IT IS NOT GOING AWAY!! BOOHOO BOJO

HeIenaDove · 28/05/2020 18:07

Id love to see the PMs, e mails between Whitty and Valance.

minou123 · 28/05/2020 18:08

Its forecast to rain here in the North Rast from the 5th June, so we wont be enjoying a bbq with our families for long.

At least that'll mean DC wont be joining us. Silver linings Grin

Will this be abused by abusive exes.

So a person, unknown to you, notifies the NHS that they have been in contact with you & you have to self-isolate for 14 days even if you have previously done so. But members of your household don't? And you won't know who the contact was so you can contradict it?

Actually I think Whitty and Valances very clear - even if somber - message will bet across to most people. Despite what the torys think we are actually an intelligent nation. It certainly made me think.

NaturalBornWoman · 28/05/2020 18:13

@HeIenaDove

A big Fuck You to families who live in flats with no gardens.
No it isn’t a big fuck you. What do you want them to say, meet indoors even though the risk is so much greater? Last week when it was people can meet in parks and public outdoor spaces it was all how stupid, how is a park safer than a garden! Now it’s gardens as well, that’s fucking wrong too. Detest the government, and Boris and Cummings all you like, but at least criticise them for actual things, don’t just bloody whinge!
Oldmrswasherwoman · 28/05/2020 18:17

So do we think the throwaway 'accidental' line about BBQs is so thats the headline tomorrow not DC (again)...

HeIenaDove · 28/05/2020 18:19

Their history with people who live in tower blocks or housing estates isnt exactly exemplary Yesterdays DM headline was done deliberately to stoke the stereotype of ppl who live on housing estates

And my question about Crohns is a valid one. The post you have cherry picked was a knee jerk reaction so i concede to that though.

CricketCrocket · 28/05/2020 18:19

I feel sorry for CW and PV to be put in this position but it’s not a political issue.

The 6 people meeting up is nice but there’s 5 of us in my immediate family.

If we go to visit my mum, does my dad have to hide in the shed?

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 18:23

Don't worry cricket if you can't follow the rules to the letter. That's an exceptional circumstance. (Wink) You can't ask your father to move out just so you can visit!

HeIenaDove · 28/05/2020 18:23

DH and i used to live in a bedsit in the early 90s Our downstairs neighbour had ulcerative colitis.

Her and the tenant next door to us had a shared bathroom. Was a bloody nightmare for her so i told her to knock on my door if she needed to The other tenant was an arse who nicked the water softener when she moved out

People with these conditions need proper access to a loo

Boris has no idea.

I hadn’t read the full thread. You can use the loo, you have to be very careful and clean afterwards. Take the same precautions that those of us who are shielded currently have to take when sharing a home with our own spouse or immediate family.

Yes, we’ll trust our instincts!
HeIenaDove · 28/05/2020 18:29

And what about the ones who dont live near their parents................cos they got on their bike and looked/moved for work.

How frustrating must that be.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 18:35

Didn't one of the journalists make a comment along the lines of "now we can travel across the country to see our parents?!"

Mine are shielding. Nothings changed here Sad

SecretSpAD · 28/05/2020 18:37

Stumbled upon this thread as I've spent the last few days ranting at DH and the teenagers. They've legged it to the beach to escape me so ranting in here instead!

Chris and Patrick are both men of integrity. Proper integrity, not the Dominic Cummings version which is (and really is because my name change is the job I did before last July) fuck the little people, I'll do what I want. He's broken the civil service code which can get us sacked and broken the cardinal rule of being a SpAd which is don't become the news yourself.

SecretSpAD · 28/05/2020 18:41

Sorry, ranting and posted too soon. This show by BJ is just designed to deflect people from the real issue which is that DC broke the lockdown, travelled whilst symptomatic/certainly exposed and then lied about it. He's gaslighting the entire nation and it's really time for the country to wake up and realise what they elected.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 18:43

They have woken up. Any advice about what else we can do to fight this and stop it being swept away?
My MP is ignoring me and if her FB page is anything to go by I'm not the only one.

HeIenaDove · 28/05/2020 18:50

Jesus, News item says beds were BLOCK BOOKED in care homes.

SecretSpAD · 28/05/2020 18:51

If the R is between 0.7 and 0.9, then allowing people to meet in gardens etc, is not based on scientific evidence

I'm very far from convinced that SAGE or Chris Whitty has ok'd this approach. But basically the R rate needs to stay below 1 for the epidemic to be contained, but it is also dependent on the prevalence of the infection - that is how much is out there. So in areas where the prevalence is low, eg where I am in the SW, an R number of 0.7 (which I think it is here) is fine. In the North East where the prevalence is higher then there's automatically more opportunities for the virus to spread because there are more people with the virus in the community. Does that make sense?

FuckThisWind · 28/05/2020 19:02

@HeIenaDove the people I know who have Chron's or Collitis are in the shielding category so won't be going out / far. But I completely get your point. I have IBS so always keep that in mind when planning trips. It's an utter minefield though and stupid to say folk can travel to beaches or meet in gardens when toilets are such a necessity for us all. Never mind anyone with issues. My Mum is only just coming to terms with her new Stoma. She wont be going anywhere either.

Humphriescushion · 28/05/2020 19:04

That would not surprise me @ helena. Also chris giles on twitter has a slightly scary graph showing hosptial admissions going up ( albeit slightly) in london. I cant find the graph on the internet and am useless on linking to twitter.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 19:05

On the toilet issue I had a problem with this the other day. I've been nowhere since before lockdown (as I was isolating with symptoms and far too ill anyway). I've walked the farmland around me and been to the supermarket. I went to a local country park the other day purely on the basis they said toilets would be open.
They weren't Angry it was a very short trip!
