Considering there are so many on the other thread that are and that the rhetoric on other threads seems to be not about the amount of deaths, but of the the long term side effects,it would be interesting to hear from people who HAVEN'T had these.

Probably quite a lot of us have had it with no symptoms and no lasting effects but haven’t been antibody tested.

My bro in law and his new girlfriend both had it - they said it was like a bad hangover for a week but are both fine now. He is quite overweight too.

janeyloves · 13/08/2020 22:27

Yes. I know 4 families of 5 that had it and 1 family of 3. All mildly. All absolutely fine.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 13/08/2020 22:30

I was really ill and in hospital. Struggling 8 weeks on with fatigue, really low mood and anxiety. Plus my hair is falling out. Husband still has sweats but nothing else. DD is fine.

Nighttimefreedom · 13/08/2020 22:33

I know 1 person who has the antibodies and had absolutely no idea at all (appreciate this could be a false result) and 2 men late 50s who had it with only mild symptoms. Don't know of anyone else directly or indirectly that's had it.

Scbchl · 13/08/2020 22:39

Me, I had it 20th March till first week in April. Smell and taste was gone for 3 or 4 weeks and that was the longest symptom and been totally fine since. I'm almost 35. Slightly overweight with minor heart issues had no long term effects. Covid was absolutely nowhere near as bad as glandular fever for me which had me off school and in bed for months as a teenager. I lost so much weight and had cfs after it.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 13/08/2020 22:50

I had tilt and was ill for about 5 days. Most people at my work had it around the same time and no one was very ill with it. I know of people who have had it and died but one already had cancer and one was about 85 and very frail so neither of them had long left either way. I don't know anyone who's still suffering and I haven't heard of anyone in my school or their families, or anyone I know who is isolating or ill for months now. This is in London where we peaked early.

PimlicoJo · 13/08/2020 22:52

I only know a couple of people who have had it. They recovered within about 3 weeks and are fine.

theBelgranoSisters · 13/08/2020 22:58

I had Covid early March after being in Europe. The dry coughing and burning feeling in my lungs was pretty bad at times and struggled to breathe a fair bit but i was feeling ok-ish within 2 weeks(still a bit wiped out, coughy) and fine by time i returned to Oz. Havent had any after effects at all in the past 5 months.

pinkpetal2 · 13/08/2020 22:58

I think I may of had it but around December times when I had my baby. I was having fevers. I was constantly coughing till I wet myself but nothing would come of my chest. I was tested for everything and all they could say was it was some type of virus. I then got conjunctivitis and impetigo on my face Confused.

Mistymountain · 13/08/2020 23:12

I know three people who've had it - all are fully recovered. They were only ill for a few days

MrsBennetsnerves · 13/08/2020 23:28

I had after effects for months, although I've been feeling almost fully recovered during the last month. I also know of a couple of people who only felt ill for a week. A friend of a friend died, but they were elderly.

onlinelinda · 13/08/2020 23:53

I was ill for 6 weeks until May but on and off for the final two. I'm ok now.

manicinsomniac · 13/08/2020 23:59

Of course! For most people it's an unpleasant but not especially serious illness. And for many, it's not even that.

Of the people I know personally rather than just know of:

1 person was extremely ill, in ICU for about 8 weeks and is a long way from okay now.

1 person had it quite mildly but it dragged on and on for about 3 months with her just never feeling quite right, getting tired and spiking mild fevers.

8 people said they'd never felt so rough in their lives but it was just one awful week (2 weeks for 1 of them) then they were ok.

4 people (all children) just felt out of sorts and had an annoying cough.

1 person would never have known she had it if she hadn't been tested at work. No symptoms at all.

SaltyAndFresh · 14/08/2020 00:01

I know one person who had it who also suffered a massive stroke. It's not clear whether he already had it or picked it up in hospital, or if Covid exacerbated the effects of the stroke. He has become an old man overnight but at least he survived.

chuffedasbuttons · 14/08/2020 00:02

I am waiting for an antibody test result

I believe I had it in early April. I got a tight pain in my chest but no cough or fever despite having allergy asthma. I had complete exhaustion and fatigue. 10 days in bed as did DD 12. DP lost smell etc but no other symptoms (I caught it from him).

When I was a teen, I had EBV - Glandular Fever. I was VERY poorly. For months and ongoing CFS persisting for many years. It's not affected me for around 10 years, since early mid 30's.

The 15 yr old lad I caught it from was fairly asymptomatic. Unknowing I had it, a 16 yr old lad I later kissed also caught it. He was ill for a fortnight with a full recovery.

I don't feel scared of Covid when I compare it to EBV. We all suffer it differently.
EBV is a notorious virus rife in teens. 90% of the population are said to have had it/carry the virus. A small group go on the suffer ME and CFS.

I have been having CFS relapses since April. It seems Covid has poked my EBV to resurface. Hence I had an antibody test plus a general health check of full bloods etc.

Covid is a virus affecting the elderly. To my mind, it's a virus just like EBV. But obviously no one particularly dies from EBV

But it definitely causes lost viral symptoms exactly in the same way.

ToLongNow · 14/08/2020 00:04

I know 6 people who had it....

4 kids, no ill effects afterwards

1 adult, still very bad breathing problems after months with it

1 sadly died

GabriellaMontez · 14/08/2020 07:12

Several. One hasn't recovered full smell yet. Others are 100%

One has antibodies but didn't know shed had it.

Doublechins · 14/08/2020 21:43

I know two people who've had it and both were asymptotic

Doublechins · 14/08/2020 21:43

A symptomatic 🙄 autocorrect

whitepebblecactus · 14/08/2020 21:48

I know one person who had it in March. She's fine.

Tartan333 · 15/08/2020 23:50

I know 2 people who have had positive tests, one felt flu like for a few days and the other totally asymptomatic, he only had the test for work screening otherwise wouldn't have known.

Both perfectly fine with no lasting effects.

daisychain1620 · 15/08/2020 23:56

My oh and ds had it both very ill but not hospitalised. Oh was ill for about 10 weeks but totally fine now. My mil was in hospital with it and has recovered well although is still a bit breathless at times.

Camomila · 16/08/2020 08:36

DBro and a Dr friend both had mild cases (both NHS so got tested through work), they had between a few days and a week of high temp/headaches/tiredness and then were fine again.

Me and the DC probably had it too, I was in bed for 2 weeks, and breathless for about 3 days, for up to a month later DS1 and I had occasional chest twinges but other than that are fine. DS2 is a baby and just coughed a bit and got gunky eyes...no signs of anything else afterwards. Standard fat happy baby.

tisonlymeagain · 16/08/2020 08:42

I don't know a single person to have have had it, but four people who have the antibodies and had no symptoms at all.

alreadytaken · 16/08/2020 09:48

Covid is not just a virus that affects the elderly. Young people, including apparently young people die of this. On a personal basis my friends and family are careful so havent had the virus as far as we know. However one relative has attended 5 virtual funerals, one (in London) knows a range from mildy affected through bad but over it, facing prolonged recovery and died.

In Florida young people are dying. www.forbes.com/sites/nicholasreimann/2020/08/11/more-young-people-are-dying-of-coronavirus-in-florida-as-state-shatters-death-record-tuesday/
