Will you be heading to the shops on 15th June?

I am at mid risk of complications due to Covid. Obese and BAME. So even with a mask I think I would be so anxious going to the shops. We also have a high death rate in our area. I'm not sure of the infection level.

Will you be returning to the shops? I worry about toilets and sanitary levels too.

I'll give it a week or so.. I'm quite intrigued to see whether chaos ensues in the large out of town malls as one queue melds into another.

According to the ons, 1 in 1700 people has the virus in the two week period up to 7th June, so it seems very low risk now and probably the safest time to go, should cases increase again with the latest round of changes ( I don't think they will)

I can't say it feels like it would be a very relaxing activity with the queuing and morris dancing around each other, but I would like to support the high street.

PinkMonkeyBird · 12/06/2020 11:15

Nope

Nosuchluck · 12/06/2020 11:46

I'm going next week, I can't wait to go. I need so much stuff, particularly shoes.

Lumene · 12/06/2020 11:52

No I will buy online.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 12/06/2020 11:56

@fussychica

No because they'll be no pleasure in it. If I need something specific that I can't get on line then possibly. I don't want to queue, not be able to shop with my partner or a friend, not be able to browse and have to follow a prescribed route arround a shop. Supermarket shopping if unpleasant enough without shopping for non essentials. No thanks.
This mainly

And the lack of toilets

moita · 12/06/2020 13:01

No. I've got two young children so queuing etc woukd be hard work. I'll stick to online other than kids shoes!

FluffyKittensinabasket · 12/06/2020 13:02

If the cafes were open for dining in, I would go out for coffee and brunch.

userxx · 12/06/2020 13:04

Please do, my friend has a cafe and she's scared shitless about the future.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 12/06/2020 13:04

Nope

NiknicK · 12/06/2020 13:05

No, I have no interest at all in racing to the shops being surrounded by anyone and everyone having to queue to get in and not being able to try clothes on. Couldn’t think if anything worse.

Scruffbob · 12/06/2020 13:07

No I'm pig sick of having to endlessly queue.

I would go to a cafe though.

TheGreatWave · 12/06/2020 14:06

I can't buy everything I want online, or it is out of stock, or postage charges outweigh the cost of the item significantly.

I will pop to my local shops tomorrow (the blinds shop is open and I think I want a new one) but then leave it for a few weeks.

MrsCollinssettled · 12/06/2020 14:19

Definitely not. I've realised how much I spent on non-essentials and I don't want to go back to old ways.

If I needed something I don't think I'd be that impressed to queue in order to get in whilst people were just browsing. Don't suppose the shops will be thrilled with bored people browsing either. It's very much get in, grab what you want and get out as quickly as possible.

1981m · 12/06/2020 14:21

No I won't unless I am going for something specific and need it quickly. I don't see the point of going clothes shopping as you can't try it on and they have to monitor everything you touch.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 12/06/2020 14:34

I need some birthday cards and some socks, so I might. Don't want to pay huge delivery charges for a couple of little things!

I go to my local M&S Simply Food for food shopping and have never had to queue. So if there's a long queue for other shops I won't bother.

Nosuchluck · 12/06/2020 14:39

I haven't queued yet either.

starfish4 · 12/06/2020 14:44

As much as I enjoy a potter around town and spending money Grin, no. I'm not a patient person and a quick decisive shopper, so I'd hate the queuing and waiting for people to make their decisions. Other issue are lack of toilets and people not even doing 1m social distancing.

Luckily we have a few small shops in our village, which I have to walk through most days, so I'l pick my moment to go in those. Feel bad, as I really want to support the town centre.

BeijingBikini · 12/06/2020 15:20

Are toilets really all shut? In my town and 3 others I've driven to, they've all been open. Also coffee shops have been open for weeks, everyone in my town has been getting coffee and sitting on the grass. It was pretty much back to normal today.

lurker101 · 12/06/2020 15:25

Yes on 15 or 16th to show my support to the local shops. It’s heartbreaking seeing them closed for three months and re-opening to sell stock at a reduced price. I will be there and buying something to give them hope

SkyesBackPack · 12/06/2020 15:34

Nope. I would love to but I expect it would be stressful.

I have a list of things I really need from Primark. If I get those bits in the supermarket I cross them off. Have the fun of Primark is browsing for random tat.

If you could browse maybe and the queues moved fast I will leave until then.

We have got most of things we need from supermarkets. Plus don’t need uniform or holiday outfits so I suspect I don’t NEED the shops until next year now

Bluewavescrashing · 12/06/2020 15:39

Not until cafes are open and I can browse and mooch properly. Not a relaxing experience otherwise.

HoldMyLobster · 12/06/2020 15:50

If I was in the UK I doubt I would go unless masks were mandatory.

Shops have been open here for nearly 2 weeks. I have been, did not queue, was allowed to handle clothes, and the toilets were open - I'm not a big shopper usually but it was nice to go and browse, and I bought more than I expected.

Infection rates are continuing to fall here despite shops, hairdressers etc having reopened - I'm sure wearing masks has helped.

Parker231 · 12/06/2020 16:26

I can’t see the point - queuing outside, limited numbers in the shops, one way system, floor markings where to stand, no touching or browsing.

Legoandloldolls · 12/06/2020 16:34

Our nearest shopping centre said they would release details before the opened on the new system.

Teo days to go and no info yet. Makes me feel like theres no plan and Monday will be caous!

Divoc2020 · 12/06/2020 16:36

No, probably not.

I don't need to buy anything that I can't get online and there will be no mooching and having a coffee, so what's the point?
