2's small primary school.
We're in NI.

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 18/09/2020 13:50

Secondary approx 1300 pupils? 0 cases that I’m aware of.

toolatetooearly · 18/09/2020 14:01

ShivD · 18/09/2020 14:01

2 cases in my eldests school, not thought to be linked. They’ve been advised it’s ok for them but o stay open currently.

LindainLockdown · 18/09/2020 14:26

O in my DC's school, know of 2 in another local high school, but they have only sent a limited number of close contacts home.
