Will you be heading to the shops on 15th June?

I am at mid risk of complications due to Covid. Obese and BAME. So even with a mask I think I would be so anxious going to the shops. We also have a high death rate in our area. I'm not sure of the infection level.

Will you be returning to the shops? I worry about toilets and sanitary levels too.

Yes, but not straight away and not till I need to.

And not because I'm concerned about the virus, as that doesnt remotely bother me. But because I hate queues! This is also the reason I never go shopping on a saturday or Black Friday and internet shop as much as possible at xmas.

But I do need to venture into ikea at some stage this month, probably towards the end though.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 11/06/2020 18:08

Not the day they open. But maybe the week after.

Worstyear2020 · 11/06/2020 18:10

Definitely not, can't believe i spent so much money on non essentials before!

MrsApplepants · 11/06/2020 18:11

Yes as I believe the risk to me to be minimal. As I have all along. I will wear a mask out of respect for others though and keep my distance as far as possible.

Weepinggreenwillow · 11/06/2020 18:12

no. But not because of any imaginary risks. I never went to the shops anyway, bloody hate shopping. I have pretty much ordered everything online for years!
Teenage dc will probably go and I am more than happy for them to do this. (although I imagine they will be dissappointed by the reality of the experience when they get there!)

Pipandmum · 11/06/2020 18:12

I only shop locally if I specifically need something. Can't see any urgent need for anything warranting a trip out. I'm keener for cafes to open up - I miss my latte and croissant with the girls!

Nquartz · 11/06/2020 18:13

Not regularly & not many. Have a voucher for Halford's which can't be used online so I'll go there to spend it then back to food shopping only.

I'm more looking forward to the rain stopping so we can go to parks

Nickname21 · 11/06/2020 18:14

Not straight away, but I'm itching for a good mooch around the shops, especially charity shops and Primark.

The queuing puts me off more than anything else.

AgeLikeWine · 11/06/2020 18:15

Not a chance. I hate shopping for anything other than food at the best of times, so there is no way I am going near a crowded high street or mall until this nightmare is over.

homemadecommunistrussia · 11/06/2020 18:15

Yes, as long as the queues aren't too bad.
I'm fatish and asthmatic, but need some variety in my life. Local shops also need to make money.

FabulouslyFab · 11/06/2020 18:15

No
Not least because I don’t want to catch the virus but shopping in town is usually a social experience where I go with friends and we have lunch and a couple of cocktails. Otherwise it’s just no fun at all!
So No

diked · 11/06/2020 18:17

not yet but only because there really isn't any need for me and i hate queueing.

Deelish75 · 11/06/2020 18:18

Not on the 15th. I'm not a great fan of shopping at the best of times so I'll probably leave it a couple of weeks.
My local shopping centre has also posted pictures online of one way systems inside the centre so I do feel a bit more prepared going in.

Mrsfussypants1 · 11/06/2020 18:19

No. After all this I realised that I spent alot of days of leisurely having a look at what's new in the shops, enjoying a purchase or two in fenwicks and a nosey in primark followed by a coffee with friends or lunch. I've found a better use of my time and money. Since coronavirus I've found new hobbies, reading, decorating, working out at home, letter writting etc.

Theforest · 11/06/2020 18:19

No. I rarely shopped other than supermarkets before lockdown anyway.

roarfeckingroar · 11/06/2020 18:20

Yes

granadagirl · 11/06/2020 18:22

Would like too, but I’ve had enough of queues that’s done my head in.
I’ll leave it a few weeks, see how it pans out

cologne4711 · 11/06/2020 18:23

Nope but only because I am too impatient to queue, and I don't really need anything anyway. There are a few things I may need in a few weeks time but will use Argos click and collect for those.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 11/06/2020 18:23

Yes (maybe not actually on the day, but it will be ASAP) as DD is growing like a weed & almost nothing still fits her. She's grown about 3 inches since Christmas, I thought they were supposed to slow down a bit in the few years before puberty?

FourTeaFallOut · 11/06/2020 18:24

No. I'm shielding. I'll be sticking with online shopping for the foreseeable. Anyway, it turns out that I don't miss real life shopping at all, I can happily lump it forever.

itsgettingweird · 11/06/2020 18:26

I've already been to Ikea and Homebase.

I did my research online beforehand and went for stuff. No mooching or faffing!

I would visit a shop if I needed something.

For example - I will probably need some t shirts from matalan for summer. I'll look online, decide, enter and purchase!

I think shops and DIY stores etc won't lose business from people needing things because those people will go.

They'll lose revenue from those who browse and make decisions because they can afford to. And this is for 2 reasons. Less spare money for people to 'just buy' with and people won't just go to shops to browse as much as the experience will not be what they want or expect.

PatriciaHolm · 11/06/2020 18:27

My credit card is telling me that lockdown has been good for it and not to take it to a real shop.

Me too!

Also, i think I've realised how much I really don't miss it. I miss a nice coffee and a scone, a trip to the theatre, dinner and drinks out. I don't miss aimlessly wandering in and out of random shops, it turns out!

itsgettingweird · 11/06/2020 18:27

Oh, and I've always been a visit for need and not for browsing anyway. So my experience won't change! Nor will I visit anymore or less than I did before lockdown!

Roselilly36 · 11/06/2020 18:31

No, I am shielded until 30 June. But I wouldn’t be rushing out to shop in any case.

Creas35 · 11/06/2020 18:31

@MrsR87 the local independent nursery stores are opening up for appointment only so you book an hour slot and can try all prams , nursery bits so might be worth looking at that.
