Im listening to LBC radio and they have just said there will be a live government announcement on LBC at 10.30 tonight that will affect households. I am confused why would this be on LBC at that time, if they know the announcement they are going to make, why not make it earlier?

@lyralalala

I wonder how long it will be before the one local busybody who just doesn't get it reports me for having too many people in my house again.

No visitors at all for us now as we are a household of more than 6.

It doesn't count when your household is 6+, they are exempt from this rule.
YummyJamDoughnut · 08/09/2020 22:53

@CostaCosta

If my family (4) meets with my parents (2) can we then still, separately meet with my in-laws another time?
I think so. As long as the total meeting is no more than 6, I suppose you can meet multiple people at different times. (caveat to wait for the official rules tomorrow!) Who would know, anyway, that you met persons A and B yesterday, and C and D today?
greengreengrass14 · 08/09/2020 22:53

Oh god I'm going to bed. Bloody electricity works just outside our block
Actually in contrast to the government the manager was really nice, really respectful and not at all a problem. Said it was a safety thing and would be finished tonight.

There is hope for humanity. Oh god the banging continues. Don't want to deal with this this evening.

So I can go to school and work in different year group bubbles over the day, but can't celebrate my niece 's birthday next week because 4 of us plus 3 of them =7?

Yes - because education is essential, but you, like me, blow your risk budget every day at work and should spend it like a miser (if we have to spend it at all) in all other contexts.

islockdownoveryet · 08/09/2020 22:54

It's a shit show I agree , I'm in Greater Manchester so we've had local lockdown for a few weeks now . Those saying can have 30 in a class but not in my house .
Yes because school and work is essential meeting family is not .

StatisticalSense · 08/09/2020 22:55

@PinkMacaron
Are you being deliberately awkward or just plain stupid. A person is a person regardless of whether they are 100 hours or a 100 years old and whether they are your husband or you aunties, girlfriends, sisters, catsitter.

FGS, can't you just put your extra kid in the shed? & others when you have visitors!

Too bloody sift insisting they stay in the house!

🤣🤣

Blame the idiots who pushed & pushed the guidelines

lyralalala · 08/09/2020 22:55

I know that. My point was about someone locally who just doesn't get it and has reported my household multiple times, and no doubt now will again.

alright love, calm down.....verging on hysterics there
boys3 · 08/09/2020 22:55

Presumably though as long as something is specific and limited it will still be ok Wink

why are people reporting you? idiots

ConiferGate · 08/09/2020 22:56

How dare they do this while testing, contact tracing and support for isolation is such a shitshow? They should sort out out their own responsibilities before restricting public freedoms any further.

Couldn’t agree more.

Clear comms: FAILED
PPE: FAILED
Protecting care homes: FAILED
World beating track and trace: FAILED
Mass testing: FAILED

But yes, it’s all our fault.

ineedaholidaynow · 08/09/2020 22:56

But people have been saying on here for ages that people need to stick to the guidelines to help schools stay open, it is not rocket science. Obviously better measures in schools will help, but at the moment it is people bringing the virus into schools that is causing the problem

lyralalala · 08/09/2020 22:57

I might stick MIL in the shed...

It actually makes no difference to us as my youngest was on the vulnerable shielding list so we've been very, very cautious.

I'm tempted to take bets as to how long it'll be before one of the community bobbies pop by to check how many are in my garden.

is it? schools have only just returned, theres been very little time for it to cause a problem as yet
RideaCockHorseOfCourse · 08/09/2020 22:58

Jesus christ, Monday? So what do we think will happen at the weekend then? Benders, parties, lots of Covid spreading before everyone has to lockdown further? If introducing new restrictions, don't leave a bloody 'free' weekend before imposing it.....

Loonyloo87 · 08/09/2020 22:58

This is all getting ridiculous now, the new restrictions have been brought out for absolutely no reason. The death rate last week was ten! This virus clearly wasn’t what we thought it was originally or it at least seems to be getting a lot weaker.

Introducing this new rule is silly and totally unenforceable. Surely it doesn’t matter how many people catch covid? What matters is the amount of people being hospitalised with it or dying.

It’s a depressing world now, go to work with 50+ people on an office (because that’s allowed) go to the supermarket for food with 100+ people (because that’s also allowed) then go home. I used to laugh at all the conspiracy nuts but now I really do think there’s something fishy going on. Either that or the government are completely power and control crazy.

BilberryBaggins · 08/09/2020 22:58

But also, I think you are allowed to meet up with others, without being subject to the 6 only rule

It's almost like they learned nothing from the first surge. Horse racing. A long notice that includes "one last weekend". etc.
fuzzyducky · 08/09/2020 22:59

Does an extra curricular club outside of attended school count? I signed dc up to a Saturday club to start soon. It's at a school but nowhere near their usual school.
Wondering if this will now be cancelled or if will count as a 'school' for the purposes of rules.

So tired of all of this now. I am SD and not really going anywhere but I have a young only dc and the toll it's taking on them is far greater for them than the effect this disease appears to be taking now. I want them to have a life. Even a SD one but now wondering if that's even possible.

LesLavandes · 08/09/2020 23:00

Who regularly has 30 people in their house?

cantkeepawayforever · 08/09/2020 23:00

Introducing this new rule is silly and totally unenforceable.

The whole point is that it makes what has ALWAYS been the rule into a law, which is enforceable.

The rule itself is NOT new.

shinynewapple2020 · 08/09/2020 23:00

Ummm...... I think she was joking Hmm

ineedaholidaynow · 08/09/2020 23:00

@LoveNote quite a few schools are already sending whole year groups home for 2 weeks as a pupil has tested positive. If you are a Y11 pupil hoping to do GCSEs this year, and trying to catch up from last term, 2 weeks is not great, and it will just get repeated
