It's now mandatory to wear face mask on public transport with exceptions for disability, young children etc.
This should have been done ages ago.
They also admitting face masks offers some protection

To clarify. It will be mandatory to wear face-masks on public transport in England from 15 June.

(Don't know what Wales or Scotland are doing.)

I still think most face masks do more harm than good but there you go

PuzzledObserver · 04/06/2020 17:16

I wish the government would just watch John Campbell's YouTube channel and follow what he says

MarshaBradyo · 04/06/2020 17:16

Yep not sure why we waited

GreyGardens88 · 04/06/2020 17:16

Who will be providing the masks?

rosie39forever · 04/06/2020 17:18

Doesn't have to be a mask can be a face covering, scarf of bandana.

CrunchyCarrot · 04/06/2020 17:18

'Face coverings', not face masks.

rosie39forever · 04/06/2020 17:18

Or not of

EggysMom · 04/06/2020 17:18

Yes, sorry, if I could edit my post I would. It's a face covering rather than a face mask.

ineedaholidaynow · 04/06/2020 17:19

@GreyGardens88 you will be providing it, but it is just a face covering not a mask per se.

ProfessorHasturLaVista · 04/06/2020 17:19

Good. About time. Wish they would say the same for shops.

snowballer · 04/06/2020 17:19

Who will be providing the masks?

Presumably the person wearing it? Please tell me people aren't going to start saying someone else should fund a small piece of cotton to put over their own face

Pelleas · 04/06/2020 17:19

with exceptions for disability, young children etc.

I can see this leading to arguments.

Cherryghost · 04/06/2020 17:22

Omg they having volunteer face covering reminder people to 'remind' people to wear one. This will not play out well

@GreyGardens88

Who will be providing the masks?
You. Either buy a face covering or make it yourself of course. Hmm
ToothFairyNemesis · 04/06/2020 17:23

That’s a relief, as masks primarily protect others there was no real incentive for people to wear them who didn’t consider themselves high risk.

😄 Well said snowballer!
okiedokieme · 04/06/2020 17:24

I'm wondering about the intercity, my journey on the 15th is 3.5 hours, I'll at least need a drink!

RichardMarxisinnocent · 04/06/2020 17:25

It isn't masks it is face coverings, and the passengers will be expected to provide their own coverings, which could be bought or made, or could just be a scarf or bandana tied around your face.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 04/06/2020 17:26

@Pelleas

with exceptions for disability, young children etc.

I can see this leading to arguments.

I'd bet on it.

My thoughts too.

I can't understand why so many of the announcements are only implemented weeks later and then have so many exemptions.

twinnywinny14 · 04/06/2020 17:30

This should have been done ages ago, and wtf saying from June 15th? Why is this happening now? Are they trying to slow the spread again? This makes no sense and wonder what is coming next x

Comefromaway · 04/06/2020 17:30

I agree with this but it's going to make it difficult for ds to get to college if college is open in September. He has tried wearing one but it causes him to have a panic attack.

But that's our problem, no-one else's.

EnlightenedOwl · 04/06/2020 17:30

And the hysteria continues to rule. This country is utterly done
