Have the press been gagged? Questions a bit pointless today on the briefing.

itsgettingweird · 29/05/2020 17:57

The woman from independent asked about a something triple lock. It wasn't pensions! I had no idea what she was on about!

Sunak is very clear. He doesn't bluster when delivering shit news. He is honest that unemployment will rise. He's very clear about future endeavours.

He should have kept off Twitter over DC.

I actually liked the fact he spoke at the end and closed the briefing rather than running off.

He does use the terms "world leading" etc but all politicians do that.

He also doesn't seem to rush answers or panic.

But let's face it. As one journalist said. The real economic impact of this starts from now.

This is your HIGNFY klaxon.

@HeIenaDove

This is your HIGNFY klaxon.
I'm watching. They are being brutal. Even janet street porter is kind of against DC.
HeIenaDove · 29/05/2020 21:21

They are on fire tonight Grin

minou123 · 29/05/2020 21:24

Ian Hislop is on fire! Grin

I think he was going to have a heart attack when MC asked "why is everyone angry?"

I'd love to say this shocks me, but it doesn't.
Completely expected.

I really believe that when they start Localised Lockdowns, they will only lockdown council housing estates and not places such as Kensington or Mayfair.
They'll claim the science backs the lockdowns, but really it will be to control people.

HeIenaDove · 29/05/2020 22:25

@minou123.

Yep They will probably call them red zones like they did in Years and Years.

Used that in my thread title.

SouthWestmom · 29/05/2020 22:45

Yes well they don't need to lock down Westminster after the pox party they clearly had 😂

The best part of the last leg:
They were discussing how trust has been decimated because of DC.
Now Matt Hancock wants us to trust the track and trace guidance. Adam said

"If you want us to drink the Kool Aid mate, dont stick your dick in it first"

Ffs 🤦🏼‍♀️

drivingtotestmyeyes · 30/05/2020 16:39

Iv noticed a new message on the gov website about number of tests, does this mean they won't be publishing them now due to overlap of people testing?how will they know they are testing enough to have an accurate representation of the number with the virus?

HeIenaDove · 30/05/2020 16:42

@PurplePansy05 You beat me to it. I was just coming on here to mention the free footie bribe.

1forsorrow · 30/05/2020 16:44

Didn't Johnson say we would be up to 200,000 a day by the end of May?

itsgettingweird · 30/05/2020 16:46

Yay. Dominic Cummings question - it hasn't gone away!

itsgettingweird · 30/05/2020 16:47

Wow! Van Tam. Proud.

"In my opinion the guidelines are clear. There are there for all. They apply to all"

Pointed look at camera.

Boom Grin

HeIenaDove · 30/05/2020 16:47

I like Van Tams reply "the rules are for the benefit of all and they APPLY TO ALL!!!"

HeIenaDove · 30/05/2020 16:48

Van Tam strikes me as someone who takes no shit

PurplePansy05 · 30/05/2020 16:48

Does anyone still remember the government saying that if we end up with 20k covid deaths it would be a success (in a sense that unfortunately a number of deaths is unavoidable)?

Well, that's going great...

1forsorrow · 30/05/2020 16:49

Van Tam strikes me as someone who takes no shit Yes if he was the Head Teacher you wouldn't want to get sent to his office would you.

HeIenaDove · 30/05/2020 16:53

Didnt the Cummings question come from the Observer not the Telegraph Newsreader has it wrong.
