Personal wish list, not what’s best for the country nor what I think should actually be prioritised. Just my fingers crossed hopes:

Primary schools - at least part time
Playgrounds
Being able to sit on a bench/grass while exercising the kids, not having to keep moving at all times
Being able to drive further than a mile down the road without the police questioning you (yes this happened several times to people in my (pretty compliant) rural SE town.
Keeping support bubbles with single adult households

Also wouldn’t mind my UK holiday going ahead in 3 weeks time.

What do you think my chances are?

Schools, even regular part time would be fine but my child needs to be back at school for the social element as much as the educational one.
Restaurants, but only because I work in one and don't want to be at risk of losing my job.
Zoos
Golf courses.
Museums/galleries.
Anything else especially shops I dont really miss.

Bluebellpainting · 02/08/2020 21:32

Don’t have school aged children but schools
Nursery as DS is due to start in November when I return to work. He will get a place at some nursery but may not be my chosen one if lockdown happens again as I will be a key worker. I’d like him to be able to meet some children his age.
Mum and baby groups- FTM and only have 2 mum friends as most of my friends don’t have kids yet
Ability to remain in a bubble with my mum as will need her help when I’m on nights and husband is away but also she will struggle being on her own again.

Lovemusic33 · 02/08/2020 21:44

For me schools being open (most important), I have one child about to start A levels the other about to start GCSE with special needs, both are missing school and routine.

I would like to be able to eat out but understand that it may not be safe to do so. I’m happy not to go too far during the winter, it’s more important that I can see close family and friends.

I just hope we can get through the rest of summer and autumn without being back in lockdown.

soundsystem · 02/08/2020 21:44

Schools. And being able to mix households so the children can see their grandparents.

Coffee shops and cafes, and offices/workplaces (this, selfishly, so I still have a job!)

Playgrounds and being able to sit on park benches.

Outdoor markets.

Libraries, museums.

To be honest, I want everything back to how it was Sad

Pillypocket666 · 02/08/2020 21:45

And I hope anyone who can conceivably work from home is allowed to do so.“ Yes, this too. Forcing people back in who can very effectively work from home in the hope they’ll buy a sandwich or coffee, all the while infections rising, is nuts.

Arrgh - It isn't just sandwiches and coffee though. Say the cafe buys in bread (most do). Builder builds factory, fire alarm engineer makes the factory safe, cleaners make the factory clean, mechanics keep the delivery vehicles working, the driver gets the bus to work, the bus builder builds the bus. Every single item purchased in the world depends on another person working to create the tiniest of components that all fits together. We all need each other to be out in the world.

I also don't think people realise the significance of home working - in the majority of businesses it can easily be outsourced to anywhere in the world if working from home.

Schools and universities

WinWinnieTheWay · 02/08/2020 21:53

Schools
Places of worship

Being allowed to visit outdoor places.

Trackandtrace · 02/08/2020 22:00

Hospitals to be able to have capacity for all emergencies/illnesses and for vital treatments to continue.
For parents to be given free choice to decide on schooling without the pressure of fines.
To still be able to get food delivered as needed

RaggieDolls · 02/08/2020 22:04

Schools. I would give up anything for schools to be back as usual....my 8 year old sobbed when she found out her 6 year old brother was going back and she wasn't. She hasn't been herself ever since.

From a more altruistic point of view I'd like to see patients accessing NHS services properly.

A frivolous one would be seeing Brownies, ballet, Beavers etc back but I would give all that up if it helped keep schools open.

Lemons1571 · 02/08/2020 22:07

@nancybotwinbloom normal will only come when we have a vaccine rolled out to the majority of the population. I can’t see another way. Easing restrictions = rise in cases. There’s no way out of that no matter how much time passes.

Schools. Our children haven't been to school since March. They miss it, and wfh throughout with them at home has been hard.

Much as I love the pub, and eating out and all that, I can cope with them being shut. I can't cope with the kids missing another 4 months of school.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 02/08/2020 22:18

Schools, universities and healthcare

I’d love swimming pools to stay open.

And I’d rather like them to cancel GCSEs again. If I can only have one thing it would be full time school for year 11 with teacher assessed grades

WhentheDealGoesDown · 03/08/2020 07:51

Dentists, hairdressers, caravan sites (autumn). Schools are not on my main list as I have no school age children but it is also very important these are kept open

Rainmr · 03/08/2020 10:15

Schools and universities open as normal as possible. Museums, galleries etc would be a bonus. I am not bothered about pubs, shopping, gyms etc,

Flev · 03/08/2020 10:16

As the parent of a toddler, playgrounds open has made the biggest difference to us.
If I could have a wish for one more change I'd love to have the option for every household to form a permanent bubble with one other if they want to, so she could properly interact with her grandparents. It's not easy to play with a toddler whilst staying 2m apart.

Smileyoriley · 03/08/2020 10:44

Schools, healthcare settings with staff well supported and with adequate funding, and as many outdoor spaces and activities as possible.
Selfishly, hair salons- the one frivolous thing I missed!

kateybeth79 · 03/08/2020 11:21

Schools, gymnastics clubs, dance schools, hairdressers, gyms, beauty salons (if they ever open!) Obviously it's not an exhaustive list but what I've missed the most

Cloudburstagain · 03/08/2020 11:37

Childminder’s and primary schools.
Dentists.
Gp’s - to be able to see one or have a booked set time for an appointment online.
National Trusts grounds and English Heritage outdoor areas.

Lemons1571 · 03/08/2020 11:39

@JellyBabiesSaveLives I think they should seriously consider teacher assessment for next years GCSE’s too. Bloody madness - the Ofqual consultation proposal to keep all the subject content in, just removing the odd practical. They’ve missed 14 blimmin weeks plus god knows how many isolations this autumn and winter. Utter nonsense and given the rate that infections are now increasing, probably completely unachievable.

Frazzled2207 · 03/08/2020 11:43

Schools
And to be able to visit my parents in their house and vv.

Abkbjbjb · 03/08/2020 11:45

School, school, school........ doesn't even bare thinking about them not being back full time 😢.i will happily forego everything and anything for their education

claragolightly · 03/08/2020 12:09

The gym. Family meet ups.

I don't have children, but schools. My cousin missed out on his GCSEs. There was already too much of a divide between the haves and have nots, which is only getting worse. I don't know why there is no plan B for them.

Couldn't care less about pubs / shops / restaurants, but I appreciate the job losses would be huge, and it would be terrible for staff.

boon · 03/08/2020 12:10

Schools - I'm not worried about anything else.

TurtleTortoise · 03/08/2020 15:45

Support bubbles. Tbh I think they should have been allowed from the start.

Access to NHS treatments especially screening services and so on - preventative stuff.

Spodge · 03/08/2020 18:06

In terms of what will impact my personal life: gyms, restaurants, dentists. (Well, I hope not to need the dentist, but not having them available has been a national disgrace).
