Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

Students!!!

PyongyangKipperbang · 08/09/2020 23:42

@Carycy

So under the new rules we basically can’t meet anyone as we are a family of 5. So can only meet one other person. Is that right??!?
No. Its about households.

I have this issue. A single household family of 7 (as we are) can meet another single household family of 7 as long as they were already in each others bubble and do not extend their bubble any further.

SallySeven · 08/09/2020 23:42

Unusual for me but I would be willing to break this law by sitting in a family garden (not that that's viable for much longer in this climate) as our numbers would take us 1 over the limit and it's a 3 hour drive so, no we won't be doing it in shifts.

That's the first time I've thought that but unless they stop the Doncaster meeting I deem the government itself to not be taking adequate steps.

Carycy · 08/09/2020 23:44

Well that’s not going to happen. I don’t see why i can’t meet another household with my kids. As usual the rule are discriminatory of people with children. We can’t do anything while everyone else goes out and enjoys themselves.

@Strawberrypancakes

So, after losing Easter, missing out on everything from school and having the most abnormal summer and 100% not being able to have a Halloween ... my DD is about to have a birthday and has invited 8 friends to have a gathering in the garden for her birthday. Is this off??
Yes.

Sorry, I really am.

Vinoonasunnyday · 08/09/2020 23:46

Only if you choose strawberry

It’s dds at the end of the month

I will not be stopping it as I know all her friends will attend as they’ve spent all summer together, been to sleepovers and are in school all day

primabloodydonna · 08/09/2020 23:46

And I havent seen my parents closer than about 5 metres since March, not even on my mothers 70th

That was up to you. I haven't seen my grandfather since March either, because he is vulnerable and has chosen to shield. The rest of us are not.

PyongyangKipperbang · 08/09/2020 23:46

REally?

Are you THAT thick?!

primabloodydonna · 08/09/2020 23:47

Yes definitely, the two additional people will mean covid.

Vinoonasunnyday · 08/09/2020 23:47

Prima 🤣

All it takes is one of you to pop round.

Up to you.

Carycy · 08/09/2020 23:49

Pyongyang has a different interpretation to others already so the rules clearly haven’t been simplified at all and I will stick to her interpretation!

primabloodydonna · 08/09/2020 23:49

I daresay, but we haven't Hmm

@MiddlesexGirl

Who regularly has 30 people in their house?

Exactly. I don't really have to try too hard to not have mass parties every bloody pissing night.

Young people.

Hhhmmmm, true. I forgot all about those bastards.
Vinoonasunnyday · 08/09/2020 23:51

Strawberry

Law wise it’ll make no difference

But in reality this law means nothing as kids will still meet

None of the other parents will object I can guarantee tho it may limit location if it’s a play centre or something

May have to do it in your house for example

30under · 08/09/2020 23:51

Thank you for this thread OP, I wouldn't have known anything about it if not for you!

@lyralalala

I wonder how long it will be before the one local busybody who just doesn't get it reports me for having too many people in my house again.

No visitors at all for us now as we are a household of more than 6.

Shock You got reported for being a large household?!?! Grin Sorry that is actually quite funny though I expect infuriating for you at the time!
Vinoonasunnyday · 08/09/2020 23:54

Strawberry

I’d do it

In fact I am as dd is turning 13 and I have party organised and will carry on

Like minded parents/neighbours so won’t be an issue

queenjaneappro · 08/09/2020 23:56

Breaking news - all house parties and large family gatherings to be held in schools from Monday.

AlwaysLatte · 08/09/2020 23:58

Arghh, we said our boys could have a sleepover next weekend. But there are four of us and they wanted 2 friends each. Guess it will have to be one each then.
And no more than 6 in bars either! Wonder how they will manage it - book slots throughout the eve maybe, otherwise 6 could take root for hours and not buy many drinks.

kittensarecute · 08/09/2020 23:59

I'm done. Over it. I can't live with these restrictions anymore.

cantkeepawayforever · 08/09/2020 23:59

The point is that schools are using up a huge amount of 'risk budget' - meaning all other risks have to be reduced as far as possible.

it's not a hard concept to understand.
