If masks are made mandatory in England, will this put you off high street shopping?

I hate shopping. So online anyway. But I don't think masks are efficacious.

RedCatBlueCat · 13/07/2020 14:25

No.
I go to the high street maybe once month.
I've worn a mask each time I've gone. Strangely I dont wear a mask when in the local supermarket. Somehow supermarket 0.3miles from house is different in my head to high street 5 miles from the house. I'm not sure I understand my logic.

frozendaisy · 13/07/2020 14:26

No

Freddiefox · 13/07/2020 14:26

No, I would feel encouraged.

Orchidflower1 · 13/07/2020 14:27

No- I’d prefer it. At least I’d still get some protection from the idiots who don’t social distance.

nancy75 · 13/07/2020 14:28

No, I’d be more likely to go

JohnLewisfan · 13/07/2020 14:28

I wear one now for shopping, and I'd be much happier if everyone else was too.

Thinkingg · 13/07/2020 14:30

N, the opposite. It would make me more comfortable going into shops.

HalfPastThree · 13/07/2020 14:30

Yes. I will save a fortune

Daisychains20 · 13/07/2020 14:31

I will not be wearing one as I have a health condition as does my child and my father.
The rest of my family have already said they wouldn’t be going to the shops if they were made mandatory as have many people I work with.

PhoneLock · 13/07/2020 14:32

I'll wear one of I have to. I don't really do much high street shopping anyway. The last time I was in a shopping centre must be six months ago now.

Parky04 · 13/07/2020 14:32

Yes. I will not go anywhere if I have to wear a mask.

Annebronte · 13/07/2020 14:33

No. I’m in favour of any relatively easy measure to keep the infection rate dropping.

verybritishproblems · 13/07/2020 14:34

If masks ended the one way systems and the social distancing within shops then yes I’d much prefer to go.

At the moment shopping is not enjoyable. You can’t browse and I’m a browser, I love popping into shops and milling around, looking at stuff. Now I only go to shops to get stuff I need and it’s a military op and I really hate it. You can’t look at things on a shelf too long as they’ve herded everyone around a one way system and you stopping just clogs the flow.

If masks are mandatory and they keep the social distancing then no, I’d still stay away. Begs the question how effective masks are too if they also keep the other measures?

nether · 13/07/2020 14:38

No, it would not put me off.

Even when shielding pauses, we should only visit shops for food (further guidance might come just befor 01/08) so I would only go in if there was something really important to get, and no reasonable and timely way to buy any other way.

I would not want to go indoors in a place where people were not masked, unless there was space for, and enforcement of, proper distancing.

Qasd · 13/07/2020 14:38

Yes but I am pretty put off anyway given the necessary restrictions of covid, shopping is unlikely to feel like a sociable, pleasurable pass time for me for a while! Masks are just a small part of that.

Lockdownseperation · 13/07/2020 14:39

No. I would be more likely to go shopping.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/07/2020 14:40

No, I can tolerate them.
Lockdown has taught me how much I value human interaction, wandering round the shops and local businesses so I am keen to do RL shopping rather than online as much as possible. Masks are a small price to pay for now.

FurForksSake · 13/07/2020 14:41

No, I'd be more likely to go. I haven't been in a shop since March.

Chaosreigns123 · 13/07/2020 14:41

Yes it would put me off going shopping.

I don't want to be forced to wear a face covering for all sorts of reasons.

So if it was made law I'd just choose not to go places where they were compulsory.

epythymy · 13/07/2020 14:43

100% yes

timeforawine · 13/07/2020 14:43

No, i think i'd be more willing to go to shops, i'm fed up of online shopping.

MissDollyMix · 13/07/2020 14:43

Yes, although in general I support the notion as I think it might help to prevent spread. However, personally I don’t much like wearing masks so would avoid shops where possible. I would wear one if I had to though.

goatley · 13/07/2020 14:44

Yes.

If masks are mandatory I'll stay at home.

I hate my weekly supermarket shopping experience as it is so I certainly won't be going out into the High St for fun shopping.

MovingtoCardiff · 13/07/2020 14:44

Yes, I'll just do all my shopping online.
