Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

Wow to the Doncaster races.

Othering · 08/09/2020 22:37

@TheSeedsOfADream

Here is a blow dried mango stone that looks like Boris. I'm sending it to London to run the country. Is that OK with everyone?
I doubt anyone would even notice the difference.
RandomNameForRandomThreads · 08/09/2020 22:37

Why on earth is racing always the one that's allowed?

Doje · 08/09/2020 22:37

So guidance has now become law? That's the big announcement. I think they're trying to distract us. What will this keep off the front page tomorrow......?

Reddog1 · 08/09/2020 22:37

And yet ..... forcing people to go to work because of pressure from city centre property owners (it’s not to save Pret, it’s to mollify the real estate crew). Thankfully, sensible employers are resisting.

NotAtMyBest · 08/09/2020 22:37

How on earth will this work with restaurants etc then? Will they have to close?

Crystal1975 · 08/09/2020 22:37

Does that mean only 6 people in a restaurant or a pub?
Or 6 people in each group in the pub etc?
None of these rules make any sense at all
Masks in shops but go and get pissed up without one, 100’s of kids in school, loads of people back to work and on public transport etc , but u can’t meet more than 6 members of your family at the same time
Bonkers

greengreengrass14 · 08/09/2020 22:37

heard it.
What the Boris boys are doing is what they always do.

Announce a 'law' that will be coming to pass.

In this case no more than six people to be allowed to gather INDOORS or OUTDOORS

if people do this, punishable (so the boris boys say) with a 100 pound fine.

Regardless of differing views on here, my feelings and insight are:

Boris boys are doing what they usually do, and have done throughout the covid crisis.

i.e announcing a proposed thing in the press and then waitng for the 'flack' of public opinion so that they can wind it back accordingly.

I feel this is a crap and crappiest way of leading and leadership.

Mums, working mums, unpaid or unpaid don't have the time to deal with this rubbish.

There is such a thing as a legal procedure.

We are NOT yet living in a fascist dictatorship where boris and co thing they can wing it, make it up and ignore democratic procedures in this country.

Don't slag me off mums I haven't go the energy to respond. My opinion which I am entitled to. Need to get to bed. Thanks.

PurpleDaisies · 08/09/2020 22:37

They’ve just said on bbc news a household of five would have to meet households separately.

windyautumn · 08/09/2020 22:38

Is this guidance or law?? I know there are fines starting...does that mean it's illegal to be in a group greater than 6 anywhere?

PurpleDaisies · 08/09/2020 22:38

They’ve just said on bbc news a household of five would have to meet grandparents separately.

LoveNote · 08/09/2020 22:38

what about large stores?

EdithWeston · 08/09/2020 22:38

BBC has just said the announcement will be tomorrow

The website version gives a fairly basic version of the announcemt and says more will follow tomorrow: "Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to deliver further details at a Downing Street news conference on Wednesday"

(Ditto the full list of exemptions will be annoying need soon)

AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/09/2020 22:38

@SallySeven

Monkeytoes: I can't watch Johnson speak. I get uncomfortable!
www.gov.uk/government/publications/sars-cov-2-rna-testing-assurance-of-positive-results-during-periods-of-low-prevalence

there is no spike, there are 99% false positives.
Dot Gov last night issued an edict to radically change PCR, “because of excessive false positives”.

PurpleDaisies · 08/09/2020 22:38

It’s law now windy.

OhMyDarling · 08/09/2020 22:39

In our classroom there’s 33 households mixing
We mix with 66 more at lunchtime and play

Daughter mixes with 250 households daily at school and that’s just the kids- doesn’t include teachers and other school staff

RIDICULOUS

WearyandBleary · 08/09/2020 22:39

Will church services have to stop again?

Morfin · 08/09/2020 22:39

This is to stop uni students having house parties, not a family of five meeting with their parents.

felineflutter · 08/09/2020 22:39

@TheSeedsOfADream. You are the winner! Flippin' brilliant.Grin

EdithWeston · 08/09/2020 22:39

DYAC - the 'annoying need, was meant to be 'announced'

woodlands01 · 08/09/2020 22:40

It can only get worse. I attended an assembly of 250 17-18 year olds on Monday. No social distancing or masks required as they are a year group bubble. 4 members of staff including a school leader sat in amongst them, no masks, chatting at various points. It is not just young people who are acting irresponsibly and not following rules. Many teaching staff acting like it's all over. The affect of this has still yet to filter through - in a couple of weeks I fear statistics will be much worse.

Viviennemary · 08/09/2020 22:40

Fingers in ears. I might have my eyes tested tomorrow. Who can take this lot seriously.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 08/09/2020 22:40

@StealthPolarBear

I thought you weren't allowed more than six indoors anyway. I get that outdoors has changed but how has this affected indoors?
Indoors two households can currently meet and can be more than 6 people. This also applies to outdoors. More than 2 households can't currently meet indoors. If more than 2 households meet outdoors there is a limit of 6 people.
monsterad · 08/09/2020 22:40

@ginsparkles

The guidance was no more than 6, the law was no more than 30. They have now changed the law to match the guidelines to make it simpler and easier for the police to enforce.
Yes this is what I understood the announcement to be
PineappleUpsideDownCake · 08/09/2020 22:40

So do we think this is just something "shiny" to get us talking about instead of the shithshow on brexit?
