Will you be heading to the shops on 15th June?

I am at mid risk of complications due to Covid. Obese and BAME. So even with a mask I think I would be so anxious going to the shops. We also have a high death rate in our area. I'm not sure of the infection level.

Will you be returning to the shops? I worry about toilets and sanitary levels too.

Not on 15th but i could do with going to card factory soon and stocking up. Cost me a fortune in cards from Sainsburys recently!

NatalieH2220 · 12/06/2020 08:06

No, I've not been to a shop since before lockdown and don't see that changing in the near future.

PopsicleHustler · 12/06/2020 08:17

I am in desperate need of leggings and trainers/pumps. But will hold off for another month. And only will go in. Kids can wait in the car with snacks, aircon, kidstube on while I rush round

TimeWastingButFun · 12/06/2020 08:19

Not much if any. Even before covid I was mostly using amazon and other online suppliers. Very used to it now!

userxx · 12/06/2020 08:21

I will be supporting my local independent shops as much as possible. Don't particularly need anything but I'm sure I'll find something!

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 12/06/2020 08:29

Yes! Counting down the days until I can get into hobbycraft!

Imissmoominmama · 12/06/2020 08:32

Our small High Street needs our business, and the shop owners have had a zoom meeting to decide on a cohesive policy to keep everyone safe.

I won’t be going any further, although tbh, I never really did.

Passthecake30 · 12/06/2020 08:33

Like a pp, I’ll be going to card factory and that’s it. We all have plenty of clothes/shoes etc. If the kids have a growth spurt... that’s another matter!

sociallydistained · 12/06/2020 08:41

I'm a stones throw from town so will walk in and get a coffee on Monday I think... assuming most of the coffee places will be open and go and sit somewhere with it... a bit of normality! Sort of. I'll assess the shop situation whilst there and if it looks okay I may pop in some which are open ... I'll have a toddler in a buggy though so I'm conscious about that and the room we'll have with restrictions so I'll see.

IndieRo · 12/06/2020 08:47

No, sick of queuing for essential items so not queuing for non essentials.

Montysmam1 · 12/06/2020 08:51

Nope, Supermarket Shopping is stressful enough, but essential, once a week. If there's anything we need that's not in the supermarket I'll order online!

Zenithbear · 12/06/2020 08:56

Not for a few days after. During lockdown I have discovered the wonder and ease of online shopping and will continue buying local for everything else. Shopping centres bore me to death I hardly ever went anyway. I'm so looking forward to all the local businesses opening though - little non essential shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, gym, swimming pool etc etc

1dayatatime · 12/06/2020 09:34

Currently focusing on some level of education for my children, whether DP or I still have a job and the mental health of my family. So recreational shopping and the prospect of standing in queues and one way systems in shops is not exactly a priority right now.

Meruem · 12/06/2020 09:39

No. Not because I'm at risk but for several other reasons. For a start I won't be going anywhere until toilets reopen. I have IBS and it just isn't feasible for me to go somewhere without access to a loo. Additionally all the queuing/one way systems don't appeal. And of course the longer the queue the more I will probably need a toilet! Can't stop anywhere for a coffee and a break. Shopping will be functional rather than enjoyable. So I will carry on shopping online for the foreseeable.

Tiktokcringeydance · 12/06/2020 09:43

my teen is desperate to go to primark!
she really needs some summer clothes and while I can get most online, primark is appealing when you're on a minimal income....but not sure if I'm ready to go there just yet.

whatisforteamum · 12/06/2020 10:01

Probably one shop in my town.I have spotted a lovely dress by the window and it is half price.I do love online shopping but can't beat checking the length for real.
I probably won't actual visit shops much now anyway.I used to love the escapism when the dc were small. Now it just looks like hard work.
I will be excited to grab a coffee at the garden centre outside.Where I live 2 local ones have spent a fortune extending their cafes and as family fun places my heart goes out to them.

mamaduckbone · 12/06/2020 10:05

I will try and support some of our local
Independents as they open - without people using them they won't survive. However, I don't have any urge to go queuing for Ikea/Primark/any high street shop in the near future.

Sweetlikecoca · 12/06/2020 10:07

No. Because I can order online and if you can’t try anything there not much point. I am interested on how busy the shops will be though.

woodhill · 12/06/2020 10:10

It will be difficult in charity shops because everyone tends to browse

notacooldad · 12/06/2020 10:12

No,I dont need a thing.
I bought some new cushions from Wilko last week a d a couple of new nighties from M and S mid week so I have everything I need

Oldsu · 12/06/2020 10:24

southeastdweller a lot of the high street Charity shops will not be opening on 15th, but will open in phases My DH runs 2 and hasn't even been given a date for either of his shops although he now knows it wont be until at least mid July otherwise he would have been told by now, judging by the fb page for charity shop managers he is on all the big ones, Sue Ryder, Salvation Army, BHF etc are only opening the larger stores and donation warehouses on 15th

Dickorydockwhatthe · 12/06/2020 10:27

It takes me days to psych myself up to go to the supermarket!!

minipie · 12/06/2020 10:36

Yes. I am in no way high risk and want to support the local shops. Our local high street is likely to be decimated after this.

Having said that, I’m unlikely to bother queuing for a non essential purchase especially as I’m also home schooling.

Celan · 12/06/2020 10:52

@BeijingBikini I'll be joining you in the TK Maxx queue. I can't buy anything, but I'll enjoy looking Grin.

YgritteSnow · 12/06/2020 11:06

No. It's not necessary. I can get everything we need on line and will continue to do so.
