@CornishYarg

Just seen Zoe app is saying 1445 daily cases today. Think it was saying around 2400 yesterday?
How does the Zoe app get its figures? are they confirmed positives who have been tested or is it counting the people reporting symptoms, like my blocked nose, which I know is an allergy, will I be included in the numbers?
Bol87 · 02/07/2020 20:15

The Zoe app sends anyone reporting any symptoms of anything for a test! It’s part of their research to rule out certain symptoms.

whatsnext2 · 02/07/2020 20:16

Tim Spector tweeted saying app had picked up Leicester on 17th June and to watch out Wolverhampton and Dudley.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 02/07/2020 20:17

Or a more calculated figure based on what they have learnt so far about the fraction of people with symptoms likely to have Covid rather than hay fever?

Yes I agree, I was confused to be told to have a test when my only symptom was a blocked nose. My DSis was told to get tested as she reported feeling tired, she was negative, My DD was tested last week as had a temperature and sore throat, she was also negative (she works in a nursery and 4 children were sent home unwell the previous week so she probably caught her cold then) Should I get a test for just a blocked nose though? I mean is there any repercussions for those that ignore the Zoe app request?

Is he? Interesting - the Covid-Zoe online map shows Leicester the same colour as the vast majority of the country, which surely isn't right. Wolverhampton is a shade darker, though their rates per 100,000 from PHE have actually gone down this week!
cantkeepawayforever · 02/07/2020 20:32

Am I right in thinking that data has not been released today?

yep , still waiting for the numbers
itsgettingweird · 02/07/2020 20:41

Grrrr - also came back here to check.

Surely they have death rate regardless if they've had a problem with pillar positives.

But I've always have an email that breaks down number of tests in pillar 1-4. Results for each pillar and for pillar 2 it even says how many processed and how many sent out.

Well they say no news is good news, here is hoping. Maybe there is zero cases and zero deaths today.

I am trying to recall what the reason for the late information was a few weeks ago. I cant remember if the numbers were significantly higher.

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 02/07/2020 20:44

First time here as I’ve been looking for a few hours for the daily death rate and nothing. Figured it would be discussed on mumsnet - guessing it’s still not out?

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 02/07/2020 20:53

Came here to check too. Wonder why it is so late?

Char2015 · 02/07/2020 20:56

Should we be concerned? Are they hiding something?

mum2jakie · 02/07/2020 21:00

Came here for the figure too. They have announced Boris holding a press conference tomorrow evening? Wonder if numbers have gone up??

MillicentMartha · 02/07/2020 21:00

The England hospital stats are out as usual, 35 deaths on those.

cathyandclare · 02/07/2020 21:01

We know it's low in hospital settings and NI/W/Scotland because the figures have been released. Any high figure would be because of the care home stats. There have always days when they add in extra cases, they haven't held the stats up to this extent before.

tobee · 02/07/2020 21:02

Evening Standard saying hospital 44 deaths I think ?

Firefliess · 02/07/2020 21:03

@jenasaurus I think the Zoe app asks people with a wide range of symptoms to get a test and then extrapolates from that to estimate total numbers with Covid. By testing only those with symptoms, it's much more efficient than it is to test 25,000 random people to find only 12 testing positive, as the ONS are doing (though they do of course pick up people who are completely asymptomatic, which the Zoe app approach won't) So you might help their research if you do the test - they might learn which symptoms best distinguish mild Covid from hay fever, or what proportion of people with hay fever like symptoms have actually got Covid.

tobee · 02/07/2020 21:03

In uk that is?

Char2015 · 02/07/2020 21:04

Another press conference. Does that mean bad news is on it's way? Or is it to give us a talk before the even wider opening on Sat? I think something is brewing.
AnyFucker · 02/07/2020 21:04

.

hopefulhalf · 02/07/2020 21:08

summat's up

Firefliess · 02/07/2020 21:09

I think Boris might be going to announce new legislation or powers to local authorities to deal with local outbreaks - it's been apparent from Leicester that they've lacked the legal framework for a local lockdown. And possibly more powers to the police to quickly close any pubs that get out of hand. And yes, to tell us all to behave ourselves in pubs. I don't think it's likely there would be any sudden dramatic upturn in cases in one day, so doubt that's why they're late. Most likely some technical or quality check issue.

hopefulhalf · 02/07/2020 21:10

No pubs on saturday ? or more likely outside only given the situation in the USA. Scientist from SAGE on pm said he thought opening them was likely to lead to an America type situation. Which let's face it would be terrible PR.

JimMaxwellantheshippingforcast · 02/07/2020 21:12

There were a few days when France didn't report either
