If it was okay for him to travel for childcare then why were people fined for travelling to get childcare?

OP posts:
Neolara · 26/05/2020 20:30

It's like they're literally rewriting the law to get him off the hook. The question is why are they willing to sacrifice so much to keep him. The only logical answer I've come to is that DC is running the country. So much for getting rid of unelected elites telling everyone what to do...

MorrisZapp · 26/05/2020 20:31

This is a new angle, not said before. Absolutely needs a new thread.

BeingonFBdoesntmakeittrue · 26/05/2020 20:35

You should present your list of people fined for using childcare to the courts.

runrunrunrunt · 26/05/2020 20:37

I don't need to present a list. Hancock acknowledges the existence of such people. Couldn't find a thread about this specific issue.

BackInTime · 26/05/2020 20:39

Unfortunately we have a front bench of inept ministers selected based on their loyalty to the Brexit cause rather than experienced, capable people. Cummings is at the heart of delivering their master plan, Boris is just the frontman there for the occasional rousing speech and buffoonery to win over the voters.

Ohlordysugarandspice · 26/05/2020 20:40

Write to your MP. Make sure your annoyance is heard.

NaturalBornWoman · 26/05/2020 20:42

He didn’t really did he? He said it was a fair question and he’d look into it and come back with a full answer.

slipperywhensparticus · 26/05/2020 20:50

They also claim his son is autistic where has he actually said his son is autistic?

Apparently we learned nothing from caroline flack the bullying is getting out of hand and we should all #befuckingkind

Whst about the suicides brought on by people not being with a loved one when they pass? Not being able to see someone because of lockdown my daughter is stuck in a welsh university (everyone is really fed up of hearing about this I'm sure) I spent the first four weeks upset feeling like my fucking heart was breaking I stayed home

savehalloween · 26/05/2020 20:50

The thing is someone travelling for childcare would be unlikely to be fined. It would likely be classed as essential. Many parents had to take their kids from one parent to the others. And many key workers have said they've needed grandparent support.

What he did wrong was travel with suspected coronavirus, when he should have been self isolating.

I'm not convinced there will be many fined who were in those circumstances.

You're angry on imaginary people's behalf

BeingonFBdoesntmakeittrue · 26/05/2020 20:52

Oh, you don't know of anyone fined for travelling to access childcare then? Sounded like you did.

Greysparkles · 26/05/2020 20:53

I hope so!

mum2jakie · 26/05/2020 20:59

So we should be kind to Dominic Cummings?? Lol!!! He clearly doesn't give a monkey's arse what the public think!

effingterrified · 26/05/2020 21:04

There are so many holes in his account it's like a sieve.

Why was he driving around if he couldn't see properly? Given that's illegal and incredibly dangerous?

Why did he go back to work at Downing Street AFTER going home to look after his sick wife, when the rules said he needed to isolate then for 14 days?

Why did he not ask his healthy niece to come down to him if he needed childcare, rather than risking everyone's health, including his own child's, by shoving him in a car with potentially infectious people for hours?

Why did he drive to a busy, popular beauty spot, driving through the town to get there, whilst trying out his driving skills with dodgy eyes? How selfish and dangerous is that?

Why did his wife lie and claim the son was well and they stayed in London the whole time?

etc etc etc.

effingterrified · 26/05/2020 21:07

And how dare people drag Caroline Flack into this.

She is dead. She was not a political figure and has got nothing at all to do with coronavirus.

Cummings is alive and well and a very powerful albeit unelected political figure who has been caught lying. It is essential that the population retains the ability to question those in power.

Or we do not live in a democracy.

otterturk · 26/05/2020 21:14

OH PLEASE GOD END THIS NO MORE JUST NO MORE

Greysparkles · 26/05/2020 22:09

But Caroline flack has everything to do with not letting the media and masses hound someone to literal death.

The scenes outside his house are appalling. His child must be terrified

ListeningQuietly · 26/05/2020 22:17

If you are angry about Cummings, email your MP
tell THEM how you feel
www.parliament.uk/get-involved/contact-your-mp/
they work for you

Threads on here will make no difference
emails to MPs might

runrunrunrunt · 26/05/2020 22:21

I agree regarding the scenes outside his house. Truly despicable.

OP posts:
slipperywhensparticus · 26/05/2020 22:45

He can call the police about the press he chose not to he must like the visuals it puts out of press = bad people

Driving with dodgy eyesight = judgment call

Driving up to see your family for their birthday = great son!

My MP actually disagrees with him and thinks he should do the honorable thing and resign this from the man who sent his secretary out to buy sex toys for him (allegedly) and kept his job and was voted back in (twice I believe there are clearly a lot of sex toy users in my area)

Miljea · 26/05/2020 22:47

His child will be safely tucked away in the West Wing with nanny. Unaware of a bunch of 'breaking news' reporters on the doorstep.

DC has spent much of his career taking the temperature of public attitude, which is why he oh-so-cleverly came up with 'Immigration: take back control' without the need to examine whether anyone was actually pro, or anti- immigration. Just wanting to 'control' it. Thus we could all project our own opinions on that. Ambiguous. Clever.

But this time, The Rules were clear. He helped draft them. He broke them.

Why should we hand wring about the 'scenes' outside his house? He's a public figure who abundantly brought all this upon his house.

Epigram · 27/05/2020 06:14

All this has been said now. I'm not a Tory voter, but I think it's to move on.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 27/05/2020 06:16

Where they ?

devildeepbluesea · 27/05/2020 06:21

Moving on is EXACTLY what they want us to want. Moving on will get him off the hook and. Keep him his job. I for one will not be moving on. I've written to my MP and I'll continue to do what I can to ensure that we do not move on.
