Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

Is this going to mean hotels etc have to close again? And restaurants...as surely you can't only have 6 people at a time?

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2020 22:33

GINSPARKLES THANK YOU
no idea why my phone felt the need to shout, sorry

Ellsbells12 · 08/09/2020 22:33

@Lougle

I'm gutted, tbh. My family is 5 and my parents make 7. They are both in need of support. We're going to have to choose who stays behind when we visit.
Just ignore it the virus is not going anywhere I am seeing my family .... screw this
froggygoneacourting · 08/09/2020 22:33

Does this cover theatres and other venues where larger groups are inside the same building, but not together in one group? Or only situations where a group of people are together as a group?

Ugzbugz · 08/09/2020 22:33

I thought it was only 6 people anyway?

PurpleDaisies · 08/09/2020 22:33

@Lougle the bbc says this...

Several exemptions apply to the new rules - which come into force on 14 September - with households and support bubbles bigger than six people are unaffected.

ineedaholidaynow · 08/09/2020 22:33

Guidance supposedly is going to be published before Monday

SheepandCow · 08/09/2020 22:34

Will they include protests in the ban? Can't get much more of a mass gathering than a protest.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2020 22:34

You can surely only form a bubble if you're a single person or single parent household

Lougle · 08/09/2020 22:34
@lougle can’t you form a bubble with your parents then it doesn’t matter how many people??
No, a bubble is only allowed if one of the households has a single adult. Because they are married, even though Mum is disabled and Dad is her full-time carer, they don't qualify as needing 'support'.

Shizzlestix · 08/09/2020 22:34

So, go back to the office where you will be with more than 6 people (SD of course), but more than 6 people are now banned. FFS

Tricky for staff training, there was a fair few new staff in one room last week for induction.

Othering · 08/09/2020 22:34

Does anyone actually take heed of any of this nonsense. If you were meeting up with 7 people at a book club for instance next week, would you honestly now just cut it down to 6. It's bloody madness. I can't believe BJ has the brass neck to even spout this utter bollocks any more.

Floralbean · 08/09/2020 22:34

@TheSeedsOfADream haha, that made me actually LOL

Polkadotties · 08/09/2020 22:34

@Ellsbells12 likewise!

itsgettingweird · 08/09/2020 22:34

@PinkMacaron

This is a bit too slick for the government. Surely they should be announcing it at 2am by carrier pigeon.

Yes, so they are exempting single households of 6 or more, or support bubbles.

Groundhogdayzz · 08/09/2020 22:35

They had to do something though. Work/school is essential but social distancing seems to have totally gone out the window. It might be enough just to kerb things a bit.

ineedaholidaynow · 08/09/2020 22:35

@Ellsbells12 do you have school aged children, this is probably to help schools stay open

OnlyBejoking · 08/09/2020 22:35

Would organised team sports include dance classes and martial arts clubs? My kids will be beyond gutted if these get cancelled 1 week after they get up and running again.

So bloody annoying. We don't go social shopping or to the pub or anything.

YummyJamDoughnut · 08/09/2020 22:35

@Blue1316

The government are concerned about the rise in cases yet the Doncaster races are going ahead this week with approx 20,000 in attendance over the 4 days. Hmm
Ooh it's like they learnt nothing from the last time, isn't it?
Lougle · 08/09/2020 22:35

BBC has just said the announcement will be tomorrow.

MJMG2015 · 08/09/2020 22:35

from NEXT MONDAY

Did they not learn anything previously???

"I'm gutted, tbh. My family is 5 and my parents make 7. They are both in need of support. We're going to have to choose who stays behind when we visit"

If you and they are in a support bubble (whatever the rules for those are these days!) then you can exceed 6. Just as you can if your household alone exceeds 6.

It's gatherings, not households and support bubbles that are covered by this.

Though I suppose wider family with whom you have not bubbled would count under this new reg.

Redcherries · 08/09/2020 22:36

@Lougle I think they may have made an allowance for this if bubbled families are larger than six. I hope so for you. (Read it on dm, could be pie in the sky, sorry)

Jenasaurus · 08/09/2020 22:36

How will this impact sports like football etc is that something that is likely to be excempt
