With spas etc opening on Monday and pools and gyms on the 25th I am just wondering what else there is that remains closed?

Sunday School, Butlins and can only have extractions at the dentist. No fillings allowed and can't recement a crown 🙁

totalitarian · 09/07/2020 23:05

Although dentists are open for some emergency treatments, and non aerosol routine stuff, we are still only allowed to see a maximum of ten patients per day. Potentially it could be months until we are allowed to use a drill!

mynamesnotsam · 09/07/2020 23:06

All of my kid's activities and actually going back to school. They're so fed up. 9 year old DD was in tears tonight because she's so bored of teaching herself.

@foreverblowingbubbles87

Beauticians and spas are reopening on Monday...
Yes but treatments will be limited to nothing to do with the face - so no eyebrows, botox, fillers etc.
thecatneuterer · 09/07/2020 23:41

I should have read the full thread ...

Pipandmum · 09/07/2020 23:45

Beauticians are not reopenibg - nail bars may be but no facials.
No indoor theatre. No bowling alleys. No corporate events (my friend makes her living organising these so she is well annoyed).

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 09/07/2020 23:45

Soft play. Play cafes indoor golf bowling alleys.

daisypond · 09/07/2020 23:48

Theatres. One of my DC works in one.
Cinemas?
GP services are very curtailed.
No routine cancer screening.

However, I was allowed to bring my partner to my hospital appointment- I double checked. Several others there also had partners with them.

MayFayre · 09/07/2020 23:52

Church bellringing, except for family groups.

Buttybach · 10/07/2020 00:50

We are in wales and my daughters gymnastics club and dance classes are still not allowed to meet.
Also girlguiding are still at a stop

Time2change2 · 10/07/2020 00:56

Lots of councils still haven’t opened play areas in parks! Schools still closed for all my kids

BogRollBOGOF · 10/07/2020 00:58

My muscles and pelvic girdle miss my osteopath dearly.
Swimming was mentioned but call me cynical, I'm not holding my breath on practical guidance suitable to reactivate my DCs' swimming lessons. Or just children splashing around for fun. Not after the playgrounds/ schools debacles.
Schools. Hopefully September, but not looking like business as usual.
Volunteering in school. Not viable with this bubbles crap. More disadvantage for children needing support in an underfunded system.
Children's youth groups and indoor play.
Indoor theatre and entertainment.
Parkrun, running races.

We are crawling our way out of lockdown, but it's a long way to a normal, spontaneous way of life.

iffymiffy · 10/07/2020 10:30

@BogRollBOGOF my osteopath is open and working with full PPE!

Aragog · 10/07/2020 13:25

Schools?

We already now that these are due to be opening FT to all pupils from September (August in Scotland) and that they are - and always have been - open to some pupils throughout. We only have one more week of term left in England so no point now anyway, and I think Scotland holidays have already started,

Aragog · 10/07/2020 13:27

Hopefully September, but not looking like business as usual.

Primary schools will be almost normal based on the guidelines we've had from school. No big assemblies and whole school events, but full classes and no social distancing.

LesLavandes · 10/07/2020 13:37

No Hip Clinic. Phone consultation only. No physio

KoalasandRabbit · 10/07/2020 13:46

Schools have not been open to either of my children throughout, one with SN who needs full-time 1 to 1 so I've had to give up work. I do not know yet if they will be back full time in September, school will tell us last day of term if they can do this.

lljkk · 10/07/2020 16:33

charity shops are open here, squee! At least a few of them, which is better than none. I bought a shirt today. Everything slightly smells I find, though. There's a weird scent on the shirt. I got my car MoTd today & that has a disinfectant stink in it afterwards, too. But at least the job is done.

frustrationcentral · 10/07/2020 17:00

We're waiting for scouts to restart and Rugby training to recommence. Our scout group runs a Zoom call weekly which has been good, but not the same as a meeting. DS is desperate for rugby to start again, I believe they're at the position that they can start training in small non contact groups soon.
