With spas etc opening on Monday and pools and gyms on the 25th I am just wondering what else there is that remains closed?

"Fail to see the difference between that and a leg wax."

Does your beautician put her face near your face for 10 minutes while she waxes your legs? 🤔

Our barbers isn't doing beards either. Local beauty parlour just posted they won't be doing any facial treatments.
Dentists still not able to do check ups. DH had an appointment for next week and it has been cancelled. Receptionist said they are open for advice only if you have a problem.

Mumtumwobble · 09/07/2020 20:35

Beard trims are allowed from 13 July I think? It’ll be interesting to see how many barbers actually offer the service. Surely the government are going to have to allow some other facial treatments soon. I could understand it if it was a blanket ban on any facial procedures, but I cannot fathom why beards are allowed (when the face definitely cannot be covered) but other treatments are not. What so special about beards?

@steppemum

churches.

We would love ot meet again on a Sunday, but we can't and when we do, we won't be allowed to sing! (which is kind of an essential part of the service)

Churches are allowed to open and hold services: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-places-of-worship-during-the-pandemic-from-4-july/covid-19-guidance-for-the-safe-use-of-places-of-worship-during-the-pandemic-from-4-july

My church is having more Masses than in pre-COVID times, and each household is able to book a place at one Mass per week, to allow everyone who wants to, to attend. There is no singing, which is disappointing, but we can at least worship and pray together, albeit in smaller numbers than usual.

Exhibitions and conferences! Both DH and I work for a contractor. Highly unlikely we will have jobs to go back to. Would be great to have an idea of when they might be allowed again but it's like saying how long is a piece of string!

CathyandHeathcliff · 09/07/2020 21:07

Soft play centres
Playgroups

I’m waiting for my face to face mental health peer support groups to start again.

Mumtumwobble · 09/07/2020 21:54

Just heard that dd dance school is allowed to open again on 25th July. I can understand soft play still being closed. I’m not keen at the best time of times. But don’t see why exhibitions can’t go ahead with reduced numbers and social distancing etc. @baldisbeautiful I hope you get some good news soon. It’s such a worrying time for so many.

Qasd · 09/07/2020 22:07

Lots of places that could open are not so we cannot go to the cinema for example, lots of play parks are still shut, as are museums and of course schools are shut and office workers working from home. I know for some people this is normal but for others of us with two kids at home full time With no school or extra curricular stuff and while working from home too it’s so far from normal I cannot explain!! I promise you social distancing is alive and well in my world and there is not a lot that is different fro March..other than we have met a few friends in the park and my son now has tennis lessons.

ParadiseLaundry · 09/07/2020 22:08

Definitely soft play, trampoline centres and playgroups.

And still there are no open air playgrounds open near up Angry

Mine doesn't put her face near mine when waxing my brows, and it only takes a few minutes. Shock
youhave4substitutes · 09/07/2020 22:11

@Pertella you must not be sporting the ridiculous brows I am then 🤣

Although I fail to see how she doesn't put her face less than a metre away from yours. How long are her arms?!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 09/07/2020 22:18

No eyelashes then 🙁

Pixxie7 · 09/07/2020 22:31

Care home visiting and child care in general both big ones I guess.

iffymiffy · 09/07/2020 22:35

Comedy clubs
Theatres for anything indoor
Live music venues ditto

MarcelineMissouri · 09/07/2020 22:37

And just because things are allowed to open doesn’t mean it’s viable for them to do so.
Cinemas for example - able to open from 4th July but hardly any have, mainly because there are no new films out until at least August (and those release dates may well change seeing as cinemas in America are unlikely to be opening anytime soon) and they just will not make enough money showing old films that people can already watch at home. Lack of new releases is going to be a serious problem for cinemas worldwide.

Heatherjayne1972 · 09/07/2020 22:38

Dentists have been able to open since 8th June
If we’re allowed to get inside a mouth why on earth can’t you have your eyebrows waxed??
That’s crazy I’m sure the beauticians can wear level one ppe like we do

Itsallthedramamick · 09/07/2020 22:48

Beauty places may be reopening but you won't be getting your brows or lashes done. No facial treatments are permitted 😩

forestsmurf · 09/07/2020 22:49

NHS dentistry is emergency and pain only and with very high ppe levels and cross infection controls. Routine dentistry for nhs is still not fully reopened, so can fully understand why facial treatments for beauticians are out of the questions still.

OldQueen1969 · 09/07/2020 22:53

Okay so if beauty salons can't give facial treatments does anyone know officially where body piercers stand? Have googled but can't find anything. Asking because DP is a piercer and has been climbing the walls and was so relieved at todays news. However, of he can't do anything above the neck that will obviously be awkward. I have suggested using the world smallest cross bow but sadly we are now beyond humour.......

forestsmurf · 09/07/2020 22:56

Old queen, my local piercer said she was requiring everyone to wear a mask on no mouth or nose piercing. Not sure if that's her rules or regulations though.

namechange30000 · 09/07/2020 22:56

Proper dental treatment still to come

OldQueen1969 · 09/07/2020 22:59

@forestsmurf Thank you x Need to find out rules versus guidelines..... if it's a false start think DP might just go postal......
