Will you be heading to the shops on 15th June?

I am at mid risk of complications due to Covid. Obese and BAME. So even with a mask I think I would be so anxious going to the shops. We also have a high death rate in our area. I'm not sure of the infection level.

Will you be returning to the shops? I worry about toilets and sanitary levels too.

Agree @halcyondays There are a few threads running about that on here . As someone with an overactive bladder it is something that i also have to consider.

1forAll74 · 11/06/2020 19:05

No, it would be horrible to get caught up in any crowds of manic shoppers.

480Widdio · 11/06/2020 19:06

No,not until Restaurants are open,so probably not for another month at least.

Love shopping, but the idea of queuing with being shouted at about where to stand etc.puts me off.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 11/06/2020 19:08

no, i hate supermarket shopping, getting petrol.
and i am skint
i do need clothes but hate shopping at the best of times!

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 11/06/2020 19:09

i need a hair cut, and miss charity shopping but am not rushing anywhere.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/06/2020 19:10

Not allowed to try anything on? That makes sense, but seriously, I have a clothes emergency happening. I always run on the bare minimum in my wardrobe and I've had a few clothing casualties recently.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/06/2020 19:11

Not on the first day they open but I probably will a few days after. I want to get a few birthday gifts for people.

megletthesecond · 11/06/2020 19:13

No. I'm not vulnerable.

I'd love to go to Waterstones and Tiger (50% off!) but I'll sit it out for a bit longer.

ButterMeCrumpets · 11/06/2020 19:14

No if it means I have to queue and can't touch things or try on clothes. What's the point in that as I might as well carry on ordering online.

I am waiting for restaurants and pubs to open but again if they impose socially distancing rules that mean misery on the experience I won't bother.

The economy is going to take a massive nose dive unless they reduce the 'rules' that make it impossible for businesses to operate.

feellikeanalien · 11/06/2020 19:18

No. If I go to our local shopping centre (which didn't happen very often even before coronavirus) then I like to take my time and browse, have a coffee and waste hours in Waterstones and HMV.

I find it bad enough having to go to the supermarket at the moment so queuing and going one way through a massive shopping centre (supposedly one of the biggest in Europe) where most of the toilets and eating places are closed is my idea of hell.

I very much doubt I'll be doing anything but essential food shopping for a very long time. I also like to try clothes on before I buy them as online pictures are often very different to the reality.

OntheWaves40 · 11/06/2020 19:19

Yes, I already do. Lots of shops open, range, b&m, boots, Tesco. Plenty of mooching to kill the boredom

Livingoffcoffee · 11/06/2020 19:21

Yes. But only because my DS needs to be measured for his first pair of shoes, as he's started walking since lockdown. So heading to Clark's on Monday.

formerbabe · 11/06/2020 19:23

Yes...I can't fucking wait!

I am desperate to go clothes shopping and my dd wants to go to the toy shops. We are so excited

Givenupno · 11/06/2020 19:26

Gloat post.

I will be going pretty much wherever I like, including pubs and restaurants and with no social distancing because I live on the Isle of Man and we have had no cases for ages so are heading back to normal.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 11/06/2020 19:26

I hate shopping at the best of times but there’s one shop I want to go to at some point soon as I need some new t-shirts and there’s are perfect for me.
I probably won’t go for a bit though as I can make do

pilates · 11/06/2020 19:30

No, I have no desire to. If I need anything I will order online. Once a week for my food shop and that’s all I feel comfortable with atm.

Holothane · 11/06/2020 19:31

No, a nightmare being visually impaired, can’t touch thing get close to things, no toilets be a long time before I shop.

Wiaa · 11/06/2020 19:38

No, I don't have anything I need to get so I won't be doing shopping for the sake of it. I will go if I need something specific but I think for now it's about risk management. Dh has been working throughout and ds4 is back at preschool so I think that's enough risk for us for now. Might do a zoo or safari park in a few weeks as long as the ones near me do prebooking.

moreofthegreenstuff · 11/06/2020 19:40

No. I'll be at work. Even if I wasn't, there's not a chance I'd go and stand in a queue for hours. There's nothing I need that much.

alreadytaken · 11/06/2020 19:41

Probably not. Shopping trips normally involve lunch out and a takeaway wouldnt be as enticing.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 11/06/2020 19:47

No I won't I'm disabled and I'm finding queuing for supermarket and then again to pay too exhausting and painful( I'm not shielding, so no online slots available)
I have well and truly slipped though the net " not old enough not unwell enough"

WanderingMilly · 11/06/2020 19:49

Yes, I will. I want to support the economy and being on my own, I love mooching around shops...I have already been to Garden Centres that have opened and fine with supermarkets.

On the other hand, I will not be dropping my mask and gloves for a long while yet, and I don't intend to use any public loos or eat-drink anything that hasn't been made by myself in my own kitchen.

I don't mind the queues, I think that's going to be a feature for a while but since I'm on furlough and not in a rush to go anywhere, then having to wait for longer doesn't seem to be so onerous really...

TheMurk · 11/06/2020 19:58

I’ve just watched M&S segment on The One Show and...

I think I might be the only one, but...

I’m actually getting really angry about this whole ridiculous over the top nonsense. You’re not allowed to TOUCH THE CLOTHES? What? But in Asda a fat sweaty man can rifle through the bananas to pick the perfect one without so much as a batted eye from the staff? Same man later brushed past me trying to reach something on the shelf I was looking at.

But in M&S any returned clothes are going to be “segregated” And presumably sprayed with chemicals before they’re put back. So the virus lives on clothes and multiplies like gremlins does it? Really, we should all be dead by now, every one of us.

Nuts.

Sick of it.

Mostpeculiar · 11/06/2020 19:58

As someone else said would love to but I’m already sick of queuing outside a supermarket, I took my adult daughter to a retail park to choose new bedding we walked into Matalan saw a nice set but then stupidly said without thinking “shall we have look in Sainsbury’s before deciding” not thinking that we’d queued 5 mins to get into Matalan then another 20 in the rain for
Sainsbury’s, bought the bedding then queued to get into boots for certain toiletries then queued for Superdrug for other toiletries. I ended up getting everything we needed but my god it wasn’t fun, but I do worry about retail staff if we don’t support them

HunterHearstHelmsley · 11/06/2020 20:00

I wanted to but I'm not fannying around queuing to get into the shopping centre then each individual shop.
