What little thing is getting you through this?

Little things matter at a time when nothing is normal. What little thing brightens your day and is getting you through this?

Maybe your 'little thing' will be a fantastic new idea for someone else and we can all be cheered up a bit.

@devildeepbluesea very impressive! I think I need some more pairs

BoysRule · 13/06/2020 08:30

My 8 month old puppy, walking him in the stunning country side has been so uplifting.

Home schooling my 7 year old son. I'm a primary school teacher and I love working 1:1 with him and seeing him learning.

Spending so much time as a family - family dinners together every night. Walks together, chats together. Eldest goes to secondary school in September and I feel like I'll see less of him soon.

Gin.

Learning to sew clothes for my toddler, a break from work (which was making me very unhappy), walks in the park with the toddler, the fact that he has finally started walking, losing weight (not a boast, I realised four weeks in I needed to get a grip because I'd end up weighing over 100kgs otherwise). And.... Being newly pregnant🙃

Ice cream/treat deliveries from a fabulous local ice cream maker. If you're on Tyneside I can't recommend them enough. The white chocolate flake ice cream is the actual tits.

@oysterbabe I bought a Nintendo switch and animal crossing for my DDs birthday at her request.... She's a 22 year old graduate in her first " proper" job so you aren't alone!

My children
Routine
Nice fresh healthy food
Online work outs every day

Even though they drive me barmy - I cant imagine how shit my life would be if I didn’t have the children with me. Single parent.

Congratulations, letmegetthisrightasawoman.

For me:

The 50 book thread on here. I love everyone who posts there and it’s been an oasis of sanity.
Podcasts - Astronomy Cast and In Our Time, mainly.
My hammock
Crochet - I could crochet but I have learned new stitches with the Seaside Stash Buster blanket and am really enjoying it.
Learning Spanish on Duolingo
DS making me a cup of tea every night
Watching Glow Up and Sewing Bee with DD.
Waitrose Rapid
My sister sending daily photos of my new nephew. They live in NZ and I don’t know when I will get to meet him but I love the updates
A new pillow with a silk pillow case
The quiet outside, and the lack of planes overhead
Coffee each morning in my new silver mug, sitting in the garden before work

I’ve had what should be a lovely time. But I’m miserable and really want things to go back to normal in all their messy, imperfect, hectic glory.

BrowncoatWaffles · 13/06/2020 19:04

Having sneaky shenanigans with DH every day while the DC are downstairs eating breakfast. It’s the most we’ve had since we’ve had DC.

Yoga at home every day.

Good coffee.

@devildeepbluesea
I bought these from my friend today!

What little thing is getting you through this?
devildeepbluesea · 13/06/2020 19:39

@RedLipsAndRosyCheeks lovely!! I have Fireworks in full length, they always make me happy!

DS who is my WFH colleague
My garden complete with new table and chairs

RaggieDolls · 14/06/2020 09:43

Our lovely Indian takeaway reopened at the start of May. Every Friday we have dinner in front of a film and don't have to cook and clear up. For those few hours life feels normal.

Thismummyruns · 14/06/2020 09:57

Bedtime 🙈

GlomOfNit · 14/06/2020 14:09

My allotment even though I'm fairly crap at it, being able to sit (possibly illegally) outside a local indy cafe on tables ('that just happen to live outside, nothing to do with us' ahem) outside by a boating lake and enjoy excellent locally roasted coffee, and going to PYO farms now they have started the season.

Also DS2 going back to school twice a week. Grin

GlomOfNit · 14/06/2020 14:10

AT tables, not ON them. Am not a cabaret act or more than usually uncouth. Grin

Jedstre · 14/06/2020 14:46

@QuornHub thanks for mentioning Beckleberrys. I’ve ordered one of the Father’s Day afternoon teas.

QuornHub · 14/06/2020 16:49

@Jedstre we had the VE day ones and they were fab!

Firef1y72 · 14/06/2020 17:52

My PT
She kept me sane during the strictest lockdown with Zoom sessions. Gave me the virtual kick up the bum I needed when I refused to go out and run.
And then as soon as we were allowed face to face again booked me in.
Plus she kept classes going online and now we're allowed real live classes (albeit with very limited numbers), she's steadily increased the number of those she's doing a week (along with recording them and putting them online)

timtam23 · 14/06/2020 18:43

Virtual choir once a week. The choir leader is always so enthusiastic, it lifts my mood every time.
Watching the birds on my bird feeders.
Seeing goldfinches for the first time in my usually urban, pigeon-and-magpie area

This is us. An american TV series on Amazon Prime. There's 4 seasons so it has been enough to keep me going on an evening when I'd usually be at the gym or running club. I've nearly finished it now so going to start on something else soon. It really has been brilliant.

I'm a Tikiboo lover, but also have a couple of Sturdy's. Not a fan of LLL mainly as I dont like the way the owner can be at times. I have at least 10 pairs of full length and another 10 pairs of capris.
