Will you be heading to the shops on 15th June?

I am at mid risk of complications due to Covid. Obese and BAME. So even with a mask I think I would be so anxious going to the shops. We also have a high death rate in our area. I'm not sure of the infection level.

Will you be returning to the shops? I worry about toilets and sanitary levels too.

@SpnBaby1967

If queues are putting you off Ikea I would check. Our local one has been surprisingly quiet. I went last Saturday late afternoon - 5 minutes to get in. 10 minutes for rolls (no worse than usual) some stuff removed so more space inside. More pleasant than. usual tbh.

frozendaisy · 11/06/2020 18:31

If I need something that I would prefer to see rather than order online I will. But no plans.

feelingverylazytoday · 11/06/2020 18:37

Yes, if the queues aren't too long. I hate shopping online and I need new shoes, clothes and a few other things.

Toastandjams · 11/06/2020 18:38

Nope as where I live all shops are gone.
Have only few big supermarkets left and that is not important as can shop online.

girlicorne · 11/06/2020 18:39

Not a chance, but I never go shopping anyway I buy everything except food on line. A day out shopping has zero interest for me and our city centre is grim!!

Casino218 · 11/06/2020 18:39

Yes because we can't all stay locked down forever. Retail businesses won't be there at all if we don't shop.

Saladmakesmesad · 11/06/2020 18:40

No. Not this year unless I absolutely can’t do it online like kids’ shoes. Can’t see the appeal.

Figgygal · 11/06/2020 18:40

Nah
Really not in a hurry to return to a consumerist lifestyle I don’t need/want anything
Still on 10% reduced salary too so being careful

wanderings · 11/06/2020 18:41

Maybe local shops, but shopping centres will be a big fat no. Social distancing has sucked the joy out of just about everything now. It's going to be queueing, queueing, queueing, with announcements booming out about it all the time: I mean, do they think we don't know there's a pan dem ic happening? I certainly won't do it in the first week. Thereafter I might, but being extremely selective about the time I go - definitely not at weekends.

HeIenaDove · 11/06/2020 18:44

I dont shop online and need some new trousers. But ive seen that we wont be allowed to try anything on. I dont mind the queueing too much but all the other pratting about? Nah I will give it a miss thanks.

I dont think these shops opening will be the boost to the economy the Government think it will.

ktp100 · 11/06/2020 18:45

Absolutely not.

Langsdestiny · 11/06/2020 18:47

No. Have realised how much easier everything is online. I always did quite a bit online but just do it all now. Its blissful.

jesterback · 11/06/2020 18:50

No, I've not been to the shops at all much since I had my toddler DD as she hates being stuck in the buggy. So I've already got used to just shopping online (which is much better now with more free delivery and returns, and couriers leaving parcels instead of having to wait in for them).

RhinestoneCowgirl · 11/06/2020 18:51

I'm not much of a shopping as a leisure activity person, but I do miss a mooch around a charity shop or secondhand book shop. Unlikely that these shops will be opening next week, so I won't be dashing into town.

crazychemist · 11/06/2020 18:52

I won’t be dashing back immediately, but there are some things that I will look forward to being open - I normally get a lot of DDs books from our local Oxfam, because she loves new books and we’ve been reading a lot while stuck at home. Sure, I can buy them online, but our local Oxfam has lots of children’s books at 40p each. I’m also going to need some new maternity clothes soon and ideally I’d like to try them on - I’m expecting twins, and some of the maternity clothes I had from DD just aren’t going to fit the enormity of my bump at this rate! If I buy online, they might not go around my vastness Grin

Nickname21 · 11/06/2020 18:54

I don't like shopping for clothes and shoes online. I hate the faff of having to return stuff I don't like or doesn't fit.

So I'll stick to the high street and real life shopping.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 11/06/2020 18:55

I won't be returning to the shops on 15th June not because I'm afraid of catching the virus but because I can't stand to bloody queue for hours outside! I seriously think people underestimate what affect this will have on the recovery!

Besides I order everything online now and quite look forward to the Hermes and Amazon men coming most days.

Makinglists · 11/06/2020 18:55

No - only going to go if I specifically need something I can’t get online or is better to buy in person eg children’s shoes. Can’t think of anything worse than the stress of social distancing and visiting our city centre.

Trainersmum · 11/06/2020 18:57

No probably not, can't see the point. Cant see the point. I've got dc so won't have time to queue and wait around.

Also pisses me off that children can't go to school, the park, do hobbies, but can go to browse the shops.

Yes I know all about the economy and I do care about the future of retailers, but I'm extremely pissed off that the government haven't prioritised children,

SpeedofaSloth · 11/06/2020 18:58

Yes, DD needs shoes.

halcyondays · 11/06/2020 18:59

I won’t be rushing to them straight away. If they want everyone going out to spend money in the shops, will they be opening toilets? I wouldn’t venture too far from home unless I knew toilets would be open.

BlusteryLake · 11/06/2020 19:01

Yes, there are some things I want to see in the flesh before buying, so I will be going for those.

Spied · 11/06/2020 19:03

No, I'll be waiting to see what the fallout is from them opening...

sprinklesone · 11/06/2020 19:03

Hell yes

BrandyandBabycham · 11/06/2020 19:03

Not yet for me - I like to take my time & wander around so it would feel too stressful I think.
