Would you have the vaccine...

Just curious. Yes or no is fine.

If the vaccine against Covid19 was offered to you would you have it?

I'm not an anti vaccinations at all ( though I don't take my dog for boosters and do a titre test to check his immunity) but I don't feel like there would be enough testing done on a rushed vaccine. It would be hard one in our little household as DH is totally for it and I'm totally against at moment! We're not in a vulnerable/shielding group, both early 40's with a teenager. Both keyworkers but not on frontline.

Yes probably. But not in any rush. I’d happily go last

tharsheblows · 02/08/2020 15:39

Yes! I'm in the trial and have received either the Oxford vaccine or the control (a meningitis vaccine). They've just said that there is a booster for people in the trial and I'll get that as well.

BertieBob · 02/08/2020 15:41

In a heartbeat. I've signed up for the trail too.

MissConductUS · 02/08/2020 15:41

@2pinkginsplease

No I think it’s being rushed though and not had enough time to test it!
The phase three trials that test safety and efficacy are only just starting now for a few candidates. How long they take depends on long it takes for a statistically significant number of subjects in the placebo/control group to get infected. If the trial is done in an area with low transmission rates it can take a long time to get an adequate number of infection events. In the US subjects are being recruited in hot spot areas to speed things up.

Yes - for those saying they don't trust the government, they haven't made the vaccine. It's made and tested by scientists
But as this pandemic has shown, not all scientists agree. If the government found a group of scientists to make a vaccine and paid them to go on a briefing and say it was really safe, they would.

The government-funded medic and scientist types have very much toed the party line, or if they didn’t...they were quickly dropped from the daily briefing.

Yes.

Undecided, I’d be at the back of the queue. My husband is keen but we’ve both agreed that we wouldn’t get our toddler vaccinated until much much later in the program (maybe a year or two). Presumably they aren’t testing on children yet I would want more information before making a decision.

Isotope456 · 02/08/2020 15:49

Yes.

Snozzlemaid · 02/08/2020 15:49

Yes

iVampire · 02/08/2020 15:50

Maybe

I have leukaemia. And although it’s looking likely that it will be safe to receive it, there is that extra safety issue to be considered

AAT65 · 02/08/2020 15:50

Yes indeed. In the clinically vulnerable group but back to school for in service a week tomorrow. Stuffy dining hall with significantly over 50 adults who haven't been socially distancing. Two days later add the super spreader cherubs. No risk assessment seen yet

halcyondays · 02/08/2020 15:51

Yes

Annebronte · 02/08/2020 15:52

Yes. I’ve also volunteered for trials and I always get a flu jab. (Offered to all staff annually at the school I teach in.) It hasn’t been dangerously rushed, just prioritised.

Northernsoullover · 02/08/2020 15:53

Definitely. I have volunteered to be in the trial but I either work alone or I work from home.

Northernsoullover · 02/08/2020 15:54

Posted too soon. Its unlikely I will be a suitable candidate because I don't mix with people.

NothingIsWrong · 02/08/2020 15:54

Yes and I volunteered for the trials

duckme · 02/08/2020 15:56

I really don't know. I've said from the beginning that I'd take whatever was offered so that we could go back to normal life. However, I am struggling to have a great deal of confidence in the government right now!

timeforawine · 02/08/2020 15:57

Lissy23 · 02/08/2020 15:58

I’m not sure

Pacif1cDogwood · 02/08/2020 15:59

Yes.

Also, you are not anti-vaccine so why would you not give your dog a well proven, effective available vaccine against a recognised infectious disease? I don't get it, sorry.
