How many cases in your child’s school so far?

Magnavixen · 11/09/2020 15:04

Our children back have been back to school since last Thursday.

So far 3 positive cases in 3 different year groups.

They are in bubbles of approximately 180 students each.
2 of the positive cases have been in their year groups.
Only close contacts required to isolate.

I’m surprised at how quickly the cases are appearing. Is anyone else experiencing the same?

Zero but lots of kids had a bad cold this week and developed a cough so we're told to get tested. All came back negative

None, according to the website that's tracking the cases that I saw on another thread there's only one confirmed case in a school within about 10 miles and one other school where one some pupils are isolating but it doesn't say if there's actually any positive cases

1 in primary.
None (yet) in secondary.
We are at one week isolation, awaiting a covid result.
Primary school down the road shut due to 5 cases.
About a dozen school locally have at least one bubble shut.
We are in a watch area.

None in primary or secondary, we're in an area where cases are rising though so its probably only a matter of time

None yet, 4 form entry London primary. Quite a lot of kids off with coughs but all tested negative.

@WearyandBleary

How would we know? Surely schools can’t say Except to close contacts? What are the rules around that

I think I posted this on another thread, my facebook feed is full of copies of letters local schools are sending out, only 1 confirmed case so far, I'd be really surprised not to know what's going on at all the local schools.

Why would schools not be allowed to let the local community know that they have confirmed cases? I saw a national news story about a case at a school that Boris Johnson had visited, it's not a secret

London, large primary of 540 children. My children are in 3 different years. We have been back since Monday and not heard of any so far. I think the school are doing a good job in very difficult circumstances.

DS Secondary - he went back last Thursday but whole school only in this week and I don’t know if any cases.

DD Primary - went back this week and again I don’t know if any cases.

We are in a low infection area 7/100000

No idea about DC's schools, but the secondary I work in has 38 waiting for test results and 1 positive case (so far) but bubble has not been closed. (900 students in school, and 165 in bubble)

4 sent home for testing today from 6th form (300 students)

Neighbouring secondary - 1 positive case that was obviously brought in last week, close contacts isolating and year group on extended distancing. (840 students)

One feeder primary school 1 positive case today, so bubble (year group) now isolating - 60 kids in year group and 400 in the school.

My school - 10 staff waiting test results but none yet confirmed

This is is an area with NO cases the previous three weeks.

None but only secondary school in the area that doesn’t 🤞

I have friends with kids in other schools and she said parents are already frustrated that they talking about keeping sick kids off but not going to test them anymore to prevent year groups having to isolate

Many kids who have been tested aren’t il and most of the year groups affected are year 11 so parents worried

Literally it’s being advertised in Facebook as a way to keep kids in and seems many parents onboard

None. And they had all the primary and years 7 and 8 back full time before summer.

None that we know of though our borough has had very low infection rates all the way through. Total student body of 3200 across one high school and one 6th form college.

So far 1 and just so happened to be a member of staff in DDs class. She was in for 4 days and is now having to self isolate for 14 days.

We're in a very high risk area, expecting local lockdown any time now. None in my child's school, 2 in my friends sons school (one child in year 1 and 5 days later a teacher in year 1 - make your own assumptions...)

PablosHoney · 11/09/2020 17:40

None in primary or secondary, you’d know because the school is supposed to collapse the bubble the affected child was in for two weeks

You won't be notified unless you need to know.

None that I know of yet but one confirmed in the school nearest to ours. Just a matter of time really! Feel really defeated by it after being told how safe it was etc. DD already off with a cold after being back less than a week. Not sure how it can carry on like this.

I haven't heard about any but I would be affronted if we were routinely told. It's the school's business, not mine.

Report

None in the primary in which I work and none in the secondary school my kids attend. Loads are being sent home or aren't being sent in due to various symptoms though.

None that we've been told about.
