Personal wish list, not what’s best for the country nor what I think should actually be prioritised. Just my fingers crossed hopes:

Primary schools - at least part time
Playgrounds
Being able to sit on a bench/grass while exercising the kids, not having to keep moving at all times
Being able to drive further than a mile down the road without the police questioning you (yes this happened several times to people in my (pretty compliant) rural SE town.
Keeping support bubbles with single adult households

Also wouldn’t mind my UK holiday going ahead in 3 weeks time.

What do you think my chances are?

Reading this, it's interesting how it differs to the government priorities. People value seeing their mothers or meeting up with friends even socially distanced outside, and the government values shops and pubs and workplaces.

I get why these differences are there. The government needs taxes. It's just interesting to think of what the reactions would be like if they told us to stop seeing our family and friends again and instead go shopping or for a drink.

Mumratheevergiving · 02/08/2020 10:22

Essential:
Schools open & all children in at least part time. No cherry picking years and abandoning others.

Bubbles with single households - no long periods of total isolation for people.

Desirable:

Having another household join you, even if limited to no food etc and only once per week (to limit contacts)

Bookshops

Cleaners still able to operate in homes (unless in local lockdown) and ability for them to claim money if they can’t work due to local lockdown.

Garden centre grottos or other outdoor Christmas /light show events that could be ticketed/ one way etc

Secondary schools - it is vital that they are opened as the pupils are going through the most important time in their education. Everything else can wait. I miss the theatre, our cancelled holiday, attending church without restriction, but it can all wait as long as the Secondaries are open again. I don't go to pubs so they could close them tomorrow from a personal perspective. However, if would be much better if they don't as more people could lose their jobs if they close, including my dsis.

Schools

Lelophants · 02/08/2020 10:26

I don't have school age children but I know this is really important. So schools in some form. I dont know how.

This probably means other socialising will need to take a hit :(

I personally just want to keep my bubble and be able to see the odd people outside at a distance. Even just one person.

Yep, schools definitely don't seem to be a priority so they Sad

I would be happy with part time in school/distance learning as long as it is properly organised/planned (I.e. not last minute) but we're lucky enough to be able to WFH, anyone who WOH would potentially be screwed.

Lissy23 · 02/08/2020 10:27

Playgroups
Meeting people indoors (one household joins another, but not limited to single parents/single households, available to everyone)
Playgrounds
Cafes and coffee shops

Don’t care about pubs in the slightest.

Lelophants · 02/08/2020 10:28

@squidgebum it might be we can only see others if we go to a restaurant Grin

It seems like pubs are a problem. It's the alcohol.

x2boys · 02/08/2020 10:28

Schools need to reopen even if it's part time, ,I don't care about pubs, gyms etc

Mumratheevergiving · 02/08/2020 10:29

Squidgebum your post reminded me of something I saw on social media today

What are you hoping will stay open/allowed this winter?
Pillypocket666 · 02/08/2020 10:29

Offices- already set up to SD, masses of prep done but not allowed. Quickly going mad at home.
Swimming Pool
Gym

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/08/2020 10:30

Schools, and I'd like to keep my mum in my bubble so she can still come into our house and have the children visit her. Everything else is a nice addition but I can live without. But children really shouldn't miss anymore of their education.

PumpkinPie2016 · 02/08/2020 10:31

Schools. My DS is primary aged and went back for a few weeks in June. He was much happier seeing his friends again and loved the activities. I teach in secondary and I worry for my Y11/13 students in particular. Online just isn't as effective.

I'd quite like DS to be able to have swimming lessons and beavers.

The current supermarket situation is good.

Frouby · 02/08/2020 10:32

School and university. Ds in year 2, dd starting 6th form, I start university.

Sports and outdoor recreation like parks.

I didn't really miss non essential shops or the pubs. Nice to have a takeaway occasionally but could live without them.

SqidgeBum · 02/08/2020 10:32

Actually I do think both value schools reopening, but parents mostly value it for their childs education, and the government values it for childcare so parents can work.

As a teacher I can tell you if there is online learning, or wont be organised or planned, as the government has no guidance for schools bar 'fully reopen'. If the government change their mind, it will be at the last minute, and schools will have to wing it. It wont be the teachers or schools faults. We cannot plan for multiple situations and have it perfect with no guidance or time. We have no clue how to effectively teach online. That wasnt in our pgce. Teachers want schools open as much as parents do, but safely.

okiedokieme · 02/08/2020 10:37

Just want my life back to be honest. No kids now so for us live music is what we really want. We have both had c19.

ineedaholidaynow · 02/08/2020 10:41

Schools (speaking both as parent of Y11 and a Primary school governor), but must be as safe as possible for everyone

Meeko505 · 02/08/2020 10:42

Schools, no other priorities at all really. If the kids were in school/nursery my/our life would be 90% normal anyway and I wouldn't need all the other stuff to be open to keep anyone entertained. Spending a Christmas break staying in for 2 weeks watching films and eating chocolate and not seeing anyone sounds quite nice to me, and certainly after 5 months stuck inside with 2 kids it won't phase me.

Schools

bumblingalonghappily · 02/08/2020 10:46

Nurseries and baby/toddler groups (not that any baby groups around me have opened back up again yet...)

itsaratrap · 02/08/2020 10:48

Hospital appointments for other conditions

Schools

Come September my child won’t played with another child for 5 months.

Mumratheevergiving · 02/08/2020 10:49

Squidgebum I’m so dismayed (but not surprised) to hear this. We know how well the Govt’s plan to have all children back in primary after May half term went! The Government are anticipating a second wave why is there no Plan B from them for schools in the inevitable situation they have to partially or potentially fully close?! Hopefully schools will still be working on identifying which children are still most in need of technological support so they can at least access remote learning faster. The fingers crossed approach to education from the Government hasn’t been successful thus far. I’ve seen Oak academy updates so I think they will just direct schools to that.

Another thing i’d like to see run next year are school field trips to outdoor events/museums etc in their bubbles they could have exclusive use of places.

ifonly4 · 02/08/2020 10:49

Local pub/restaurant as it's the one thing we both enjoy together. Ah, and one of my places of work - if it's closed everyone will lose their jobs
