More changes, more masks, pausing further openings - plus get back to the office.

I was quite Hmm at the idea of 5000 at the races on Saturday.

New slogan

New shitshow

WhiteChocTwix · 31/07/2020 12:35

Can we make CW PM ?

Let's do it, he'd be fab!

lockdownalli · 31/07/2020 12:36

@FarTooSkinny

Non wearing of face coverings to be made a capital offence. Priti Patel has been put in charge of organising the death squads
That will make her day Grin
KetoPenguin · 31/07/2020 12:36

I agree it's wrong to just end shielding when they haven't even lifted all restrictions, although I am sure some shielding people want to get out but they need to be safe.

iVampire · 31/07/2020 12:37

Thanks @MiniCoffee

KetoPenguin · 31/07/2020 12:37

Hands, Face ,Space and get a grip.

MorningManiacMusic · 31/07/2020 12:37

I think @Twilbury should be taken on as slogan writer! Grin

Twilbury · 31/07/2020 12:37

This is all sounding like race blame .

The moment they didn't step on Cummings they failed !

labyrinthloafer · 31/07/2020 12:38

Not currently confident that R is below 1 in England.

This is really fucking rubbish.

This is why I didn't feel confident my kids would be able to go to school. Because England hasn't prioritised schools.

OP posts:
lockdownalli · 31/07/2020 12:39

To be clear. If you are shielding are you now shielding for an additional two weeks?

I expect they wanted to go out, and could if they chose (it wasn't illegal) but presumably didn't want to be forced into the workplace to catch it Sad

They did say we’d get further guidance at the time of the pause - nothing’s arrived

The pause means we can WOH in ‘Covid-safe’ workplaces (not sure what that means) and deshielded DC can go to school. We can also do essential shopping in person, and attend a place of worship

It’s far from everyone else’s permitted activities, let alone normal

Who is gonna riot? The pub goers or the parents who are busy juggling schooling and working full time? Exactly. Schools will have to pivot yet again. Or open for two weeks then close.

But no sodding Trace !*

Didn't he just say 187,000 have isolated after being contacted by track and trace? I can't remember the exact number.

It might not be an app or electronic but clearly there is a track and trace system if 187,000 people have been contacted. I know it's not 100% being contacted and that would obviously be the ideal. There will always be some idiots who don't cooperate. However, to say there is no trace is clearly rubbish and deliberately inaccurate.

Ickabog · 31/07/2020 12:42

Not currently confident that R is below 1 in England.

I've come to think of the R rate as a gambler.
When they're winning it's all they want to talk about The R rate is low But when they're on a huge losing streak they never mention it The R rate is too high

iVampire · 31/07/2020 12:42

The advice changed to allow us unlimited outdoors exercise and leisure outside on 1 June, ditto distanced gatherings outside of limited size

Track and trace is shit.

The % they contact is dropping all the time.

The only 'idiots' responsible for it not working are the people in charge of it.

If schools are able to open at all, with no additional funding, staff, safety measures or masks, I predict they’ll be closed by the end of September.

I am sending flowers to anyone ending shielding, pretty shitty to end it the same day you tell the country it's not going well and we need to pull back.

I have been shielding and hadn't made any plans to do anything different after 1st August. I don't trust this government to put people's lives over business interests and it seems like ludicrous timing to end shielding now when they have opened up so much and don't know yet what effect that may have had.
But I am so lucky to have the choice, so many will now be expected to go back to work.

Oh yes the numbers are rising and everything is slowly going back to shit but still go to the office even if you can work from home. AngryAngry

I've saved my fine money anyway.

If they start the process but haven't issued the fine notice before the schools are shut down, will I still have to pay one? Angry

The completely fucked it when they supported Cummings. So many people who are perfectly sensible stopped giving a shit. How are you going to get people back out of pubs / restaurants or try to adopt a slightly less lax approach now? They're not going to get the same level of co-operation as they did before and their guidelines are inconsistent and make no sense. Go to the pub but not in your mate's garden?

TheHobbitMum · 31/07/2020 12:50

What great news! I'm so glad to finish shielding today and so looking forward to going back to work in a supermarket on Monday Sad

DomDoesWotHeWants · 31/07/2020 12:50

Extension of masks.

I suspect we're creeping closer to masks in schools.

And a very good thing that will be.
