PMQs followed by the briefing. BoJo cunningly consolidating all his work into one weekday again. Wonder what compliant scientist they’ll wheel out for the afternoon.

I assumed he was taking some paternity leave? Timing is shit but he is as entitled to take it as anyone else.

FliesandPies · 12/06/2020 14:28

Entitled? As in legally? Well yes, I suppose he must be. But morally? He's not 'anyone else', he is required to lead the Government and if not able, to step down. If he's on paternity leave he must name his stand-in but why on earth would he do that at this time? His country is in crisis, in fact crises and he has failed the country.

@theonlywayisapple

No I don't work in track and trace.

The figures stated above are from information published by the Government and reported in the daily briefings or on the news.

25,000 staff recruited. 31,000 people traced. The maths isn't rocket science.

And there have been plenty of interviews with the trackers/tracers reporting how they applied for something stated as a 'dream job' in customer service; got the bare minimum in training; and are sat with nothing to do while being paid £10 per hour.

RaspberryIsMyJam · 12/06/2020 15:27

I’m a tracer, the training was good. Would you rather they hadn’t hired enough tracers? I’m sure you would’ve moaned about that. The fact there isn’t much work right now should be seen as a good thing but once again, people just have to have digs. No matter what the government do, it’ll be wrong in your eyes.

@jasjas1973

He is busy working in the background on a series of UK world class/beating/leading initiatives that will take us out of this crisis and onto a glorious post EU world.
Have you been at the gun cupboard 😂
nancy75 · 12/06/2020 15:30

*gin not gun 😡

jasjas1973 · 12/06/2020 15:36

UK Track and trace has, as proven in other countries, great potential BUT until we can get test results out quickly, then it will fail to achieve, Dido Harding cannot give this figure, so can only assume she knows it and it isn't good!
There is also no app, yet one exists, woking throughout europe but we wont use it because it was developed in europe... madness!

The govt has had months to get testing (& TnT) sorted and i do not see how anyone can say we have "capacity" to test 200k yet can't get all results out within 24hrs hours and according to 50% of social care directors, they do not have confidence their staff can even get a test done (survey done two weeks ago)

Whatever Johnson is supposed to be doing, he clearly is not, perhaps thats structural and the UK simply cannot get things done anymore?

jasjas1973 · 12/06/2020 15:41

@nancy75

How dare you imply our world leading gold standard PM isn't doing a sterling job! lol!

DuncinToffee · 12/06/2020 15:50

Boris Johnson has today posted 8 tweets about Churchill, who died 55 years ago

Nothing about care homes, test & trace, schools, PPE, quarantine. No apology for being late with the lockdown

What a disgrace

Andrew Adonis on Twitter

itsgettingweird · 12/06/2020 16:22

Stamer just moans and moans and moans

Yeah! Alongside a growing proportion of the British nation and it be aimed clearer and clearer the only "works beating" thjng they have achieved so far is deaths Sad

Known ones knows if a different Tory MP or even a different party would have done better.
But they have been hard tasked to be worse Grin

nancy75 · 12/06/2020 16:28

@jasjas1973 I’m sorry, it must take a lot out of him, all that tennis & shagging around. I’m expecting too much of the poor chap

I think gun works better than gin Grin

@RaspberryIsMyJam

You hire the number of people you need to do a job - and you don't need 25,000 people to track 31,000 people over the course of a week.

Good luck to you. You certainly seem to have found your dream job.

vera99 · 12/06/2020 16:55

I hate Johnson now not because he is poisonous personally (though he probably is) but for his sheer breathtaking incompetence and deflection at a time of grave national peril. There is a blind fury growing in this country and he will be at the heart of that storm. Tories unseat him and quickly for the sake of our country.

CLCB07 · 12/06/2020 17:03

My husband is helping with contact tracing as well as working his substantive role, there are a lot of public sector staff volunteering hours or being redeployed full or part time from their usual roles. He and his colleagues may be part of the 31,000 count.

You’re nice, aren’t you!

This isn’t my dream job, I wanted to help people but you go ahead and criticise and ridicule me if it makes you feel better

Jkslays · 12/06/2020 17:22

Boris got picked because there was no one better. How mad is that... Fucking Boris as prime minister.

Just shows what a shit show ALL the parties are.

All the rest of the other parties need to hang their heads in shame. It’s all their fault too. None of them could get their shit together enough in time.

You can’t only blame one political party for the state of our government it’s like the fucking muppet show or a real life spitting image sketch. They are all as bad as each other

Flynn999 · 12/06/2020 17:26

I figured he’s just been furloughed part time. 🤷‍♀️

FliesandPies · 12/06/2020 17:30

Not true. He was chosen because of his supposed charisma, 'stardust', powers of oratory and ability to connect with people. The others were rotten bunch but I don't believe they would all have been as bad as Bozo (not to mention being controlled from behind by Cummings)

It's partly that kind of lazy shallow thinking that has lead us to where we are. They are not all as bad as each other - some are decent people with energy, ideas and principles.

None of these in the Labour Party whatsoever

No what led here was shit leadership. That’s it. And if you can’t see that then I’m sorry but your part of the problem

FliesandPies · 12/06/2020 19:34

Yes of course, how very insightful of you Hmm

wanderings · 12/06/2020 20:49

Remember how BoJo kept saying "it could have gone either way"? It probably did go the other way to what we think, and on his rare appearances, we've seen somebody in a BoJo wig. They just haven't wanted to announce it, because the public would abandon social distancing as they turn out en masse to pay their respects, like they've done with other high-profile celebrities.

That’s not true, next door’s got a half deaf dog that would have been a better choice

Lazy i'm afraid.
The UK chose an unproven Eton toff in favour of G.Brown, chose the same fool in 2015 against a decent Labour moderate leader because he couldn't eat a beefburger!
We then followed a far right Farage and a bumbling Johnson and rejected the EU, voted for more of the same in 2017 and chose, overwhelmingly, Johnson again in 2019, just to get "Brexit Done" even though it went against a lot of our views on the EU, we could have voted Green LD or Labour but chose the Clown.

The only people to blame for this mess and the huge loss of life is the us, the UK public.
