Considering there are so many on the other thread that are and that the rhetoric on other threads seems to be not about the amount of deaths, but of the the long term side effects,it would be interesting to hear from people who HAVEN'T had these.

I don’t know anyone that’s had it.

Huhokthen · 13/08/2020 07:28

I know six people who've had it and literally no one suffered for more than a week.

Phenoncular · 13/08/2020 07:29

Yes, I know some people who had it very mildly and are showing no after effects and two person who had it fairly severely (one required hospitalisation)- neither currently have after effect.

myworkingtitle · 13/08/2020 07:29

I only know one person who has had it, they were ill for a few days then fine.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/08/2020 07:30

My mum had it in April (51 years old), no long term effects although it took about 6 weeks for her to fully recover. She's fine now, works full time and goes to the gym 4 times a week.

Lordamighty · 13/08/2020 07:34

I know 2 people who had it in early March, both in their 60’s, ill for about a week, fully recovered.

Rockybooboo · 13/08/2020 07:36

I know 10 people who've had it and for most it was on a par with flu, the rest they just felt tired. No after efleets.

Granolaslice · 13/08/2020 07:36

Yes, a good friend. She’s a nurse and her only symptom was a loss of her sense of smell. She got it back very soon afterwards and now 4 months on she’s completely fine and feels better (and fitter) than she has done in years apparently!

joleyn · 13/08/2020 07:38

I had it end of March, barely any symptoms except loss of smell/taste, recovered within a week. Positive antibody test end of June. Similar for a friend, although she had more flu like symptoms for 2 weeks (She has asthma) but fully recovered.

Danglingmod · 13/08/2020 07:39

Obviously, in the early days you couldn't get tested so you might not know many people who had it mildly in comparison to severely?

I know ten people who've had it: 6 died, 2 were on ventilators and didn't die but still long term affected, 2 long term poorly and never hospitalised. I don't know anyone who's (had a test) and had it mildly.

I don't extrapolate from that that there's a 60% chance of death and 40% chance of very severe illness.

It's just anecdotes.

Jrobhatch29 · 13/08/2020 07:41

The family of 4 next door to my parents plus a grandparent that lives with them all had it. The grandparent wad quite poorly but they all recovered with no lasting effects. My work friends dad tested positive after caring for someone after an operation who was later found to be positive. He didn't have any symptoms and remains fine

irwellmummy · 13/08/2020 07:42

My close friends had it- the wife was poorly with for about a week but 100% recovered and the husband is still suffering with breathlessness and lethargy several months later. Really strange how it attacks some people worse than others.

toolatetooearly · 13/08/2020 07:43

Yup, my friend/work colleague in the US had it, he was ill for a few days, but fine after that and has been ok since. He kept working throughout too!

Layladylay234 · 13/08/2020 07:45

@irwellmummy Defo, very odd. I wonder when they'll find out why some people have after effects and others don't.

Thanks all for the responses. Fyiw,I'm not trying to extrapolate anything from this thread, just trying to give an alternative view to the idea that is bouncing around that yes,you won't die from it,but you will suffer terrible after effects.

Yes I know about 5 who had it very mildly, no health issues at all, they are all young though.

KnobChops · 13/08/2020 07:50

I work in a hospital and 30% of us have antibodies. The overwhelming majority of us feel fine now. I don’t know anyone on long term sick leave. For me personally I’ve had far worse colds. The mild shortness of breath was a little disconcerting but didn’t last long, I feel fine now (blocked nose quite often but impossible to tell if that isn’t just hay fever). DH just had a few aches and pains and a fever which lasted a few hours. Quite a few staff at work were completely asymptomatic (positive on surveillance testing) or just noticed mild headaches. BUT we had 7 staff die, which was tragic. We probably did ‘ok’ because most of us are aged below 60.

VashtaNerada · 13/08/2020 07:51

We had it at my school. I’m not aware of anyone with long term effects, certainly not anyone I’m close to.

LiBan · 13/08/2020 07:52

My friend and her 3 daughters all had it and they are fine now. Sick for about 10 days. No picnic. But it is behind them

MayFayre · 13/08/2020 07:52

I know 6 people who have had it, 2 of them quite ill for weeks but not so ill that they needed to go to hospital and 1 totally asymptomatic.

None have long-term after effects (or not ones they know of yet).
1 has had their mental healthy very badly affected. They are petrified (no exaggeration) of going out, catching it again, etc.

olivo · 13/08/2020 07:53

I know two people who had it. One unwell for a week or so, felt like a 'normal' virus, totally fine now. Another was a symptomatic, picked up positive in an antibody test.

Endlessmizzle · 13/08/2020 07:55

Just been having a discussion with friends - two couples in London only know they had it because of work antibody tests. We think we may have had it too in late feb as extremely brief raised temps but I went through a long period of bizarre fatigue and dh developed very unusual rash.

Kitcat122 · 13/08/2020 07:55

Our family had it, 5 out of 6 had symptoms. 3 ill for a week. 1 very poorly for 2 weeks all fine now. Me flu like for 2 weeks mildly but still breathless and chest pain 4 months on. Most people are fine it's just you don't know if you will be a long term Covid. I am probably the fittest in my family. I am much better now but still cannot exercise yet.

OpheliasCrayon · 13/08/2020 07:56

Yes me and my husband, two friends and their parents and about 12 other friends. I know a lot of people who have had it, and tested positive , not bad at the time and not bad after

bigbluebus · 13/08/2020 07:57

I don't know anyone who's had Covid 19 at all - and I know quite a lot of people!

Bluebellpainting · 13/08/2020 07:57

Yes I know of 3 people who have been antibody positive but never had any symptoms. They are all healthcare professionals and one worked on a Covid ward.
