What little thing is getting you through this?

Little things matter at a time when nothing is normal. What little thing brightens your day and is getting you through this?

Maybe your 'little thing' will be a fantastic new idea for someone else and we can all be cheered up a bit.

Crap Netflix documentaries, my bonkers new rescue dog, and near-constant swearing.

LBB2020 · 12/06/2020 18:26

My DS, he’s almost 3 and has additional needs. He’s come on so much during lockdown and I’m so glad I’ve not missed any of it

WhiteChocTwix · 12/06/2020 18:27

I'm finally dealing with the last of our moving boxes after 3 years 😳

ChavvySexPond · 12/06/2020 18:29

Knowing that what we do we do for the good of everyone in this country.

And the improved air quality.

I may find it hard, but it's a good thing we are doing.

That's what gets me through.

DidSheReallySayThat20 · 12/06/2020 18:32

Dh being off and getting to see baby ds first few months properly.
Getting decorated and organised as didn't have chmace since moving then new baby.

Lostinbooksandcoffee · 12/06/2020 18:35

Some nice red wine. I have a small glass with dinner most days but it's enough to enjoy and help me relax.

And reading. I'm carving out time every day to read, even if it's just a chapter before bed.

No commute
Leggings 😬
Gin

devildeepbluesea · 12/06/2020 18:38

The chance to exercise more. I've rehabilitated my back to the point where I can once again manage 6km without stopping, albeit slowly.
I've started teaching exercise classes to my friends via zoom (I am qualified, just not often used it before).
I've bought myself a bike which I was sceptical about but I love it!
I'm doing Less Mills Online every other day.

Also

Wine
Vodka
Chocolate

devildeepbluesea · 12/06/2020 18:39

@ivegotthisyeah ooh yeah leggings too. Are you a fan of any particular brand?
I'm a Sturdy Girl.
[Now wondering if you actually mean wearing leggings instead of jeans, rather than bulk buying beautiful active wear]

LaneBoy · 12/06/2020 18:43

An unexpected new friendship. I was doing a course before lockdown and one of the leaders rang me about the last one being cancelled, we ended up texting a bit and since then we’ve chatted loads, by text and phone, about anything and everything. I’ll actually be a bit sad when lockdown is over as I think it’ll be harder to maintain when she’s not WFH if that makes sense. But either way it’s been really nice!

ivegotthisyeah · 12/06/2020 18:44

@devildeepbluesea I am not normally a leggings person but I own one cheap pair possibly primark that I dug out and now love in with whilst working from home 😆 also I've eaten and drink that much my jeans are tight 🤣🤣

devildeepbluesea · 12/06/2020 18:46

@ivegotthisyeah Grin I know that feeling.

I was always a black leggings only kind of girl but Sturdy By Design leggings have brightened my world since lockdown started. I don't work for them!

ivegotthisyeah · 12/06/2020 18:48

@devildeepbluesea you've tempted me to investigate 😬😆

Legoandloldolls · 12/06/2020 18:50

FrugiFan · 12/06/2020 18:51

I have some plans next week! Nothing particularly thrilling in normal times- socially distanced walks with friends, visiting my mums garden, taking DD to the now open national trust garden. We also have a camping trip in the diary for July. Its just nice to have some things, however small, to look forward to.

Drivingdownthe101 · 12/06/2020 18:51

Radio 3's morning programming keeps me generally sane and gives me something to get out of bed for on my worst days.

I like Hassled's Italian webcam idea too. I've been following a lot of Italian accounts on instagram. The situation in Venice has been particularly fascinating to watch.

TwilightPeace · 12/06/2020 18:55

Nice food everyday.
Fresh air.
Getting to know my neighbours (only moved in at end of last year).
My Saturday night takeaway, bit of normality.
Going to work. Nice colleagues, change of scenery and adult conversation (single parent). Breaks the week up a bit too.
Sorting my house out.
Nice bubble baths before bed.
Sitting daydreaming about when things will be a bit more normal ie kids back at school, weekend breaks away, days out, and nights out with friend. These little daydreams give me hope!

BeltaneBride · 12/06/2020 18:56

My garden. Never appreciated it much before but am spending a fortune on bird feed and saint lots of fledglings -bluetits, blackbirds, even Woodpeckers. Loving the cacophony.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 12/06/2020 18:58
