Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

@Akire

But that is what they have done to family over 6 isn’t it? The only person you can met is a single adult living alone who promises not to be part of anyone else’s bubble?

If you only know couples of families you can’t see anyone

Tbf there are very few families over 6, and if they are all in different year groups that family will be an infection hub all of its own anyway, so probably best to avoid to much more mixing I would have thought.

It’s a dead cat to stop people talking about the Govt putting forward the Bill which will break International Law.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 09/09/2020 10:02

Correct. And it's worked an absolute treat. Look at the narrative now from Hancock, its not "we" (government) it's now "some people" and "not obeying rules" as if the general public are actively creating the virus.

It's all our fault for not getting back to the office too

And not for going out.

And then for not staying in.

lyralalala · 09/09/2020 10:13

@PurpleDaisies

Why don’t they just ban home visits?

Because that’s quite an imposition with winter coming and meeting in the park not really going to be an option?

They’ve done it in the parts of Scotland
PurpleDaisies · 09/09/2020 10:16

They’ve done it in the parts of Scotland

Yes, and Caerphilly, and other lockdown areas. It’s a nuclear option for the whole country though.

And don’t forget, getting too many tests.

Well the increase in cases must be because some people aren't obeying rules. Confused Unless the virus has found a new route of transmission.

Personally it's always really annoyed me when BJ has said how magnificent the British public have been in complying with the rules. He obviously lives on a different planet to me.

@doadeer

Does this mean exercises classes will be limited to 6? (Im asking as have a yoga business)
No, it’s fine to run classes - because it’s work. In the same way, dance classes and studios can be open.
halcyondays · 09/09/2020 10:24

Boris is doing a press conference at 4.00 with Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance.

champagneplanet · 09/09/2020 10:24

As usual barely any clarification, resulting in so many questions.

What do we think will be the effect on after school activities (ie: youth clubs) and dance classes, etc. Are they education? It's extra curricular so I assume not, DD was due to start back this week.

The old days. Ok let’s see what they say

Dance classes and studios are exempt- they are workplaces.

Yes, and Caerphilly, and other lockdown areas. It’s a nuclear option for the whole country though.

I truly wonder if the government did go for the nuclear option if there would be some kind of uprising or civil unrest.

I get the feeling that mainly in England tolerance for the restrictions and lockdowns being whack-a-moled all over the NW counties that patience is wearing thin.

In Scotland there appears to be a marginally more begrudging acceptance but examine the different approach that NS took to Aberdeen vs Glasgow I think that patience is wearing thin here too.

I almost want there to be civil unrest, and I’m not speaking about a few angry twats in Edinburgh waving cardboard placards.

Proper anger and outcry may make both governments re-evaluate a few things and stop putting “the spread” ahead of absolutely everything else it seems. Yes Covid is real but the governments honestly need to wise up and stop fucking about trying to eradicate or eliminate something that can’t do either.

Waspnest · 09/09/2020 10:27

Thank God, I thought it was going to be Boris on his own doing his usual clear as mud waffling.

donnadenise · 09/09/2020 10:30

@HasaDigaEebowai

It said exemptions. Those with 6 in a household? at weekends we're 6 as dsd is here.. So in laws could still pop in? Bearing in mind they do the collect and drop offs for dsd school and bring her here..

No the exemption is only if they're a single person household forming a bubble with yours.

They haven't published the full list of exemptions yet
PurpleDaisies · 09/09/2020 10:34

No but Matt Hancock was pretty clear on breakfast this morning.

Yep, he wanted two eggy solidiers and a babyccino

(Sorry, couldn’t resist)

doadeer · 09/09/2020 11:01

We have 300 yoga bookings for the month... This is very stressful waiting to see what will be included.

Keepdistance · 09/09/2020 11:19

Brownies/scouts etc??

CormoranStrike · 09/09/2020 11:19

@Keepdistance

Brownies/scouts etc??
I believe they will be back on hold.
Keepdistance · 09/09/2020 11:29

Tbh i think thats sensible.
Though the issue will be schools and this 6person isnt going to be enough to stop school issues.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 09/09/2020 11:37

Trampolining an gym?

I think mine have had 10 in a room, but often say 4 to a trampoline!

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 09/09/2020 11:47

For the families of 5 who are wondering about how they invite 2 friends round in an evening when their 3 kids are asleep in bed upstairs - the thing that is banned is gatherings of 6+, not having 6+ In a property, isn’t it? Because otherwise pubs could only have one table of 6 in. But they’re allowed many separate gatherings of 6.

So a gathering of 4 people in your living room while 3 people are in other rooms is ok. Because otherwise pubs can’t operate, and we can’t have that, can we?

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 09/09/2020 11:49

I’m fairly confident their will be an exception for “covid-safe organised out-of-school settings” - Scouts, after-school childcare clubs etc.

BanditoShipman · 09/09/2020 12:28

Probably a stupid question, I understand the ‘bank’ and that schools etc are a deficit, but how does seeing the same children outside school add to the deficit? If any have covid they would catch it when at school with same people surely?

We follow up the rules anyway but wanted to understand this further. Is it just a blanket ban so that people don’t mix with different people outside school?
