Considering there are so many on the other thread that are and that the rhetoric on other threads seems to be not about the amount of deaths, but of the the long term side effects,it would be interesting to hear from people who HAVEN'T had these.

OP posts:
alreadytaken · 16/08/2020 09:48

should have been including apparently healthy young people.

Hercwasonaroll · 16/08/2020 09:51

Three people who have had it and no long term effects. Ill for a week ish and fine. All 30ish and healthy weight.

TinyLittleTeePee · 16/08/2020 09:59

I know roughly 15 people who have had it including me and none have had any long term effects.

When I had it I had a very slight sore throat and no other symptoms. DH had a mild cough.

My neighbour, who is 65 and obese with type 2 diabetes had it too and had a cough and temperature for a few days and was then fine.

I don't know anyone who has even felt seriously ill with it, let alone had long lasting effects.

pourmeanotherglass · 16/08/2020 10:09

I dont know anyone who has tested positive yet. Im in South West where numbers are low.

Chocolatefreak · 17/08/2020 13:48

My husband and son and I had it, so did my sister, her daughter and her husband. No long term effects, my husband and brother-in law had a temperature and cold-like symptoms at the time, and my son, niece, my sister and I were virtually asymptomatic, only loss of taste and smell. This was back in March. I have friends my age who had it and recovered but suffered chest problems for about two months afterwards. I know elderly people who died. A doctor at our surgery also died from it. We tested positive for anti bodies but of course do not know if that means immunity.

In the link to the data in that article it says:

Many of the younger victims had diabetes or were obese, highlighting the risks people with health problems face no matter their age.

So not chronically ill people, but not "healthy" either.

rosiethehen · 17/08/2020 15:16

Dh, ds2 and I had it in March. Dh recovered best whilst ds and I were weak and tired afterwards. My weakness and breathlessness went on for weeks afterwards and I still get wheezy sometimes, but I am an ex smoker.

Two of our friends (both mid 30’s, reasonably healthy, probably just overweight on the BMI) who work in a hospital had it early on. Both are fine now, I saw them recently and they both were really well. It’s reassured me a lot as I worry loads about Covid.

alreadytaken · 17/08/2020 17:17

jrobhatch to quote "That would make the coronavirus one of the leading causes of death for this age group, roughly comparable to the number of younger people who were murdered over the same time period in recent years.

And these figures include only deaths officially attributed to the virus. The overall death count in the U.S. is far higher than normal this year, suggesting that the virus’s toll is even greater than the official numbers show. More than 96,000 people age 25-44 have died so far this year, compared with an average of 78,000 at this point over the previous five years."

Yes quite a few had diabetes or were obese or both but not all of them. I could include more but here are a few of th uk ones for you.

I am not quite sure why you would burst onto a thread that is meant to be reassuring and basically tell everyone they are doomed to be honest. Absolutely frothing at anything remotely positive!

newname81 · 17/08/2020 17:26

I know a few people at work who have had it one (an anaesthetist) didn't even know he had it, looking back he was able to say oh ok that explains this. He has no long term effects and is late 60s/early 70s. A friend of mine had it, she suffered a bit more when she had it but has no long term issues.

alreadytaken · 17/08/2020 17:41

jrobhatch29 young people are not immune to this virus. You can be reassuring - the risk of death is low if you are young - without being stupid. But you chose to take issue with that so you prompted a reminder of some of those who were not immune.

Personally I'd rather not see young people dying, you seem to be quite happy with it.

What on earth are you on about? Yeah I am absolutely thrilled about itConfused This is a meant to be a positive, reassuring thread about good recoveries. You have burst on telling everyone young, healthy people are dying. Without any context or background information. We all know young people are not immune!! That isn't what this thread was about.
Jrobhatch29 · 17/08/2020 17:59

I fail to see how your message of "young healthy people are dying" was remotely reassuring or in keeping with the tone of this thread tbh. Anyway I am not arguing.

It is really reassuring to read about the good recoveries.

The risk of death is low if you’re young? It’s minuscule. You have more chance of dying in a car accident on your way to work than of covid if you’re young and healthy.
BigBadVoodooHat · 17/08/2020 20:51

I know only one person who has had it: over 75, clinically obese, and diabetic. Didn’t know she had it, only found out because she was in hospital for something else and was swabbed as standard.

She had no symptoms at the time, and has suffered no other short- or long-term effects.

Gingerfish91 · 18/08/2020 09:40

Personally I know one person. She is 49, in hospital for 3 weeks at the beginning (not in a ventilator). Mashed fine now.

Gingerfish91 · 18/08/2020 09:40

She’s fine - not mashed!

Babdoc · 18/08/2020 09:51

I developed covid on March 23rd, and was hospitalised after 2 weeks at home. I’ve got severe after effects.
I’m breathless at 100 yards, having previously been very fit, and a CT lung scan 3 weeks ago showed that I have covid angiopathy - the blood vessels in my lungs are damaged and can’t pick up enough oxygen.
I have muscle aches and weakness, fatigue, and insomnia- I wake every couple of hours with my lungs filling up with fluid, and I have to spend an hour coughing and swallowing to clear them.
Please don’t underestimate covid, or be careless about preventive measures - surviving the acute illness is only the beginning for many patients.
There are so many of us long haulers now that the NHS is setting up covid rehab clinics to try and help - although there is no cure, just physiotherapy, breathing exercises etc.

Inkpaperstars · 18/08/2020 22:01

I have long term effects from it. I know some people who had it who seem ok, but I haven't seen them much or asked in detail about it.

It should be emphasised though that people who are entirely asymptomatic have, on examination in research, actually suffered lung damage. There are many long term effects, eg. Neurological, which are being raised as risks but no one would know yet.

So people should not assume they will have no long term effects.

Many very common viruses can cause or contribute to serious disease years or decades after infection.

Inkpaperstars · 18/08/2020 22:08

I am so sorry to hear of your struggles Babdoc

Layladylay234 · 18/08/2020 22:24

Again, thanks to all those who actually read the thread title and commented. I can see there have been numerous threads on here about people with long term effects,I was interested to hear the flipside of this as clearly,it's not happening to everyone who gets it.

OP posts:
Inkpaperstars · 18/08/2020 23:09

I should correct my post, I meant to say some people who were asymptomatic have actually suffered lung damage.

supadupapupascupa · 19/08/2020 10:50

Dog tested positive for antibodies yesterday, we can't remember him being ill in the last 12 months! I have my test on Thursday and was poorly with a temp and headache mid March with my daughter. No after effects tho

supadupapupascupa · 19/08/2020 10:51

Not DOG!! Ffs DH
