Nothing much different here. I did go into my first local shop to buy a birthday gift for my dsis. It felt very strange to be in a shop.
Other than that I went to the supermarket and did my Saturday chores at home.

Nothing much different for me really. I'm a single parent of a 7 year old so pubs are out the question, I'm still on furlough so can't afford to go out for a meal right now. Weather was shit today so couldn't really do much outdoors.

KaptainKaveman · 04/07/2020 22:16

We ( me, Dh and 2 x teenage dds) have just strolled home from a meal out in one of the local restaurants. Great to be out, tables quite well spaced apart and plenty of hand sanitizer on offer. Really nice to be out plus supporting the local economy.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 04/07/2020 22:16

Still locked down in lurgy Leicester. Went to the supermarket this morning, spent time playing with DD then did a facemask and watched a film with DH.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/07/2020 22:16

We went for a walk to a local pub for an outside lunch. It was lovely. It felt very well organised, rules were clearly explained, but it didn't feel too odd. It felt very safe and apart from needing the loo which was one in, one out, there was no indoor necessary and our waiter kept a good distance.

It felt so good :) I wouldn't go for an indoors meal yet and avoiding the evening seemed sensible.

GlomOfNit · 04/07/2020 22:17

I admit I went into our little local market town to see if it felt different ... and it did. The town had almost a carnival buzz after feeling like a wet Sunday afternoon for months. Our small indy shops have mostly been open since they were allowed to be, but there was more foot traffic for them today. Cafes, likewise, have been doing takeaway coffees but it felt almost dizzying looking into a favourite cafe and seeing people! inside! sitting down with friends! I didn't go in though - too soon, though god knows I'm desperate to. I bought a takeaway coffee through a window and took it to a damp park to drink. Grin

There were a lot of people sitting outside one of the large bars looking happy, and it's hard to be cross about that. I do think that pubs and cafes open, while schools are still closed to most children, is arse-about-tit though.

Titsywoo · 04/07/2020 22:18

Just got home from going out to dinner. It was really nice although the restaurant was so socially distant it felt pretty much empty even though it was full! Drove through lots of places on the way home and only saw 2 pubs open out of about 15 so most aren't opening yet (lots of these were big pubs so I'm sure they could have).

AgeLikeWine · 04/07/2020 22:18

I’m in Leicestershire, but a few miles outside the plague zone, so I’m still being ultra-cautious.

I walked to the bakery in the village this morning. Didn’t go anywhere near any pubs, cafes, restaurants or other shops. Watched Derby v Forest football then F1 qualifying, then took a long socially distanced walk, then DP cooked a delicious Thai curry for dinner.

PurpleDaisies · 04/07/2020 22:19

Nothing different here. While out for a walk, went past the local which was packed out with no social distancing. That wasn’t good.

Whattodo121 · 04/07/2020 22:19

Dh working nights so DS and I had a quiet day. Went for a run with DS on his bike cheering me on, watched a film, played with Lego. I’ve made cinnamon rolls to take to my dad’s house tomorrow. Popped to little Tesco and picked up fresh pasta and garlic bread for dinner. Went for another walk in the rain! Nothing much at all here tbh.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 04/07/2020 22:22

Same as any other day. Little trip to M&S for some food, day crocheting and a zoom family quiz.

We have been out for a couple of Takeaway meals recently that we have eaten on the beach but weather has been awful today.

No plans for restaurant meals any time soon. Doesn't feel quite safe to me yet. Will wait to see what happens over the next few weeks.

We live by the sea so can support local cafes and eat outside on the seafront if the weather is nice.

SisterVanHelsing · 04/07/2020 22:22

Tried to book a hair appointment but apparently they aren't open till tomorrow.

Went to Ikea to finally choose furniture for dd2's room redo (originally planned for Easter hols and postponed). Long queue to get in, but very calm and well organised once inside. Wore face mask but had to take it off in the marketplace bit because my face was SO sweaty.

Came home again. Roads free and easy both directions - coastal SW, so found this quite surprising. The campsites and caravan parks we passed had only a handful of tents/vans.

Lurkingforawhile · 04/07/2020 22:24

Housework, and a localish walk. We did drive past the pubs and they looked quiet. I think the weather made a big difference. If it has been hot and dry the gardens would have been heaving.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 04/07/2020 22:26

Was in work today as usual. Welsh borders here (as in our local supermarket is in England), and it’s been getting a lot busier here over the last 2 weeks, as no one seems to know A) Yes, we’re in Wales and B) Rules are different here.

Many, many people passing through, especially the weekends, on the way to visit relatives etc. Very pleased to be out, and acting as if everything is back to normal.

Today... dead quiet. Back to how it was 6 weeks ago. Can only assume everyone was at the nearest English pub!! Although even the main road was quiet. Totally the opposite to what we expected 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pleasance · 04/07/2020 22:27

Stayed at home. DH is still isolating, I'm not prepared to take any risks.

Nofunkingworriesmate · 04/07/2020 22:28

Went to pub at 4 o'clock got in table service 2 rounds
Fight nearly broke out with table of lads who had drink countless pints and were staggeringly drunk probably been drinking hard since opening
Walked home and saw Barbara and hairdressers all full
Enforcement officers out checking with clipboards
All following guidelines as far as I could see
Lovely to see people's business up and running

Can't say it was much different to what has become normal. Dp went to a brewery shop for supplies and B&M for some home supplies. I worked all day. We went for a run with ds on his bike and then cooked tea together with a few drinks.
We've got a table booked at a favourite local restaurant tomorrow.

girlicorne · 04/07/2020 22:37

We have been at a theme park, staying over so a meal and drinks in the hotel bar afterwards, it has been brilliant, back to doing what we love and it has been managed very, very well. Low capacity, distanced queues, regular ride cleaning and temperature checks on arrival. Today has been the best!!!

Worstemailever · 04/07/2020 22:45

@Candyfloss99

Hope that you feel better soon. Were you able to trace the cause?

GiraffesAreBeautiful · 04/07/2020 22:52

Kids went fishing with dad and brought picnic. They had hoped to have lunch in a cafe or pub but just don’t get that there will be queues! Glad of picnic.

I made pizza dough before changing beds and cleaning bathroom. Shopped local for fresh toppings and home to hear how many “got away”. Watched news. Glad for all the over 60s who’ve hogged all the hair appointments, trimmed DH hair on the patio (forecast for wind tonight so no hair hoovering needed). My hairdresser texted 2 weeks ago about letting me know when I can book, I haven’t heard from them since. I don’t chase people who need my money. Tomorrow I will wash my hair and straighten to allow me to trim fringe.

Pizza was delicious and FIL will get his tomorrow when DH visits. Endured YouTube dinosaur shows while cooking pizzas and willed an asteroid to restrike the planet.

Left DH to tidy the fcuking cables trailing through the living room when he decided we needed a home cinema experience. DH fell asleep. I hid the beers I bought to drink with pizza. He’ll thank me later. Probably not but he did fcuk up my tidy room.

Feck all on the telly tonight. Kindle charged and bedroom activities will be all about the current murder case I’m reading.

Night night x

heard from my 23 yr old son a little earlier - he's out for a drink in town with a few friends (medium size market town in the shires). Reckons it's no more than 50% as busy a normal saturday night.

MotherMorph · 04/07/2020 22:54

Nowhere near as exciting as super saturday at the 2012 olympics....

BrandyandBabycham · 04/07/2020 22:56

No different to usual. I thought Tescos would be packed with tourists ( live in Cornwall) but there were only about 5 people in the queue. I’m working at The Range tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how busy it gets.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/07/2020 22:58

Scotland, so no different here. It has pissed rain most of the day, and feels more like March than July.

DP dud bring me a sausage sandwich in bed. With ketchup.

Gottheteeshirtandlostit · 04/07/2020 23:04

Scotland. No change here.
