More changes, more masks, pausing further openings - plus get back to the office.

I was quite Hmm at the idea of 5000 at the races on Saturday.

OP posts:

Lewis Goodall thread on twitter is a good one for information

PM much less bullish than two weeks ago. But still a significant change in analysis between BJ and Whitty. PM basically saying we can keep going with reopening if we adhere to social distancing properly. Whitty saying we've reached limits of reopening and now we're at either/or.

Twilbury · 31/07/2020 12:51

I am furious @labyrinthloafer
I have never been so consistently angry.

ineedaholidaynow · 31/07/2020 12:52

@Fairybio cinemas was the other place you have to wear masks.

I wonder if some things will have to close after the summer holidays to ensure schools can open

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 12:53

The line “Told you so.” has never been more apt.

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 12:55

I work in school. I was only thinks this morning how strange it will be NOT to wear a mask in class when I’ve been wearing them everywhere else.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 31/07/2020 12:55

I dont think they will close anything shops/restaurants and the like. I think if anything they will go back to a full ban on households intermingling for personal/social reasons to enable schools and pubs.

rainbowstardrops · 31/07/2020 12:55

Absolutely lilgreen Sad

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 12:55

*thinking

formerbabe · 31/07/2020 12:55

I'm really confused...is this just the areas in the north or the whole of England?

Tistheseason17 · 31/07/2020 12:57

Our govt is a shit show. Thank goodness for CW.

MarshaBradyo · 31/07/2020 12:57

Hands Face Space

But no sodding Trace !

Haha they missed a trick. But they know we can only handle three words ;

covetingthepreciousthings · 31/07/2020 12:57

I took it to mean the whole of England when he was talking about not easing lockdown any further to allow wedding receptions, bowling alleys to open etc

iVampire · 31/07/2020 12:58

@labyrinthloafer

I cross-posted with you earlier in the thread

The Flowers are lovely !

PhilCornwall1 · 31/07/2020 12:59

@lockdownalli

To be clear. If you are shielding are you now shielding for an additional two weeks?
Nope, it's all paused tomorrow.
crosseyedMary · 31/07/2020 12:59

Piggywaspushed · 31/07/2020 13:00

New slogan for schools:

HANDS.

Nope. there's no more. That's it.

HappyMealWithLegs · 31/07/2020 13:02

So, you don't have to wear a mask to pack into a crowded wetherspoons on a Friday night, but you have to wear a mask to look around a museum or go to church? Have I got it right?

TheQueef · 31/07/2020 13:02

And bumpsidaisy!
No idea what Boris is on about we need an interpreter.

Polkadotties · 31/07/2020 13:03

It’s a total joke. I’m fed up of the whole bloody thing. A virus which fatally affects a minuscule proportion of the population is holding everyone to ransom. Yes, some people, again a very small proportion, have some ongoing issues but that happened pre covid with other virus’s and infections, it just wasn’t published constantly in the media.

Benjispruce · 31/07/2020 13:03

Ha ha @piggywaspushed Grin

terracottapot · 31/07/2020 13:04

And so it goes on.

I'm beginning to wish that the wearing of face coverings was now enforceable by law. People still don't take it seriously, only about two-thirds of the customers in my local supermarket this morning were wearing a mask. They've now had months to come up with an official card or letter or whatever for those who are genuinely exempt. It's about time they got their finger out.
Talk about fiddling while Rome burns.

ineedaholidaynow · 31/07/2020 13:04

@formerbabe the delaying the additional venues meant to be opening tomorrow eg bowling alleys, and the additional places you need to wear masks applies to the whole of England.

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 13:04

@terracottapot it is from 8/8 I think he said.

iVampire · 31/07/2020 13:05

“But I am so lucky to have the choice, so many will now be expected to go back to work”

Me too @msbevvy

I work in the voluntary sector with people who are all shielding or vulnerable, and it was decided a little while ago that we would not consider re-starting before September. I suppose I’ll find out idc whether we are going to try then or put off further

lilgreen · 31/07/2020 13:06

Though I have to say I haven’t seen anyone without a mask on 3 supermarket visits since the rule was made.
