Track and Trace

So once T&T is up and running and you get a notification that you have been in close contact with someone with CV19. You could be bleeped all the time especially if you are meeting your family which I believe is one of the highest risks and one of them has it Passing someone within 2 metres in a supermarket has little risk.

If for example its the winter and you are due to go on holiday, get married, go to a funeral etc and you are told to isolate then why would some people even get the app if they thought they would be stopped from doing something pre booked/arranged.

I see the younger people even less likely to have the track and trace because even if they had it they are likely to have symptons.

Or do we think its likely that its only with severe cases with a huge viral load given to you that will result in you being asked to self isolate.

I work at home most of the time anyway so this wouldnt be a big issue for me (unless I was about to go on holiday - I suspect your travel insurance would not cover you for this scenario) but for others I can envisage huge concerns going forward.

I work in a mental health setting, I have contact everyday with around 20 people, impossible to socially distance within our workplace. If one of us tests positive then that would be the entire work team isolating?? Who would look after our residents. Absolutely ridiculous and impossible to police.

@antisocialdistance that's very informative, thank you.

Isn’t that the Talk Talk boss who didn’t know if the hacked data was encrypted who is in charge

"If we are not supposed to be within 2M if anyone else there won’t be anyone to trace will there."
There will once schools open as young children don't have to keep to strict social distancing although schools have to try and implement it as much as possible.
It is also so things like hairdressers can open.

@milkysmum are you using PPE? That stops the trace and isolate I believe.

So if one of my patients tests positive and I’m required to list all the people I’ve been in contact with that could run to a high number
We typically treat 16+ patients a day at work
Plus I’m not allowed to give out patients / colleagues personal details because GDPR

I think this is a good idea in practice. In reality it will be a nightmare

Report
porktangle · 27/05/2020 19:32

@Heatherjayne1972 if you're treating patients you should be using PPE so that negates all of this.

As an aside, this is the approach that was used in Torbay when the first cases in the grammar schools came to light after skiing trips in February and it worked really well at shutting the chain down quickly. Torbay have had a really low number of cases despite having a fair cluster really early on.

Ppe? Ha ha. Does a surgical mask changed a couple of times a day and pinny that covers half my body count??

If we turn our phones off when out can we avoid being zapped?

Report
Heatherjayne1972 · 27/05/2020 19:43

@porktangke
Yeah we been wearing ppe forever
But I don’t wear it outside of my surgery In the waiting room / staff room etc
Plus we Often are required to take it off to speak to patients

Still not allowed to pass any confidential information about my patients or colleagues to anyone because GDPR.
I could be fired for that

Report
antisocialdistance · 27/05/2020 19:44

@pontypridd

But why would you? Do you not want to receive information that is important for your own health and the health of others you care about?

@EducatingArti but young children don’t spread it and are meant to be 2m just in case 😂

I too, was thinking about the implications of GDPR with this. Let's say I'm asked to give contact details, what do they need- another person's name/address/number? How do I know the contact tracer person is genuine? (ideal for scams)

What if I don't know the details, or the details could implicate them- they could be my drug dealer, the person I am having an affair with or a friend suffering domestic abuse that has met me without their partner knowing?

If I was then contacted, could I guess or be told the original person, in which that is also a confidential breach.

I’m on the shielded list. I don’t go anywhere and I don’t see anyone. I miss my family so much. I’m using my initiative and not using the app. The “rules” have no meaning any longer

What if an infected person was near your phone when you’re not there? Eg in an office when you’re elsewhere in the building?

You could end up with people being forced to isolate that haven’t even been in contact with an infected person. While the government supports one of their own who leaves his house with symptoms?

How on earth can that work?

I also imagine abusive individuals will be front of the queue to name victims just to force them to isolate for a fortnight for no good reason.

How can I be contacted without an app if I’ve sat next to someone on a bus for 40 mins (as in NZ example)?

Let’s no bother to try and make it work then we can just stay in lockdown for the foreseeable or just let the virus run riot so as not to inconvenience anyone

If someone who has access to as much information as the government and SAGE has and thinks that it is ok to swan across the country and visit his elderly parents whilst sick with this disease, it suggests to me that it isn't the crisis it's made out to be.

I'm not sure what the alternatives are. What do others suggest we do? Those of you who are refusing to take part, what would you be willing to participate in?

The fact remains that this is our greatest hope of beating this virus. You may not like the government, Cummings may be making your blood boil etc. You've every right to feel this way but the right thing to do is to take part in this

I won't be, i held to the rules and at great personal cost, i will never see a loved one again thanks to "not following my instincts" but not anymore, i won't be taken for a mug again.
Also, there is nothing to stop malicious contacts making up rubbish, what right of appeal is there? Not that there will be any enforcement.

The system is flawed, so i'm on a busy tube for 15 mins or i have been breaking lockdown and owning up risks a fine to me and the people i went to visit?
what about the low paid or those with no sick pay? they cannot afford to isolate.

All those saying stick to the rules etc wait until the next Govt minister is caught breaching their own trac n trace, then see how you feel.

Plus one without all the glaring holes this one has.

I've just started a thread on this. The woman leading this had to step down in her previous role as there was a cyber attack that led to thousands of customers having their private data breached. You couldn't make it up!
