Personal wish list, not what’s best for the country nor what I think should actually be prioritised. Just my fingers crossed hopes:

Primary schools - at least part time
Playgrounds
Being able to sit on a bench/grass while exercising the kids, not having to keep moving at all times
Being able to drive further than a mile down the road without the police questioning you (yes this happened several times to people in my (pretty compliant) rural SE town.
Keeping support bubbles with single adult households

Also wouldn’t mind my UK holiday going ahead in 3 weeks time.

What do you think my chances are?

Nursery. Anything else I can cope with, but working from home full time with a toddler was so, so bad for both of our mental health, I really don’t think I can do that again. Furlough or reducing hours wasn’t an option as I’m public sector and workload went through the roof.

happymummy12345 · 02/08/2020 15:39

Primary schools as my son starts reception this year and when he couldn't go to nursery he was so upset and it impacted on his behaviour. I'd hate for him to have to miss school as well.

I hope restaurants can stay open otherwise my husband will not be able to work again (I'm a full time mum so have no income), and while we just about scraped by it wasn't easy at all (though of course I fully appreciate and understand may were in the same situation).

Also my dad used to live 250 miles away so when this started it didn't impact on us at all because we wouldn't have seen him anyway. However very recently he moved and now lives 20 minutes away. My son loves being able to see his grandad. So if that had to stop he would be very upset.

Lastly I'd want to still be able to get my nails and eyebrows done. I don't do anything else in that respect and I messed it during lockdown

Purplequalitystreet · 02/08/2020 16:04

Schools, obviously
Baby/toddler groups (doesn't have to be soft play). No one seems to care about the effect on pre schoolers

Flaxmeadow · 02/08/2020 16:05

All Schools, especially primary
Not just for education, but for social interaction with other children and most importantly child protection monitoring. Children are suffering.

SpeedofaSloth · 02/08/2020 16:07

Primary and secondary schools. I don't really care about anything else as long as they open.

alangarneristerrifying · 02/08/2020 16:10

Universities. Not clubbing, or social events, or societies, or anything like that. But some face to face small group teaching and the opportunity to live sensibly with the friends I haven't seen for months would be a lifeline, both academically and in terms of mental health. I see my peers travelling around and meeting up maskless on social media and it makes me so angry because they are increasing the risk that we won't be able to go back in October. By extension, schools, as I imagine the social isolation and loss of learning is similar for children.

EasterBuns · 02/08/2020 16:16

Schools, schools and schools.

Anything else would be immoral considering children are affected more by chickenpox and meningitis than Covid. They can’t miss out on education any longer to save the vulnerable who have the choice of shielding.

ClashCityRocker · 02/08/2020 16:19

I think schools really need to be sorted.

And we really need to get the NHS up to full service. So many people are suffering at the minute.

I'd also like two household bubbles.

Selfishly, I'd like self-catering holidays to remain a possibility. I'd be quite fine with no pubs or restaurants open.

kittensarecute · 02/08/2020 18:57

Theatre, it's what brings me the most joy. I can't cope much longer without any shows on the horizon (I'm very heavily involved in amateur dramatics), my mental health is really fragile at the moment. I also hope bubbles continue to be allowed so I can continue to see my Dad.

Sailingblue · 02/08/2020 19:41

Schools, nurseries etc. My child’s mental health was horribly impacted by lockdown and isolation. I’d do anything to make sure she can have normal social contact with her peers, even if that means part-time schooling. I don’t think any primary child should miss out like so many did over the summer.

christinarossetti19 · 02/08/2020 19:47

Schools, further and higher education, and nurseries.

uglyface · 02/08/2020 19:52

Schools and nurseries.
All healthcare (NHS and private)
Partners allowed at births

I’d also love soft play to be reopened (toddler is learning to climb and I keep finding her in odd places each time my back is turned!) but appreciate that that is the LAST thing on everyone else’s minds 😂

uglyface · 02/08/2020 19:54

Oh yes, and two household bubbles. Otherwise my school will be down a teacher for childcare reasons.

itsaratrap · 02/08/2020 20:33

Jaxhog

And I hope anyone who can conceivably work from home is allowed to do so.“

Yes, this too. Forcing people back in who can very effectively work from home in the hope they’ll buy a sandwich or coffee, all the while infections rising, is nuts.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 02/08/2020 20:45

Wine bars/pubs. Drinking at home just not the same. Also hairdressers

karmasic · 02/08/2020 20:47

I'm hoping:

All schools open and operating as best they can.
Can socialise indoors with immediate family and close friends.

That's it.

I'm lucky my job (touch wood) should be secure over winter and I work in a safe environment. As long as I can continue to work and support a elderly relative and see 'my' people I can live short term without the other stuff.

nancybotwinbloom · 02/08/2020 20:47

I thought in my own head that everything mentioned on here would be back to normal by Christmas. Will that really not be the case? Or am I just being really really disillusioned?

The first thing I thought that I Hoped was open was Grotto's for the kids for Christmas.

nancybotwinbloom · 02/08/2020 20:48

I'm hoping for the library to be open again

Nackajory · 02/08/2020 20:54

Schools for all years even if hours are reduced. Social contact with family & friends indoors.

AutumnLeavesSeptember · 02/08/2020 21:06

Schools
Dentists
Outdoor socially distant meet-ups

fluffi · 02/08/2020 21:06

My priorities:

Single/lone person bubbles
Essential NHS services - cancer and other lifesaving care
Seeing other people indoors but socially distant
Schools

Nurseries
Outdoor playgrounds / gyms
Gyms
Non-essential shops, Restaurants
Everything else ... e.g. pubs ...

EasterIssland · 02/08/2020 21:07

Schools
Being able to fly and see my family. Have cancelled twice to see each other and haven’t been. Hope I don’t have to wait til 2022 to be able to see them.

OooErrThor · 02/08/2020 21:09

Schools
Dentists
Outdoor gatherings for running, walking etc

MarshaBradyo · 02/08/2020 21:09

Schools
Nurseries

Fine to keep exercising outside, prefer the cold for running anyway.

cologne4711 · 02/08/2020 21:23

Schools and being able to exercise in small groups outside.
