It's not the thought of mask-wearing that's putting me off shopping, it's the not being able to try anything on in changing rooms.

SockYarn · 13/07/2020 14:46

I'm in Scotland and it already has.

Nicola Sturgeon banging on about how she's so pleased that so many people are being "good" and wearing masks. Even though she's forced us into it with a £60 fine.

I have ordered visors. I will wear one for shopping I cannot avoid - like the supermarket. Because I don;t want a fine. But will be avoiding shops otherwise.

usernotfound0000 · 13/07/2020 14:46

No, I wear one anyway. Although every time I look around and I am in the minority I do wonder why I bother, so I think it should be mandatory. Although I won't shop anymore, we still prefer online.

Longdistance · 13/07/2020 14:46

Not really. I very rarely high street shop at the best of times. I online shop as I’m tall with big feet and big boobs and there’s never anything in the shops in my size.
I’d wear them in the supermarket though.

loulouljh · 13/07/2020 14:48

Yes. but I won't go now in any event. One way systems, no touching, no trying on,...a pointless exercise with no pleasure.

MummyOfZog · 13/07/2020 14:48

Not at all

Might even be more inclined to go to busier shopping areas if I knew people around me would be wearing masks actually.

HappyHammy · 13/07/2020 14:48

I would happily continue to wear a mask but only do essential shopping. I would go to more shops if masks were mandatory. The pharmacy can be a bit of a challenge with the masks and shields so I just write a note if what I need and pass it under the till shield.

happyheartkitchen · 13/07/2020 14:49

You can actually buy some good face masks from this website www.fx-health.com if anyone is worried about safety when out shopping. I always wear mine when I go to the supermarket and think I will start wearing it as I venture into other shops moving forward.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 13/07/2020 14:49

Yes. Shopping is already shit, masks will make it more shit.

labyrinthloafer · 13/07/2020 14:50

N, will make me more likely to go.

SorrelBlackbeak · 13/07/2020 14:51

Yes. I'll carry on shopping online and doing click and collect, but won't shop for "fun".

EmMac7 · 13/07/2020 14:52

No. It will encourage me to visit.

FourTeaFallOut · 13/07/2020 14:53

No, I'm more likely to go to the shops.

NothingIsWrong · 13/07/2020 14:55

Yes. The last time I went to the supermarket, those in masks seem to feel it makes them invincible. One woman got so close to me I could feel her breath through the mask on my cheek. I'm quite happy going shopping and making sure I keep my distance from people, the masks seem to make distancing completely disappear

AldiAisleofCrap · 13/07/2020 14:56

Definitely not , I may eventually be able to actually go to the shops.

Ulrikaka · 13/07/2020 14:56

Totally put me off, I don't think they should be mandatory. I haven't missed shopping at all, so it would just be a very good reason not to visit shops.

Bmidreams · 13/07/2020 14:56

No. I will start shopping more.

megletthesecond · 13/07/2020 14:56

No.
I would be pleased and more inclined to shop. At the moment I'm avoiding shops as much as possible. I wear a mask when I do pop in.

I've just given blood in a mask and survived.

Torvi · 13/07/2020 14:56

Yes I think so. That doesn't mean I can't see the value in wearing one but it will suck the last bit of joy out of shopping for me.

neutralintelligence · 13/07/2020 15:00

N - No. I would be more likely to go into a shop if everyone had to wear masks.

However, since there is still a lot of circulating virus I won't be going inside shops if I can avoid doing so. The government should have spent a couple more weeks really driving down numbers before re-opening everything and then public confidence would have been higher. At the moment there are still so many new cases, large local outbreaks etc.

I understand the economic pressures, but it is just an acceleration of the pre-existing trend for online shopping to some extent.

The one thing that will get me out and about spending again will be a vaccine - vaccines for all.

ItsMeMyselfandI · 13/07/2020 15:00

No. I would much prefer it.

I am fast losing respect for people too selfish to bother protecting others with sd and masks. If everyone says fuck it why bother we are all even more doomed for longer.

Isotope456 · 13/07/2020 15:02

No, wouldn't put me off. I'd just put one on. I don't generally wear one but did so for the hairdressers last week and it was fine.

BigWholeBean · 13/07/2020 15:02

I’m in the US. Masks in shops have been mandatory for a long time now. I’m used to it, my kids are used to it (youngest is 4). And I feel safer with everyone wearing them

onetwothreeadventure · 13/07/2020 15:02

It would make me go.

I only see a handful of people with masks in the city where I normally shop. For now, I just buy what I need online.

EnlightenedOwl · 13/07/2020 15:05

Yes. Online shopping only which tbh I prefer
